Thanks for making this video. Giving me ideas on top of the custom work I am thinking about already.
If I wanted to clear mines like that all clear effect do I spray paint the red parts? Someone please help with a comment as I’m tryin go to tackle these
.......Can you not bake the tail light?
They say it's not possible, only headlights can be done this way (www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104662)
Ok, I am just about done with my tail lights. Just waiting for my second tail light to dry. This does take all day so be prepared. Take your time. You dont wont to crack or break your tail lights. I will be posting a video when I am done on my other channel.
Just confirming that the tail lights can actually be baked to be split open? I bought an extra set of tails cuz I’m terrified of screwing up 😅
So my method involves a lot of cutting with the soldering gun, hence there is a big chance of messing things ups; such as melting the chrome inside housing and moisture build up if not sealed thoroughly, you must be very careful. I don't think there's a way to bake it open but I'm not entirely sure on that myself either. Take your time and be meticulous!
We're can I buy the Leds ? I wana do this to my 300
ChiCitySoul Check out diode dynamics, they offer variety of LED lights for projects like this.
ChiCitySoul what are you trying to do to your 300?
Well, one of my led lights went out of my valenti taillights, and was wondering how i was gonna open the damn thing
Might as well do this to mine, my driver side one has condensation & water. So hopefully this will resolve it & make it look better
Good idea, it'll look great afterwards!
Hope I do it right, it'll save me money. Cost $299 on FT86 Speed Factory, doubt that your materials cost anywhere near that !
Just remember to take your time with it and you should have no problem. Also don't force anything open, always cut off every bits of plastic little strings. You'll see what I'm talking about when you do this.
Lol well I failed, I shouldn't of even starts cause I got the water out easy. Then tried opening & messed up some of the chrome .... plus takes for every to cut.
:( I emphasized the same exact issue on my video, should of payed more attention man...
Dang thats a gnarly modification. I was looking for ideas on ways to modify by headlights on my impreza, and came across a similar method, but instead of using the solder iron, you bake the whole headlight assembly, and the glue that holds together the housing can be pried apart . You should look into it if you want a cool look for the headlights aswell
+BAYNC Unfortunately cutting into it is the only way to open this one on the FRS and BRZ. I really hoped I could just bake it but there are no alternatives :/
You can bake the headlights on an impreza, but the tail lights have to be cut
Just like the twins
What rims are those. They are fire
Brendan Paez They are by XXR. Forgot the model name but you can google it, it’s one of their popular design.
Do you have to cut them? Why not melting the adhesive?
No cutting necessary. I highly suggest you use a heat gun, if not please set your oven at no higher than 150F. Pre-warm for 5-7min and leave it for about 7min, but make sure to keep an eye on it.
@@TougeKing are you now saying they can be separated in the oven without cutting like 6ou did?
how long did this take?
Several hours, you can complete this project within a day.
If I were to add a clear coat over this would I remove the tape first then add the clear to like everything? Or just keep it on until I'm completely done? Don't know if the tape would get stuck if I add the clear over it and wait till it dries. Sorry if I sound like a noob, Going to be my first time trying this.
Eternal Beast If it was me, I'd just apply it w/out taking off the tape. But make sure the pain is completely dry!
+TougeKing alright I'll do that, thanks man.
Np bud. Also, be sure to take your time when splitting the case, dont rush it.
+TougeKing yeah I know, I read in your video how easily you can burn the chrome housing if you're not careful when cutting around the tail light. I'll definitely take my time on this. Going to try to add some sequential led strips awhile I'm at it lol.
Eternal Beast Fosho, lmk how it turns out & good luck friend!
i should've done this to my taillights... haha
Oh yea totally dude! It just makes em look more badass haha
is there any other way to access the chrome without melting the plastic??
Unfortunately no :/
What you see here is pretty much the only way to get it to open.
TougeKing....couldnt you put it in the oven for a bit so that the adhesive could be melted a bit and easily removed afterwards with a lttle bit of pulling force?
@@Ali184Haider absolutely, bake your tail lights for 1 hour at 220 degrees
Lol can you do this for me @_@ so afraid to mess something up/
Haha I know the feels. To be frank I totally messed up my one side trying to figure it our the first time :/ But hey, if you follow my instructions carefully and just take your time with it, you should come out of it okay lol. I say give it a shot and if it doesn't work out, well use it as an excuse to buy a LED unit xD
Hahaha thats a good idea
TougeKing were can i buy the halo ring lights for tail lights I'm gonna do this for my 300????
What in the fuck
HAHA Exactly.
Bake them @220 bro...
Marc Melena To split it open? Or you talking about the paint?
To open them up
Mine took about 13 minutes. Just be sure to put it back in the oven when it starts cooling off. I had to put it in twice to get the lens completely off
Marc Melena do they have clips to hold the lens in along with sealant?
sorry Marc, do you mean °F or °C?
no gloves??? christ dude ,,,
