My VSO was hot garbage ( DAV) . Told me I probably wouldn’t get approved on my migraine, IBS, chronic fatigue after I applied for the first time after 30 years . I also applied for PTSD . 2 years of waiting last Thursday 2 weeks after my C&P I got approved on everything I filed for PTSD 100 percent, migraines 50 , chronic FS 40, and IBS 10 . I had 1300 pages of medical evidence and my psychologist ( who I been seeing for 10 years ) wrote my DBQ . I got over 100k in back pay deposited on Tuesday , plus i got a special monthly compensation bringing my pay to 4392.00 a month . Guys file , but back it up with real evidence!

Good job, John! I’ll be filing this year for the first time since getting out in 1983. Yikes! I’m expecting to get denied. I have several diagnoses relating to toxic exposure (spray painted with CARC paint). Up until a couple of years ago, I neglected my own medical care. I honestly didn’t know that non-combat vets could file claims.

My wife finally convinced me to file . It’s life changing for sure . I get you not knowing, I only started looking into it the last 3 years myself. Like I said if I had 1 piece of advice to give its use all the evidence you can get . Even after I had my own psychologist fill me out a DBA the C&P without reading that said she’s putting me down as PTSD at the end of our telehealth appt . If you put on the uniform & you are injured then or now from anything service related go for it ! It’s life changing for us .

About 5 or 6 years ago, I had a VFW rep tell me he wouldn't help me for a "measly 10 to 20%" So I didn't even get to the point of filing before I gave up. DAV didn't help ("we don't take walk ins"), and the VFW wouldn't help. How many others have they turned away who, like me, just gave up?
Almost two years after my husband (80% rated 100% unemployable) passed away, the PACT act was passed 8/10/22 and I went online and I filed on my own. I was 67. I had no idea what I was doing and was completely unaware of RUclips and channels like this one.
It took 16 months, 14 of which I was living in the desert in my minivan, and decent and honest examiners, but I was finally rated 100% in January of '24. I'm not P&T, so I used my back pay to buy a truck and trailer. I have a home, if the VA decides to downgrade me.

You’d think that falling from a helicopter and losing a kidney and having multiple surgeries to put me back together would be a slam dunk case…but not with our government. I used a VSO back in the 90’s and was so frustrated with the process of continually getting denied that I gave up. It took me over 25 years to finally pay someone to fight for me and I got 90%. Best $5k I ever spent.

  • @jasonproctor9896
    @jasonproctor9896 3 месяца назад +52

I continue to say this. When I got out, I had absolutely no idea how to navigate the VA. I used a VSO because they gave me their number at the VA. He did absolutely nothing to help me and just filed my claims for me. Didn't tell me what I could claim or should claim, didn't tell me anything about evidence, didn't file any evidence for me. Half of the claims were denied. I got smart about claims and did a bunch of research. I used a lawyer to do all of my appeals and they did all the work for me. They just hit me up when they needed something. They took 20% of my back pay. That's it. For them to do everything for me and file everything exactly how it was supposed to be filed, even knowing if something should be filed for a secondary. Nothing was fraudulent. Nothing was faked. They just did all the work for me. To me, it was worth it. Would I use a claims consulting company? Absolutely not because they promise you things they can't guarantee. Nobody can get you 100%, but you and your legitimate medical evidence. If you don't qualify to be rated at 100%, then you don't qualify. Sorry that it hurts, but it's the truth. I'm not even 100% because I'm not gonna lie just to try and get money. Have integrity and stop letting these companies commit fraud for you because they won't have your back when the VA comes knocking.

Paying for help is a good option because quite frankly, some vets aren’t smart enough, or healthy enough to read the letters and info they get, or simply just busy dealing with their issues.
      And that’s ok.
Other folks don’t need to pay simply because they can do the reading and have the reading comprehension to understand what the words mean.
If you can do the reading and understand what the words mean, then it’s not a bad option to do it yourself.
It will take some time, effort, and patience but you can save yourself the expense if you can do it yourself.

I had to help myself after multiple failures. A really good lawyer helped me by arguing my case. I'll accept the fact that he took 20% but he told me that I did everything right. He just argued the legal points. I already had spot on and significant evidence. I even had a VSO tell me, we'll I guess it's not going to happen. What!? What kind of fight is that? I wasn't combat arms but I sure learned how to fight! After working with my lawyer I gained more confidence. I can do this. It works best when you have "skin in the game". I feel like Clay is saying this to all that will listen to his channel. Don't be duped by snake oil salesman. Go to the Leigon, VFW, DAV or any other fraternal veteran organization sit down and have a beer. Find out that a lot of people don't get what they deserve. Weigh the scales. You'll find really good, great apples out there willing to help.

Holy crap, I almost fell into their trap until my spidy senses kicked in after watching your video. As a disabled Marine who underwent the arduous initial claims process, I can understand why vets seek out these companies. If going alone, the process is not easy and the rejection rates are high. The VA knows and relies on this, as most vets give up after the 1st attempt. Once a vet gives up the fight the VA can claim they are saving tax payer dollars. This situation created the unaccredited claims industry in my humble opinion who over-promise and under-deliver and leave vets vulnerable to fraudulent claims. It's painful to think that the founder of one of these companies is an Air Force Academy graduate and a combat veteran. Semper Fidelis, Gunny V

I used VACI for a claim. I had a good coach who taught me a lot about filing a claim. After my first claim was approved, he told me not to use VACI anymore as I knew what to do. They didn't ask for my SSN or any passwords, maybe they're different now. I thought 6X the increase was a bit much, but I did learn quite a bit. He reviews your paperwork and tells you what claims to put in to include secondarys. He will hold your hand throughout the weekend and does everything online over screen sharing video conference.
I've never used his service. I took it upon myself to read and learn. It sucks but thats what you have to do. Thats how i got to 100%. Making sure all my paperwork was in order. Took over 1 year 2 or 3 nights per week. It's like having a 2nd job. But this job pays you and your family income (even if it's small) for the rest of their lives. You earned it. If you're not a bright person, you need to make yourself bright. You have to read. Read a lot. It sucks. Don't trust anyone to fight for you or your family. They only have so much time they can devote to YOUR cause. You have all your time, for your cause.

You should also talk about VA doctors won’t write nexus or Dbq’s and I have have private doctors and their practices limit what they can do as well for liability purposes not to mention they have time limits to see each person. They don’t have time when asked to write a formal letter about why your conditions are aggravated or caused by your service. Not to mention most civilian doctors don’t have experience in talking about things like PTSD. Or sleep apnea connected secondary to other issues. That’s how these medical opinion companies gain so much business.

Yeah, I learned the CFR and have spent the year, working with my docs from over 15 years and the cardiologist that my daughter worked for. Oh, and I was a certified EMT so I know that the knee bone is connected to the thigh bone. So, if I am sometimes drenched in sweat and shaking to fill out my claim after being electrocuted by the VA, and being told all the tough soldier crap, then I figure people who don't know who I know, or could afford the insurance that I can, and have a boss willing to accommodate my PTSD, depression, and anxiety are pretty much ass out. I just recently received 20% (10% Hearing and 10% tinnitus)on a claim I've been fighting since 2014. (I did it myself... No agency or attorney) If the VA wouldn't make it so hard and complicated maybe these shark companies wouldn't target these Veterans who deserve compensation. I've watch numerous hours of videos and read multiple books.. I don't know if many Veterans would want to put the time in that i did to get approved. (Its extremely frustrating). I was just determined not to give up. Long story short... make it easier for the Vets to get what they deserve. All these millions of dollars that these companies are making would be much better spent in the hands of a disabled veteran... Clay, thanks for all the helpful info. It assisted me on my claim...

I know a coach that worked for VACI that was terminated after they refused to charge a veteran that during the course of their claim became homeless and had severe mental health issues. Once that veterans claim was approved the veteran would have owed VACI $15k, but taking $15k from a disabled homeless vet seemed villainous so the coach discreetly killed the clients account. Soon after they were terminated by VACI, by the CEO no less. I hope this shows you who you're dealing with with VACI.

@@TheCivDiv I wish I had any proof. VACI obviously didn't say this is the reason they were terminated, but it wasn't the only veteran that this coach didn't charge. There was another veteran that was at 90% and filed a claim with VACI to get to 100%, but before that claim could be approved _another_ claim was approved which got him to 100% so he didn't need VACI and VACI wanted the coach to charge him anyways.
It's a strange coincidence that the coach is let go soon after. A strange coincidence indeed.
Also VACI has a 2 year non compete that coaches have to sign.

@RoselenaSpeaks First of all I find this hilarious coming from you. Since you feel that _you_ are able to invalidate _my_ experiences. I mean 95% of people who don't believe this have never actually served in a position helping veterans navigate the VA process
So for the sheer audacity for them to speak on or give an opinion on the situation is asinine and a practice that should be investigated. To simply sit behind a desk and place ones own prejudices and judgments on the situation shows the value these people place veterans and the help they receive. Furthermore don’t rebut this comment to exclaim that this is somehow different because at the end of the day you think that more evidence is warranted where _you_ think it's warranted but that others shouldn't ask for more evidence where _they_ think it's warranted. So please no “We need evidence to show this is true" when you think the VA shouldn't ask for evidence and them asking for evidence is somehow fraud.
As far as devaluing and my opinion and what I have experienced and then giving your opinion as if YOUR WORD and ideals are somehow superior to mine is crazy work.
With that said, if my comment does not ring true for you then skip pass it beloved because your passive aggressive attitude is glaringly similar to what you accuse others of… and quite unsettling but thanks for sharing your unique experience 🤣
Okay so please explain how we're going to get the evidence.
The calls to my knowledge weren't recorded. If they were the calls and emails would be on VACI servers and the coach is no longer working for VACI. This happened years ago so someone would need to be able to pull the records again from servers we don't have access to.
The veterans phone number is no longer in service. I'm assuming that veteran has a new number, but neither I nor the coach have that number.
So yeah I'm all ears on how to get it. I'd love to and I'm open to suggestions.

Hell _my_ coach was let go from VACI for advocating for his client. Actually him advocating for his client over the company got him terminated and soured his relationship with Brian Reese and his direct manager to this day. There _may_ be more to the story, but this is what was communicated to me.
If you really want to know who Brian Reese is you'll easily find that all of the coaches that were originally with the company he's either fired or sued or both. Except one that to my knowledge just walked away after being the last one standing and being promoted to CEO.

If the unaccredited people were required to follow the same standards as those who are accredited, they would probably shut their doors. Attorneys and agents, for example, have to charge a “reasonable” fee (defined as a contingency fee of up to 20 percent of retroactive pay; or other agreements can be up to 33.3 percent of retroactive pay). They cannot charge anything for future gains. So it is in the best interest of an attorney to thoroughly review your case, your file, your medical history, and understand current and former laws and policies to see what they can help you. It is also in their best interest to not drag it out because they don’t get paid unless you do (assuming that’s your agreement). On the same token, that is why the other companies thrive: an attorney will flat-out decline to take on your case if a review of the record doesn’t show anything worth pursuing from a monetary perspective (as they should).
Note: I’m not refuting anything in the video. I’m just providing done commentary.

Heres my take on these companies. I had used one in san diego because i went to the regional va office and got told by the help, "WHAT ARE YOU FILING FOR, YOU DONT KNOW COME BACK WHEN YOU DO?" I thought that the whole reason they were their was to open up my file and help me pick out my conditions. At the time i was low, like hanging myself in the garage low, and running a 3 day fade at the mental hospital to protect myself. So i used a outside company that just compiled my info and sent it in. I didn't get any coaching or help with cnp exams or tips or anything. I got 100% and refused to pay 7 grand for that award. Its insane to me, my back pay was 18k, and they want 40% of it, so i just refused to pay. I rationalized it to this, my suffering for the past 5 years from the navy is in no way going to a company that did the basic job of what the VA is supposed to help you with. Now im getting collections letters, but ill figure out that down the line when they make this practice illegal. How can you ask a vet to pay out of their pain and suffering and aggressive ammounts. If it was like 500-1000$ maybe i can see it but 7 grand, oh and they had teirs for rating. 100%=7 grand, 90%= 6 grand, 80%= 5 grand ect. How they sleep at night is beyond me.

Same, but the main difference is that when I filed with that company my claim was denied and I had to fight my way back. In the meantime they fired my coach so I was on my own, and they never sent me a bill or tried to help me once I was denied. What I learned in that process allowed me to become a veteran coach myself. I worked for a claims consulting company for awhile and I have done some independent consulting as well. I've received $7k and more from veterans, but they were happy to pay it to have someone to talk to who has done it. I've never gone after a veteran who wasn't happy to pay me. There are many who disappear as soon as they get what they want. Is what it is.

You made the choice to go to them for help and they did help you.
Even if they didn’t coach you, they were still part of the process to get you to 100%.
Now you’re stiffing them on the bill because you don’t like how much they’re taking?
Didn’t they talk to you or walk you through the details or agreements?
Did you go into this knowing that “100% = 7 grand bill”?

Full disclosure, I’m a VACI client and yes, paying the fee isn’t ideal but when you consider the life long benefits after receiving some solid one on one education, I believe it’s worth the cost but everyone needs to make that decision on their own

I feel ya, but at the same time it’s your evidence and your evidence alone that pushes for SC. We gotta look at the entire picture not just the good side of the house.

I live in Maine and recently got 10% tinnitus and 0% for hearing. I had no idea how to start this process two years ago, but bumbled my way through it. Now I’m considering filing secondary claim for insomnia and anxiety, but am hesitant because of all the stuff I’ve seen in last two years. Any recommendations guys?

When I filed I first tried a State VSO, 11 month later (the 3rd VSO) submitted my FD claim. Partially successful. My 2nd submission the VSO chocked, and i forced a submission and was successful.. HONESTLY I WAS ALMOST SUCKED IN BY va insider, brian reese. I am a smart guy but I THOUGHT THEY WERE PART OF THE PROCESS until I saw the KILLER COST of using va claim insider. Combat Craig actually called me and was good to answer questions.

I look at VA Claims Insider/VA Guardian the same way I looked at the company called "It Works!" Remember that company It Works? It was an MLM company that seemed to be a pyramid scheme of sorts. They sold products including some cream and a wrap that they claimed caused people to lose belly fat. There was also an emphasis on getting new people to sell for the company.
They did their thing. Some people called them out for various questionable practices and products. However, the owner is laughing all the way to the bank. I no longer see people all over social media selling their products anymore, but they had their run and the owners are set for life. Process that for a moment.

I’m getting ready to file my final claims which should get me properly rated for my conditions with presumptive claim, increases and supplemental denial secondaries. Yes, it’s a very tedious process, LOTS OF DOCTOR visits gathering more medical evidence. Has been a 3 year process thus far, @90% now. Got educated on process, spent time and have done everything myself. Screw paying these companies! If you have solid medical evidence you will get the compensation you deserve!

I agree. They just throw a lot of mud on the wall, see what sticks. Most know nothing about providing evidence. They’re trained by the VA in NH. The veteran needs to be their own best advocate, educate themselves on the process

If a vet doesn't have the time or resources to educate themselves enough to file their own claim with a VSO, who the hell are we to judge or stop them if they want to pay a lot of money to have someone do it for them?
