I've been doing car audio 35 years and I've never heard somebody explain such a complicated subject in such a way that anybody can understand it. You sir have a gift.
It's all about acoustical impedance matching. I can't wait to build a series 6th order horn. I have 4 8s in a blowthrough horn in my truck right now tuned to 29hz. I'm getting 146.5 db at 29 hz without any reinforcement to the internals of the truck.
The info this guy presents and backs it up with facts, is truly amazing and often overlooked and misunderstood. This guy, my opinion, is the best!!! I am truly inspired by this guy. I have a scar rp1500.1, and going l7 q class with a horn enclosure!!! Big facts!!
** Pretty good description of a Horn Enclosure, however I would of used the analogy of a Piano with the Top Board Open as a reference to acoustic Wave Movement as the example.
I ask you a question about the box size of 2 q L7s 12s ,I think from your lessons I'm to small.I have 2 cubes. What size box and subs would you advise in my ford ranger xlt extended cab.I think I'm leaving a lot of sound on the table.Thinking of doing business with you. Oh the box I have now is at 40 hz.
I want a horn enclosure for Memphis mojo 8''s under the seat of a 2001 gmc Sierra extended cab . I have 0 awg and I',m running a 3500.1 sundown on my subs and a phoenix Gold 800.4 on my highs and miss. also a 390 amp alternator and the big 3, any suggestions?
I could be wrong but it looks like that is what Cerwin Vega did with those big enclosures they put 15" subs in...can't remember what CV called them but it looks similar..Dj's used them and some clubs had them...
Horn loaded loudspeakers are used extensively in pro audio they tend to project the sound much better. This is partially why you can have such loud bass at the back of a concert, also with a little help from the Haas effect.
Question boss.... what would you say horn enclosures are the most efficient in? An suv, Sedan, or a pickup? I know you have many comments come in and hope you or anyone can answer this for me.
I noticed you used the square L7 and the q class is round. Should I use the l715 or the round q class. I would prefer the round as I've seen the squares eventually get damaged in the corners.
@@WillParkerJr yeah most definitely man about 25% more according to kicker. I'm seriously considering doing this in my new SUV instead of a normal 215s ported enclosure. I have heard them I'm telling you horns sound unique and are definitely loud very good sound!
I've got 43 wide by 18 tall by 36 deep to work with in my RAV4 I'm getting which gives me a gross of 13.6 cubes before displacement of anything. Would that be big enough for a 15-in q class? After going to enough concerts and hearing horns I want one in my car!
@@M.B.Enclosures Hell yeah! So in your opinion that single 15 on 1100 watts will be similar to two of them in the same size ported enclosure on 2200 Watts? I know from having heard horns I would rather have that sound than a ported box, man that concert affect is awesome and the feeling of projection you talked about!
Johnny Corn . Nah he said in a older vid that 2 subs in a bass reflex would be louder than 1 sub in a horn. But 1 horn across the spectrum are louder than 1 ported.. unless it’s an SPL build
@@Shomare100 yeah that sounds about right this video I remember in this video he said that the difference wouldn't be much about two decibels in favor of the ported honestly I would like to save the weight of the other 15 and have the sound of the horn and lose the two decibels which your ear probably wouldn't even notice much. Horns have a more accurate and impactful sound that I really like

That sub right there alone sounds great in a ported inclosure I could just imagine what it would sound in a horn enclosure.

Nice, this box makes power itself i guess that you can use 300w rms woofer and get power much as 600w rms ported box?
