Cattle rancher next door has a pair of dogs that break off like Max to do their own thing along miles of creek bottom valley flanked by canyons. Older Sammie will just sit down when tired in some random spot and await pickup while Eddie roams. Happily I moved on the only adjoining farm and now they just show up here, get their biscuits and know I'll be dropping a dime for quick pickup.
I do not know why but it always cracks me up when the dogs are in the vehicle that's being towed. Reminds me of little kids hanging out and happy to be along.
I have three little doggos (Springer spaniels & a retriever) - the boy, whose the eldest is constantly getting lost. Always chasing squirrels and rabbits in the woods. My two girls never go far, always check what's ahead, but never go too far and never leave my line of sight. I finally trained them to find him. So now if he's lost they will find where he's hiding. One thing, the expanse where you are is something else though. Everything where I am is with an hour walking distance and he never goes much further than that.
Older retrievers tend to get tunnel vision. It can really alter their behavior and ability to know where they're going. They lose the peripheral of their vision and tend to run off with their face down because they're relying more heavily on smell/sound. Then they look up without realizing they've been running away for a half mile and start to panic.
I suggest you train your dogs to respond to a loud horn, whistle or bell. When you're almost ready to leave, make the "return" noise. Feed them something special like roast chicken after every animal shows up. Max will do much better at sticking around for the return call and the other dogs will help because they don't get the special treat until everyone is back.

Air tag wouldn't work without other iPhones in the area to "report" his location back. If he's out in the rocks you won't get any useful location. Those are best in densely populated areas, not in remote country with minimal cell service and reliance on "i devices" to pass on the data.
Everyone keeps saying to get a GPS collar for Max. But it would still need cell data service to send the GPS coordinates to someone. And the places Max will go adventuring probably doesn't have any cell signal at all, or only intermittent. People know to get to high ground to try and get a connection, but Max wouldn't know to do that.
There are GPS collars for dogs that use radio frequencies and a dedicated receiver to allow GPS tracking without cell signals- like Dogtra or Garmin. We use them on our SAR dogs, and get 5-10 miles of range in the woods of the Southeast.
Man that climb at 12:06 was impressive by anyone's standards and it takes a lot to impress me! Seems that once those wrecker tires spun around a few times and got warm they gripped and walked right up.
GPS collars require cellular communication to relay the location info. Most of the remote areas do not have reliable cellular reception to either send the GPS info, or to receive it.
@@BOYTLeRoyJenkins you've been wrong on both fronts here. not all trackers need cellular reception, and satellite trackers exist. the devices aren't expensive, the monthly subscription is. there have been radio trackers for 3 decades now, from e.g. garmin, and there's also the spot trace if you want a satellite gps tracker
Hi Matt and crew, at 0:30 looking through the back window I see Colby resting his arm on the brace to the headache bar. Why has nobody welding 6 or 8 inch flat "sheet" between them two braces? for a save and nice elevated seat. Even if its lower then your knees, so that it don't get in the way of the winch lines. Or even two "game vehicle tracker seat" like they have on the front of a Safari vehicles in Africa, fitted on the outside of the brace.

@@hines862009 not 100% on this but i think the newer ones work on gps now
Max goes toward people… People have phones. So he’d ping as he travels. An Air Tag would be cheap insurance (no on-going service fees).
Love it. Good old fashioned Matt adventure. A little relaxation for a retired trucker.😊
So glad that was a happy ending! Is Max's nickname "manufactured drama"?
I'm happy you were reunited with Max. I think I'd invest in an airtag or tracking collar for when you take him on recoveries.
Ohh, we love Max! Thanks for sharing MORR team!
You need to build a passenger seat on the back of the wrecker haha put it up a bit higher so whoevers up there can try to spot from up top too lol
You mean like that vehicle from Mad Max?
You guys are lucky to live and work in such a wonderful part of the country....awesome scenery and fascinating geology!
I find it incredible that the makers of RZR's and other side by sides don't fit towing/lifting eyes on them. 👎
That would be admitting that they break.
Man that climb at 12:06 was impressive by anyone's standards and it takes a lot to impress me! Seems that once those wrecker tires spun around a few times and got warm they gripped and walked right up.
I am so glad You found MAX !! I LOVE YOU ALL @ M.O.R.R. !!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Watching all of your videos since the beginning of your RUclips journey, it's almost making me move there to make memories just like MORR family ❤
Am I crazy or is that Max right there in the bush behind them at 11:00 ! Right to the left of the banana!
Hey Matt I'm glad you are able to find Max.
Since Max responds to noise, train him to recognize to a special sounding loud horn or device on your person/vehicle.
You'd think he'd be able to find the suspension on the Wrecker from anywhere in Utah
@@BluCappy419 now that's funny!
Glad to see Tom is still in the videos!
Here's a thought!
Get MAX a GPS Coller.
GPS collars require cellular communication to relay the location info. Most of the remote areas do not have reliable cellular reception to either send the GPS info, or to receive it.
@@BOYTLeRoyJenkins Get a satellite GPS.. MAX is worth it. :D
@@ZugZug-n3x unfortunately, I don't believe such a product exists. If it did the cost would be ridiculously expensive.
@@BOYTLeRoyJenkins BOOYA!
What @markifi said.
:P
Hi Matt and crew, at 0:30 looking through the back window I see Colby resting his arm on the brace to the headache bar. Why has nobody welding 6 or 8 inch flat "sheet" between them two braces? for a save and nice elevated seat. Even if its lower then your knees, so that it don't get in the way of the winch lines. Or even two "game vehicle tracker seat" like they have on the front of a Safari vehicles in Africa, fitted on the outside of the brace.
You should teach the dogs to find stranded vehicles
We recently purchased a Tractive GPS collar for one of our cats, it's amazing.
Yellow side by side? FREE TOW
Great video!! I still can't believe all the places that wrecker will go! What a machine!! Poor Max! He don't understand what "not too far" means. LOL!! Glad he was found and can get to go home and get a treat!! LOL!!!
So funny I paused this video to go learn how to drop a pin. 😂
That's scary, self preservation man... Also learn how to download your maps on google so you can be offline and still get directions
Awesome scenery as always. So amazing that these beautiful places exist. Someday I want to see these sights!! Thanks MORR TEAM for taking us all there through video! 🙂
What about making a sling that cradles the tires out of the same stuff your matt straps are made of? Would be easy to stash in the boxes if made detachable.
Wow! So much fun watching that wrecker work! Fabulous!
Cheap chinese steel on these next gen razors and side by sides is going to keep you ultra busy.
Don't blame the steel. Someone spec'd that steel, probably due to cost constraints.
@@Fix_It_Again_Tony I've examined over 1000 busted razor parts and over 75% of them were found to have porosity and all were chinese.
@@vernowen2083 If it passes the manufacturer's QC process then you can't blame the steel or the manufacturing. They know what they are doing. They could have the parts made in China by competent companies, but they chose the cheap ones. Lots of Chinese companies produce quality products, but many do not.
Following sounds is much better doggy intelligence than ignoring sight and hearing to follow their nose, like a dog I once met down by the canal. Narrow paths, bicycles, dog ignored it all to sniff her way around. It's a good thing I ride slow! :) But I only saw her at the canal once. Maybe her owner normally took her elsewhere.
My first thought when I saw Kaulin in that hole was that he used to fit in smaller holes. I would have! :D
Matt maybe you could build a rack and put your new mountain bike on the wrecker so you can ride ahead and look around in 9:34 these types of recoveries. I suggest using a 1UP type rack system for the base and how to secure the bike.
That wrecker is absolutely amazing.
Matt needs a couple of rear seats from a Suzuki Brat for the back of the off road wrecker.
I ❤Max!! Please keep taking him and letting us see him once in a while
