    I think Mistborn is a great place to start - it's my personal favorite of his, but Warbreaker is also a great option! It's a standalone and has a super cool magic system. It'll give you a great idea of what Brandon can do in just one book!!

    • @anabruns
      @anabruns  5 месяцев назад +1

      Ooh great, thank you for the input! It’s good to have a standalone option if it can’t get to the series. So excited to break into the work of Brando Sando :)

    I kind of went back and fourth between once upon a broken heart and caravel series… so honestly you can read them in either sequence. One way it’s like you’re reading a prequel, and the other way it’s like you’re reading a sequel. ❤

      @anabruns  6 месяцев назад +1

      Ok perfect thank you for letting me know!! I think I’ll definitely go with OUABH first since that’s what I’m most interested in and I can always read caraval second if I want more of the world haha

    I just finished the Cemetery of Forgotten Books series. There are 4 books in the series. The Prisoner of Heaven is actually book 3. IMHO you may want to read book 2 'The Angel's Game' before you read Prisoner of Heaven. Just a suggestion. Happy Reading🙂

    • @anabruns
      @anabruns  3 месяца назад

      Thank you so much for this! I actually got Angels Game as well and am planning on reading that one soon and then Prisoner of Heaven after! My husband has already read Prisoner of Heaven and is reading Angel’s game now so it will be interesting how our reading experiences differ with different orders☺️

    As someone who has read both Caraval and OUABH i would suggest going in that order. OUABH the first book has dome spoilers for the end of the Caraval series and in Caraval you also meet Jacks which is the main male lead ofbthe second series.

    Beautiful set up. I love your Botanical Anthology sticker book 😍 I just finished reading The Shadow of the Wind too! It was so good. This year I read all but one of the Brontë books, my favourites were Jane Eyre and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. I also started War and Peace for the third time and still was unable to finish it. If you read a chapter a day it will take you right through till the end of the year. It’s a great way to read it. Good luck with your reading goals for 2024 😊

    I read Anne Frank’s diary in middle school and absolutely loved it. I’m due for a reread as an adult myself, but I think you’ll enjoy that. You can’t go wrong with C.S. Lewis. I’m finishing up The Screwtape Letters right now for the first time and knew it was a 5 star read for me from the second chapter. It really makes me think on my own life and identify those seemingly little temptations in a new light, and I feel for me it needs to be a yearly read from now on. I read Mere Christianity along with my then-boyfriend before I became a Christian per a friend’s recommendation because I had so many questions about Christianity. I thought it was an excellent read at the time, and now that I am a Christian and several years have passed, it’s also overdue for a reread. I hope you enjoy them! You have a lovely reading journal setup and great reading goals. 😊

    • @anabruns
      @anabruns  4 месяца назад

      Ooh sounds like we have very similar book tastes! I read a lot of WWII historical fiction/non-fiction, so I can’t believe I haven’t read Anne Franks diary! But should be a really great read this year. And I’ve only read a few individual chapters of Mere Christianity but never cover to cover, so im very much excited to finally take in the whole thing. I feel like C.S. Lewis is just a treasure trove waiting for me. So cool that Mere Christianity played a role in your faith journey :) I love hearing about the impact books can have, one of the reasons I love reading!❤️

    I read The Unquiet a few years ago and LOVED it! It really helped me better understand myself and feel less alone and less crazy. I would highly recommend for any introvert who finds themselves in a sea of extroverts... or for extroverts who are trying really hard to understand their introverted friend or loved one.
    I am also in the middle of reading Atomic Habits and... oh Boy, it's definitely helping me to break my bad habits and provides a ton of useful tips to help you be successful.
    Both are great nonfiction picks for 2024!!

    • @anabruns
      @anabruns  6 месяцев назад

      That makes me so motivated to make Atomic Habits one of my first reads of the year! And thank you for The Unquiet recommendation!! I’m definitely going to check that out after Quiet. Sounds like it would be very helpful for understanding/accepting my introversion☺️

      As someone who finally finished reading all the Cosmere books this year (along with the Secret Projects), Mistborn is a great place to start with Brandon Sanderson’s books. Everybody has a different opinion about what order to read his books in, but I was advised to start with Mistborn and I loved the 1st trilogy - now I’ve been to the Dragonsteel convention (which my brother - who got me into Sanderson/Cosmere - and I call “Sando-con”) for the last 2 years!

    Well, I can't really speak to what order Caraval should be read in (before or after the one you mentioned) but I can say that I read it in December as part of a readalong and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. And I do want to read the second book. Now, it's not perfect, but it was enjoyable.
    I read the first VE Schwab book you have - A Darker Shade of Magic after it sitting on my shelves for years and it lived up to the hype! I always worry that I won't like books that are all over booktube so I put them off. I am making it a goal to finish up the series this year.
    Your journal is lovely and I'm subscribing to follow along - gotta love when the algorithym gets it right!

      Glad to hear you enjoyed Caraval and A Darker Shade of Magic!! I feel the same way about popular books because sometimes they just don’t hit and then it’s extra sad. I’m keeping expectations medium for Caraval but can’t help be really excited for A Darker Shade☺️ glad you’re here and enjoyed the journal - “sometimes the algorithm gets it right” has to be one of my favorite comments!!😂🥰
