We’ve had a holiday home in Kusadasi for 13 yrs - we visit twice a year , lovely seaside resort town . Have to agree with the hike in the cost of living in Turkey , considerably more costly than before…. Turkey is the 6th most visited country on the planet… the Aegean coastline is stunning.

Why use wise when you can use chase or some other card to rack up points?

We love to use Wise for petty purchases and as a backup card. It's also really handy to create a variety of wallets with other currencies and such. You could certainly use Chase for its no foreign exchange fees as it's way better than a traditional bank debit card. - Josh

About the ice creams - I was in Istanbul in June, and they have the prices posted, where you can see them, on the counter. My friend wanted to take part in the show, she let them play the game, we thought the price was exaggerated (around €7.5), but they indicated the price posted on the counter. In another place I asked a salesperson, when he saw me approaching he started with the show, I said I just wanted to know the price and he indicated the price, it that displayed on the counter. And remember, you're not paying for the ice cream, which is worthless, you're paying for the show

Agreed! The actual ice cream is 2nd rate. LOL And the show is annoying according to our 4 year old.

@@ExpatsEverywherePodcast OK, according to your daughter the show is annoying and perhaps frustrating, but for millions of tourists it's comical since they enjoy it

Turkish is actually one of the easiest languages to learn grammatically, with very regular structure, no noun class or grammatical gender distinctions, etc. It is agglutinative, so you just pile up the segments to form a word. Supposed to be one of the easiest for children to learn. Okay, this is all from memory... but it's what I remember from teaching linguistics 20 years ago 😄 Much easier than Portuguese! She says feelingly...

The Bosphorus is not a river. It is a strait which links the black sea to the Marmar sea. Taksim is not a great place. It is actually kind of sketchy particularly at night. I think you may be referring to Nisantasi. It is nice but too cookie cutter for me. On the Asian side, Baghdad Street is a large promenade which looks very European and is lovely to stroll around.
