Chris, thanks for all you do brother. I'm 56, been driving and wrenching since '85. Local now, but always had the dream of owning and operating a large car like this one or one similar to the many you interview. These guys live a hard life and take ultimate pride in their equipment and their jobs. You help bring this to light in a big way with these videos. Keep up the good work, man. It's quite appreciated by many!

This format never gets old. Like 2 ol friends chatting. That motor sounds like something Southern Shaker, Grandma Moses, or Ritchie Acosta would roll if they were still around. R.I.P. Give me back the ol days w Galaxy Radios, Big Cats, the I-40 Gang. So many memories shit I remember one of my coolest jobs was fueling the Super Yacht Invictus

The man said it right. Fleet drivers aren’t taught to pay attention to the truck. Only to drive drive drive, so the company can make money off of them. And also, to be a professional and take care of the truck so it’ll take care of you.
The man is also right. No one helps each other anymore. Because the company drivers are not allowed to have radios. So no communication to help others or know what’s going on.

One slick ride! And I think I’ve run with that truck before. And the new age “drivers” don’t compare to how the old school drivers are.. I like this guy seams like a great person! And the truck sounds great and looks great! And he plays it’s smart in the winter! And a turned up rig is the only way to go.. if u know how to drive it! And u most of the time get better fuel mileage… also u ain’t having to run the crap out of it to make it pull. And he’s exactly right about how things should be! And I also learned by getting a permit and running with my dad and uncle.. but trucking is n a lot of peoples blood.. some it’s not and they can’t handle it..

Not to mention you usually share a truck with a senior driver. I worked nights and the day driver was a 45years of service with 30 years sage driving. He taught me a lot.

It’s better to have it and not need it
Than to need it and not have it
Today’s drivers have no idea what a brakesaver or a retarder are
Nor do they know what a 6 & 4 are
I guess I’m showing my age because I come from paper logbooks,,99 cents a gallon fuel,
And hooking up with a couple of gentleman going through the desert and strolling along with both sticks up against the dash listening to a 1693 ta turbo whistling

  • @connorbaz5980

    Serious question here.
Are there any good communities that a new driver could join to find people of this caliber? I want to find a good mentor, but I've only had brief passing interactions with a couple guys like this before. I could count the amount of great conversations I've had on one hand to be honest.
I want to be a true professional someday, I want to upgrade and improve my skillset, and of course (like so many other young guns) I want to drive a classic Pete.
I remember all the stories from my Uncle's and Grandpas from those years, (a few of my relatives and family friends were truckers) and how inspiring, entertaining, and funny they were. Unfortunately all of my relatives who were part of the community are long gone.
I don't just want to end up a mediocre forgettable failure who's burned out and fed up.
Sorry for the bit of a rant there. Just feeling like time is running and I gotta catch it.

    • @lunchmoneytrucking9972
      @lunchmoneytrucking9972 2 года назад +3

I’ve grown up in the industry and watched my dad truck my whole life and was finally able to get in my own truck at 22. Find a solid platform for a first truck and most importantly find a smaller company where you will be treated as a human who makes mistakes. Your going to bend a bumper or tear something up until you learn the hard way and having an understanding dispatcher is so important. Another thing is traffic is steadily getting worse and people more impatient so be ready to be treated like an object instead of a crucial part of America. There is definitely still old school drivers on the road but the rules and regulations are slowly pushing them out unfortunately. Take pride in what you do and keep your head on a swivel for other people and you’ll be just fine!!

Ya learn quick how not to do things
Spreading yokes , twisting shafts, braking axles. It ain't the way to ride.
I'll keep mine down around 750hp for a slight amount of reliability and internal cleanliness.

Some of them big company truckers are just sad how shity there skills are. I'm from Saskatchewan Canada I was coming back from getting seed from a place north east of Moose jaw heading back north west to Plenty SK and I was driving a 389 Pete with B trains hauling seed and I had one of these big company drivers driving a smaller unit it was a single axle trailer single axle truck. Anyway I'm on this really narrow beat up highway 90km/h speed limit so I was doing 95km/h well this guy passes me so I let off started slowing down let him go by just as he passes we get to the crest of a hill so he's ahead of me I loose sight of him but tossed the Jake's on. Well at the bottom of the hill there's a turn off well fuck me he was stopped at the bottom of the hill almost missed his turn and caused small traffic jam well I'm just seeing this when I got to the top of this hill so I'm jakin on the brakes down shifting but my total weight was pushing 150 000lbs there were few mini vans in the on coming lane a pickup at the intersection he seen what was happening so he got out of the way lucky this dipshit of a truck got out of my way at the last second cause in my mind I was not going to take them mini vans out I figured if this is going to happen I'm taking this dipshit with me. Luckily he got out just in time I thought for sure I was going to plow into him. Fuck I will say if I ever ran into him at a stop he would of gotten a ear full he nearly caused a massive accident cause he wasn't paying attention to his turns but I would of bin at fault legally speaking witch is the kicker even though he would of bin the cause.
