"When the bad comes again, I'm gonna be next to you." Without a doubt the most tender and loving thing a man could ever say to a woman. At the end of the day, that's all we want, for our man to be there for us when we need him.
Really? I don't mean to sound like a smart ass but that is the single most decisive secret about you women? I guess I should start listening more often then maybe I'll get some tail again.
@@howardhung4652 Most people don't recognize that even in the first two Godfathers, he had a few of those mid-sentence outbursts that comedians love to parody. And they say he was his most subtle, that he should've won Oscars for them (though they're not wrong). It seems to me like critics and audiences just nitpick the scenes where the script sets up Pacino for loudness while either failing to notice the quiet scenes and movies, or choosing to ignore them entirely. It's no big deal when he's young but terrible when he grows older?
That's one of the reasons why I love this film so much -- because Pacino had the opportunity to step away from his typical "tough guy" onscreen persona and do something very different, and he did a good job of it. Johnny is just an ordinary guy who in some ways has been beaten up by life and now is simply looking for something that will last, something he can look forward to -- and that's a far cry from the kind of badass character he's portrayed so often in the past.
"when the bad comes, I'll be next to you" sometimes people don't wish for bad to never come but sure they wish for someone to be beside them. This scene is so vulnerable yet so sweet and tender.
"I am, I'm afraid. I'm afraid to be alone, I'm afraid not to be alone. I'm afraid of what I am, what I'm not, what I might become, what I might never become." Such aching trauma, Frankie's bravery here is incredible. That's probably the first time in her life she's ever admitted this to anyone.
Sure but most people (well, at least those who have been through a lot) are afraid of precisely these things. Usually people don't admit this not because they are not ''brave'' - but because noone really wants to listen.
Michelle killed with this role. I watched this movie for the first time today and OMG.. I have always thought of her as a very good actress but she bought me as a true admirer of her acting forever with this movie. The way she expressed fears and anxieties she had been facing ever since her traumatizing experience with that bully is just overwhelming. It is so real and true, the way she shields her vulnerability and sensitivity, and sensuality, by coming off all rough and aloof. And to see how every defense mechanism crumbles evetually before love she was given and the prospect of "love, no matter what ", all the time wanting that to happen and at the same time driving it away, is unbelievably well acted. I think she completely stole the movie and I must say I didn't like Pacino's acting that much although I'm a die-hard fan.
I just learned about this film by accident today as my FRPG friend has sent me a clip from the bowling scene. As the main characters reminded us the characters we play (I write as the emphatic and flirty male character, she as the reserved and strong female character), and I like Al Pacino I wanted to watch the movie instantly and did so. It was worth every second. Truly amazing movie, so poignant, warm, lovely, believable, simple and complicated at the same time, and with the 90s aesthetics I feel so nostalgic about. Michel and Al act beautifully. I'm so glad I've watched it! ❤
Any woman who's been through long term abuse --physical, emotional or both--from a man who claimed to love her but didn't act in a loving manner....immediately recognizes the conflicting emotions of Frankie's PTSD. I teared up watching this scene. Outside of the lost pregnancy aspect, for me, all of it really hits close to home. Tenderness from guys like Johnny is absolutely vital to our healing. Otherwise we turn into bitter, distrustful, walled-off misandrists in the same way emotionally burned men become those misogynists we women unexpectedly encounter in daily life and online and so very much detest.
This is why I love Al Pacino-- the heart behind the actor-- very empathetic. He's everybody's favorite badass. For me, he's every woman's favorite lover-- not fighter. Too bad he's getting long in the tooth, now. Still totally f*ck him-- just sayin'. Lol! Pacino-- there must be a coffee or spirit named for him in a New York restuarant.
There's a Johnny out there somewhere for all of us....we just need to do our part in the form of some personal work in order to at least be able to meet him halfway. Then the right guy--a good guy--will find us eventually, but we also have to have the ability to recognize him when he does show up in our lives.
Essa cena é linda, na verdade, o filme todo é lindo, mas essa cena consegue ser mais ainda. Al Pacino é espetacular, é impossível não se apaixonar por suas atuações, essa é um exemplo. ❤ Johnny é um personagem apaixonante
Why not? I liked it because it gave Pacino a chance to do something different from his usual "tough guy" roles and play a character who is sweet, romantic, tender, and warm.

Her portrayal of vulnerability in this scene is outstanding.

+Urethra Franklin I didn't say anything gross.
This is one of Pacino's underrated performances, imo. And Michelle acts so beautifully in this scene it made me cry.
All the people who say Pacino just screams his way through every performance have probably never seen this movie.
or the godfather

I really wish he filmed more like this in 90s.

Al Pacino can play ANYTHING
YES
So does Michelle.

I'm 22 years old and I watched this movie the last Saturday and I really like it
Where did you watch it please tell...I can't find it anywhere??
No. You are 27 year old.
2 heavyweights at their craft that I have nothing but the utmost respect for.
I wanna sue the Academy for not giving her any Oscar yet
There's a Johnny out there for everyone
Jerry Wilder where? Can u send the address at least of one
I hope so
Problem is most chicks I’ve dated stop at the ‘you can’t, I’m sorry’ part. Very very seldom you get a frankie that reneges on the wallowing
@@robbillington1982 .....I'm really want to understand your comment but can't wrap my mind around what's meant by "reneges on the wallowing".

Johnny's such a good guy...every woman (or at least every woman who can appreciate it!) ought to have a man like that in her life
Thats what real acting is

She's finally letting him in. This is a healthy step for her.

This is how Tony and Elvira reconciled
Such phenomenal performances that you completely forget about Scarface.

After crying incessantly on screen she went laughing away to the bank with a fat pay check
Why cant Al just call up clamenza and make the guy swim with the fishes?
such a deep words wow

How Tony & Elvira could/should have turned out?
in my opinion this is an opposite of eastwood-streep film bridges of madison county
Why is she crying 😢?
So rhat Al pacino will become emotional
good guy...but i think it's the only film that i wasn't crazy about pacino's acting
