  • First impressions of comparing a Parkside wagon to a Slaters wagon kit. Not all good. Not all bad. #modelrailway #gog #modeltrain #ogauge #slaters #ParksidePeco #GaugeOGuild

I have a Slaters unmarked lime van, unbuilt as yet.
Lime and soda ash was used by the LMS to soften the water for railway engine boilers.

Hi Ian thank you for another interesting video.
Lime mortar was used to build buildings in early England.
The materials used then would fail if modern mortar is used. Therefore lime mortar is still used today to conserve old buildings.
Builders lime and agricultural lime are two different products.
I have a number of brass wagon kits from Jim McGowen of Connoisseur Models.
The brass kits use Slaters wheels.
I have not built them yet, but I have purchased all the nice tools required.
