Since I had to edit the original Rogue One footage quite a lot to upload it to RUclips, I have uploaded a copyright-free version for all my Patreons, so you can enjoy the content without all the grain, pitch shifts, extra cuts, and filters on top of the movie footage. I would give access to my channel members as well, but unfortunately, I cannot upload this version to RUclips since the movie will get blocked immediately. Kim, You are right about the Imperial commander who stood up to Vader (& ordered the destruction of Princess Leia's planet) being the same character, Grand Moff "Governor"Tarkin, in A New Hope, seen in this movie at the 18:00 minute mark. Interestingly even though the actor who played him in a New Hope passed away in 1994, a plaster cast of his face was made in 1984 for another movie and his family gave permission to use it as the pattern for mapping his face on top of the new actor playing the character. The same technique was used to map Carrie Fischer's face to the actress playing her, but she was still alive at the time and approved the request herself, to recreate a young Princess Leia for the end of the movie.
That thumbnail is exactly the same facial expression i made when i realised how atrocious the script, acting and storyline had become in comparison to the original star wars trilogy.
Thank you for the message, I had hoped that you stay safe from all the copyright stuff going on. Since we(I) have seen the footage already it's fine with the blurred/ pitch shift/ filters, Give it a nostalgic feel (as if it was made the same time as the original.)
What I especially love about Rogue One is how believable it takes place in the same universe as the original trilogy. They did a fantastic job recreating the same aesthetic and production design while also updating it with methods that weren't as readily available then. It really shows with your reaction especially as the way you edited the footage makes it feel like it was made around the same time the original trilogy was made.
Oh yes, it has that gritty, lived in feel of the OT. The prequels (and sequels, but I hardly think about those as a die hard Star Wars fan) all look fresh and clean and brand new. I assume that was intentional in the prequels, as a full scale galactic war hadn't broke out yet and ships and stuff weren't all patched together with spare parts yet. Rogue One looks like you'd get tetanus from scraping your leg on a ships hull, and I'm all for it!
I remember this in theaters. Disbelieved gasps, sniffings in the audience when Jyn and Andor died... then when Darth Vader's breathing came, everything went quiet... Then came light saber. Cheering, clapping... it was instant mood change. And the collective gasp of last revial. Amazing experience.
Kim: "Are we gonna see more of Daddy Vader? I want Daddy Vader to go full rage." Yours truly: *rubs hands* Vader: *gives the audience the most badass and terrifying scene in the Star Wars saga* Kim, you're amazing! I've been watching all your Star Wars reactions. I absolutely love how detailed you are. Your videos are long cause you share a lot of scenes and pause often to comment on the movie, and that's awesome. Never apologize for it, it's actually a great thing that makes you stand out from the rest. I've seen many RUclipsrs' reactions and you're by far my favorite. I've seen some of your reactions more than once, something I haven't done with anyone else. Watching you react is like watching a movie with a friend. Lol Keep up the great work, girl!
Yasssss she's quite good. I enjoyed watching her become a fan of Star Wars. I was married for 9 years and my ex wife prided herself on never seeing a single Star Wars film. I could never get her to watch them. I enjoy watching reactions of people who are seeing it for the first time.
Somewhere nearby on a desolate planet... Luke is unaware of all this and doing his chores working on the moisture evaporators to bring in their meager water harvest.
Amazing reaction! There is no need to apologise for pausing it to make your comments. I much prefer you pausing the movie than talking over it and missing important stuff. And we're here to watch your reaction. I doubt there are many people watching this video who haven't seen the movie.
In the rebel attack to Scarif, the red five pilot unfortunately died. And the rebellion chose later a new red five pilot... Luke Skywalker as we saw in ep IV and the rest.
based on your reaction to this and to Cassian’s character, you really should watch Andor. created by same guy who co-wrote this movie with similar tones and themes with the time and budget to fully explore the nuances this movie- as fantastic as it is- can only touch on. the best Star Wars to come out in 40 years. you’ll love it.
The other live-action Star Wars shows are ok shows that I really only watch because they're Star Wars. Andor is a legitimately good show that just happens to be Star Wars.
The reason the Vader voice sounds different between here and OWK is because this was the final performance by James Earl Jones. This was his peace out! ✌🏼
He's just sadly too old and doesn't sound the same anymore, but I like to think Vader's voice modulator wasn't tuned right because he JUST got out of his bacta tank and didn't have time to adjust it yet lol
@@LeroOfTheKodiak Well all right, but he sounds a lot more like his old portrayals than does the new voice, i assume from Hayden. The point of using his voice was it had more depth. Hayden wasn't chosen for his voice, but for his appearance, including his skin color.
@@no_rubbernecking I feel like to me, and this is just my opinion, that Vader sounded SIGNIFICANTLY different than any other portrayal of him on screen thus far. I don't think he sounded all that much like the OT Vader, or from any other media. It was VERY noticeable to me in theaters, and I almost assumed it wasn't actually James. I still enjoy it, I just had to come up with my own head cannon to explain the different sounding voice. I picture him trying to relax in his bath on Mustafar, and Krennic being the sore little loser he is, charging in unannounced and Vader having to quickly suit up and deal with his pettiness, so he may not have had time to fine tune all the little things about his suit once donning it.
Rouge one is by my far my favorite. I took my son to see it in theaters. He was 10 years old, at the end he looked at me with tears in his eyes and said “well that sucks, they all died “.
@@stefangonzo 100% agree. Even if they kept Thrawn's 'Rebels' arc as canon his return would have made much more sense than 'Palpatine has returned...uh, somehow.' Ugh, I hate those sequels.
i'm so glad they had Chirrut in this story. he's a good representation of the fact that there are many older traditions that use the Force beyond just Jedi and Sith. most of them were wiped out by the many wars between the two primary philosophies that generally follow the Dark or Light sides. the earliest concepts of the Jedi were inspired by Eastern "morality warriors" like samurai, who also often followed a hierarchical leadership (usually serving a single master seen as noble). Chirrut represents something different, though - a more natural or personal relationship with the Force more like ascetic monks. Some people group "everyone in between" as "grey jedi", but that term doesn't work across the board for me. I think Chirrut practices Teras Kasi, a martial art form likely older than the Jedi Council and lightsabers, and may be a part of an old monastic sect. I think it's worth comparing and contrasting him with Qui-Gon Jinn, who was certainly a Jedi, but also had a stronger personal connection with the living Force and believed it to be a stronger guide than the Jedi Council at times (I wouldn't call him a grey Jedi either, except perhaps very Light-grey).
Yes exactly! And really, this is what Disney Starwars actually needs to start exploring more now, delving really FAR AWAY into the past of the Galaxy Far, Far Away, and exploring force users and force sensitives and the whole ideologies around the force, outside of just the "Jedi & Sith". Atleast Dave Filoni has tried to touch on this with his *Ahsoka* series through the Witches of Dathomir.
Rogue One is definitely one of my top SW films and I saw A New Hope when it came out. Tony Gilroy and his team did such an amazing job. For that reason I cannot recommend "Andor" enough. It is such a good set of stories in this amazing universe. And of course, on a selfish note, I hope you watch it and post to YT. Great reaction Kim! Cheers!
@@stigkenobi7525 Lucas' fims stopped being Star Wars when he was forces to rush out Return of the Jedi. After that it was all a merchandising cash grab. Rogue One is more Star Wars than any of the prequels. I will forever be grateful for what George originally created but he lost sight of his original vision and purpose. Then more so in the mid 90s when he went back and ruined the Original Trilogy by adding bad, dumb, extra CGI scenes. Disney didn't ruin Star Wars, George Lucas had already accomplished that feat in 1999 with the prequel trilogy. Then, just a few years later he did the same with Indiana Jones. He's not singular in this though as Peter Jackson did something similar when he made the Hobbit Trilogy, borrowing from the exact blueprint that George used.
This movie is, in every way, my favorite Star Wars movie. Like, I get that the Jedi are major actors on the galactic stage, but I've... honestly always enjoyed the stories of the non-force users. If anything, they've got more compelling stories, because they don't have the force to guide them along. They're just... everyday people doing the best they can. Still, as much as the movie made you cry as characters were dying in the end, the novelization is even more of a gut-punch. Each character's final scene is from their internal, first-person perspective. K-2SO has his internal diagnostics running in the background as he's constantly calculating the probabilities. So, he's having to re-route functionality through different systems as he takes damage, all while working to keep Jyn and Cassian's odds of success the highest he can. And then Chirrut... as he's processing what he can tell about his surroundings, you constantly get his "I am one with the force, the force is with me" mantra repeated throughout the passage. Such... beautiful, heartbreaking sacrifices. All for the sake of hope.
Yes, the Andor series sets up the charters and motives of this series (your awareness, midpoint) -one series made, second will bring up to this film. Diego L’ has been glad to explore his character, and this universe “more”.
Are you planning to watch Andor? It's an amazing prequel to this amazing movie! You would love it. Everything about it is my favorite SW content because it's just so phenomenal. Tony Gilroy stepped in to save this film, and oversaw the production of Andor. It's a masterpiece in dialogue, writing, acting, character, and story, and has some amazing visuals to go along with it. Andor focuses on the little guy and all the little nuances that make up the empire vs the rebellion. PLEASE REACT to it for us if you can💖
Tony Gilroy didn’t “save” anything. There were late on script changes that were decided on once a directors cut was made… designed to streamline the original script and simplify areas of the film… mostly handled in post production, altered later scenes with heavy CGI mixed with pre existing Gareth Edwards’s shot footage. They way some of you go on about Gilroy “saving” the movie is so weird.
I really appreciate that you paused the movie to make the comments - I wish more reactors did that! If you do decide to do, Andor reactions, you will probably need to do the same thing. If you thought the dialogue in this movie was good… In Andor, it is absolutely phenomenal. The series also starts to answer your questions about Saw and focuses on exactly what kinds of sacrifices were needed to form the Rebellion. And yes, there is no harm in watching them this way round. It’s interesting to see Cassian‘s journey. He is very different at the start of the series.
I gotta say by the end there where you exclaimed "LET'S GO" I just teared up! Whenever I watch this one, I always have to play the first few minutes of A New Hope, to see the Tantive being chased and shot at, just for closure's sake, lol. I've actually seen one or two reaction channels out there start out the franchise with this one first, and then go on to ep4, and I have to say it makes for a brilliant viewing option.
This movie really put the War in Star Wars into focus. It showed how war is a dirty business no matter who you are fighting for. And for that, I think this is the best Star Wars movie out there.
Out of all the deaths, K-2SO was the most emotional. Even as he was on his last knees, he still held on long enough to help his friends achieve their goal. My favorite characters overall were Chirrut Îmwe and Bodhi Rook. The Ip Man himself Donnie Yen is always a win. I also teared up as Chirrut in his dying words told his friend Baze Malbus to find him in the Force. Chirrut isn’t a Jedi, but it’s implied that he’s Force-sensitive. He was able to sense Jyn’s kyber crystal. What’s special about kyber crystals is that they’re connected to the Force. They’re also what give power to the lightsabers. Also, Chirrut gets the funniest moment in the entire movie when they bagged him. Diego Luna reprised his role as Cassian Andor for the Spanish dub. He also has his own series titled Andor which takes place five years before the events of Rogue One. Yeah, he also dubbed for that show. The first season has 12 episodes. A second season is in the works, but the recent strikes have delayed production. There were also plans to make up to five seasons, but after some extensive reviewing they decided to conclude the show with season two.
I love the absolute audacity of Lei lying to Vader saying she was on a diplomatic mission while actively being chased by Vader's ship from this battle. LOL
44:30 Don't apologize for pausing. That's what you should do. I dislike when a reactor keeps the movie playing and talks for a couple minutes, and we who have already seen the movie are thinking to ourselves, "You just missed something interesting ... now you just missed a key plot point", and then later the reactor is, "Why did he do that?", and we're like, "Well, if had seen that key plot point earlier ..."
As a Vader fan I was so happy with that final action scene - but just as they were closing the second hatch and you see Vader cutting down those remaining rebel soldiers it was actually terrifying. He is such an intimidating figure. Still the best suited Vader scene in the entire post OT era. By the way your movie reactions are superb! Please react to more :)
This is one of my favorite Star Wars movies as well, definitely my favorite of the modern era. It adds some real depth to the universe -- it isn't all high-minded Jedi and cartoonishly evil Sith. The CGI bringing back actors who were either dead (like Peter Cushing, Grand Moff Tarkin) or just not that young any more (like Carrie Fisher at the time) got a lot of hate for falling into the uncanny valley, but I was prepared to live with that. It does raise current concerns about AI actor replacement -- I hope the actors (or their estates) received appropriate compensation for the use of their likenesses. In any case, it's the emotional core of the movie, the characters' journeys that really hit home and make the line from the original trilogy "Many Bothans died to bring us this information" take on a whole new level of depth. Pleasure to watch as always!
i have only seen your bg3 playthrough so far and its editing was way above what gaming videos tend to offer. but holy shit the production quality of this reaction is basically the best on youtube.
Kim's comments were insightful, and often prescient! The force is with very strong with THIS reactor! Def the very best reaction I've seen for Rogue1... For me, EmpireStrikesBack, then NewHope, and finally THIS movie are the top 3. The others, inc ReturnOfTheJedi, are far, far behind the curve.
Rogue One is easily the best Star Wars movie since the originals were first released. Having so many named characters we all cared about, die... it really flushed out the drama and horror in a way most of the others never did. This movie also ties modern themes into the story of how the princess got the death star plans... tying together the old and the new in a really seemless way. I am one with the force, and the force is one with me...
That’s Senator Mon Mothma, the woman wearing white. You last saw her played by a different actress in Return of the Jedi during the meeting in Act Two about attacking the Death Star. That’s also indeed Governor Tarkin. I’m looking forward to seeing your reaction to Darth Vader at the movie climax and the cameo afterwards. Imagine where Darth was in Episode III and now in the end of this film, intoxicated and overwhelmed by the dark side of The Force. Notice there’s a scene as the Fleet is about to launch. They’re going to fight after all, as Act Three kicks into gear… Mon Mothma and the adopted father of Leia talk. They agree Obi Wan must be able to help. Then he tells Mothma, “I would trust HER with my life.”
Fantastic reaction! I especially like how you pause to talk about what just happened, so that you don't miss the next thing coming. You were spot on with your expectations. As a bridge from III to IV this worked perfectly, and as a prequel it gave us setup without any bullshit or frivolous sidetracks, unlike the previous ones. It was far more masterful storytelling. Although the CGI was imperfect, Tarkin's appearance was SO satisfying and the dynamics among the Imperial command personnel was exactly what one would expect. And then for the princess to be in the last scene was just icing on the cake.
I expected very little from the Andor show, but I was completely blown away by it. Best Star Wars anything in my book. There is not all that much action in it, some episodes have none. The writing kept me glued to each and every dialogue though. Please react to it on RUclips...
Kim, I've been watching your reactions and playthroughs of two of my favorite modern mythologies ever, Star Wars and Mass Effect, and your enthusiasm for both as I have followed your journey has been so infectious! Such a joy to watch! Thank you for sharing your journey through these amazing worlds with us!
You gotta catch up with Andor it's made by a UK production team so a bit less Disney interference with the writing/narrative, season 2 is going to be crazy 💯🔥 so glad you liked Rogue one! It's my favourite too cried in the cinema this was peak star wars before the dark times.. before the last jedi 🥺
No interference at all. Katheleen Kennedy was just mentioned as one of the producers, but she disregarded it because it "didn´t had legacy characters in it". Thankfully. Out came one of the best written SW ever.
@@2nd_Directorate I don't know about all that but that southpark episode was hilarious 😅 I just wish Disney/KK wouldn't get so involved with movies.. and let the directors/writers cook! 🔥The stars aligned with Andor but I can't help but think all the talent and hardwork by the Hundreds of employees on other star wars projects just gone to waste..
You do briefly hear the Rogue One theme in A New Hope. It’s when Obi Wan tells Luke, “I need your help, Luke, she needs your help. I’m getting too old for this sort of thing.” It’s as if the Rogue One team has no handed the baton to Luke for the fight.
Mads' brother Lars Mikkelson also plays a character in Star Wars that is a fan favorite. Peter Cushing (the man who played Tarkin in ANH) passed in 1994. So it's CGI on a body double, with voice actor Stephen Stanton (who voices Tarkin in Clone Wars and other media) doing the voice. If I can say anything about Disney Star Wars, they've made Darth Vader actually terrifying.
Saw Gererra is a great example of how in this universe it is very common to replace limbs with machines and perhaps that the more you replace the more extreme and removed from humanity you become.
I loved your reaction. Your pauses are always intelligent, interesting and funny. I'm so glad you "got" Rogue One. Some reactors are being prompted by their patrons to watch it BEFORE seeing A New Hope which is just baffling.❤️
To me, a New Hope will always be the ultimate Star Wars film, but Rogue One is easily the best _film_ of the whole saga. It is very well written, has unmatched emotional depth and the best acting of them all. It is not a children's film, it Star Wars for us adults.
@@andymiller6661 , I suppose that is a matter of taste. The story of the prequels combined is structurally very good in my view, but the writing doesn't help when the films themselves are so poorly executed (you know, Jar Jar...).
interesting fact about this film is that practically the most expensive scenes were those with Tarkin (the actor died, the contract expired and studio had to "negotiate" with the family about the use of his image)
1:08:08 YES!! I know right!? I love the Vader scene slaughtering Rebel Scum! It's absolutely frickin awesome! What always amazes me about Darth Vader showing up right at the end there in that corridor is those Rebel Soldiers, they have no real clue who he is! WE the audience know all too well, but they don't and neither does the Rebellion at this point, Vader is literally this Relic of the past; of those previous 3 movies that make up the prequels. He is a relic of the old Jedi, and right now at this point during the time of "Rogue One", you see the Empire has basically lied to the entire Galaxy and deceived the people into thinking the Jedi were Bad and had betrayed the Republic. It's just so cool, that shot showing Vader through the door as it's closing and he's just there slaughtering those brave, helpless rebel soldiers, and it cuts to that one Rebel soldier shouting "take off!!" I love it.
I'm glad you liked it. I love Star Wars, all the films and much more, but this is the best film by far. I'm sure you'll enjoy Andor. It's very, very good.
The opening section was filmed in Iceland. The desert planet was filmed in Jordan. The ocean islands were the Maldive Islands in the Indian Ocean. SW gets good locations. 🌎
Hey Kim! Shout out from the US Marine Corps! I absolutely love your reactions and I'd love this movie so much. 1:05:42 They forgot there's no wind in space! Look at Vaders cape! And yes that scene is terrifyingly sick! Kekek Kek = Lol It's a World Of Warcraft thing! Kekek Keep up the great reviews!
Great reaction to my favorite Star Wars film! Fun fact- The rebel at the end that tells "Launch!" is the film's director, Gareth Edwards! If I made this movie, I'd put myself in it too!
To the best of my knowledge, throughout the rest of the movies, the Rogue 1 callsign was never used again even though the rebel alliance fighter squadron was called Rogue Squadron. The person in the #1 slot was always referred to as Rogue Leader, then Rogue 2, and Rogue 3, and so on.
Gold and Red Leader from unused footage from the Yavin IV battle. Also if you watched closely, all of Blue Squadron is lost, along with Red Five. A "new" Red Five comes along soon.
46:00 The reason his voice sounds different is because the movie only uses James Earl Jones' voice, and he is quite old by the time of filming... In the Kenobi show, they used Jones in conjunction with AI voice software to make his voice sound like Vader from the original trilogy... Jones has retired and has given permission for Lucasfilm to continue to use his voice via AI software so that Vader can continue on...
You know Vader was holding the hatch with the force so that it wouldn't open all the way in the final scene, right? While he was slicing his way through the rebels, The hatch wouldn't budge and open all the way, and only the rebel soldier's arm could fit right through juuuust enough to pass on the plans to the guy on the other side. I think its instances like that is what makes him truly terrifying.
Not sure if another comment got this or not, but Vader sounds different because in this movie is actually James Earl Jones recording the lines, and he's 40 years older now than he was for the originals. In the Kenobi series, they used basically ai to recreate his voice from that era (and that's how they plan to do it henceforth).
oooh! Day after Christmas present from Kim! Love Rogue One, it's in my top 3 Star Wars movies, and top 5 Star Wars projects. K2 is one of the best droid characters, loved how they recreated the feel of a 1970s sci fi movie, the various Easter Eggs (i.e., a certain war criminal droid grumbling in the background of the Rebel Base), the cinematography/sense of scale, the Battle of Scarif, Michael Giacchino's scenes, both of Vader's scenes and the gutsy decision to kill off the entire group of main characters (and yet their sacrifice made Luke, Leia's, etc. victory at Yavin and beyond worth it). Came to your channel for the Mass Effect vids Kim, but I'm sticking around for the Star Wars vids (hopefully there will be plenty more to the come in the future 😃)
This movie has arguably the best third act out of any Star Wars movie ever, which is a massive testament due to how incredibly tragic was the ending of Revenge of the Sith, and climactic third acts like Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. This movie really FEELS like a Star Wars movie, and much more gritty and down to earth than most of the other in the Skywalker saga. It feels almost like the heroes of this movie have absolutely no chance in defeating the empire, no Jedi, no lightsabers or magic force wielders, just a band of regular people ready to fight until the last breath, against what seems to be an unstoppable force. The final sequence with Darth Vader is a perfect metaphor for the entire movie, a bunch of nobodies with no powers facing their ultimate demise against an absolutely terrifying monster like Darth Vader
Wow, I really appreciate that you are smart enough to figure out the whole Cyber Crystal thing with the light sabers and the death star. Good for you, a lot of people didn't figure that out.
You have to watch Andor, you will not be disappointed. It's the one of the best tv shows in a long time, never mind the best Star Wars content since the OG trilogy. And season 2 is coming up in 2024.
Yes, Rogue One is the only good SW film that Disney has made. That said, is not just good, but it’s really good! Easily in my top three SW films across the saga
It is very hollywood, and the actuon scenes get very dull compared to the original trilogy... BUT I would still put Rogue One over the prequels (and obviously the sequels). It's to me by default the fourth best movie.
@@myfaceismyshield5963 Outside of Tarantino films, it’s been a long time since Hollywood had the balls to kill off an entire cast of main characters. Maybe I’m just a sucker for a good tragedy, but R1 is easily in my top 3 SW films alongside ROTJ, ROTS, and ESB. Also, gotta give the score some credit. It’s better than the Sequel music without even involving Williams, while still feeling distinctly Star Wars.
Can’t wait until you watch Andor now. Great series which shines a light on the darker side of the Rebellion against the Empire and the hard choices/sacrifices which were made for the cause. Side note: the moment where K-2SO slaps Andor in the face and tells him there would be another one if he mouths off again was unscripted and you can see Diego Luna covering his laugh
Just so you know for future star wars projects. James Earl Jones has retired from voicing Vader. However he has given permission for his voice to be replicated.
As a lifelong fan of Star Wars, I appreciated how they did a great job of weaving this story into the greater lore and also making a good stand alone movie. I found the first half a little clunky, but the last half is fantastic and tragic.
I never miss an opportunity to diss on Kathleen Kennedy, and boy does she give us plenty of them.....but her decision to bring in Gilroy to rewrite (some of, if not all??) of the script and go through all those reshoots was a very, very good one. So props to her. This is by far the best Disney SW movie and some of the best SW content of either era. Also, those last two scenes are about as fan servicey as you can possibly get but holy hell they are THE best fan service moments we have ever gotten and transition perfectly into ANH.
Reason Vader sounds different is because it was done by JEJ himself at the time of the film and he sounds older. In Kenobi it is done by an AI using his voice with his permission and sounds younger as they can splice it with OT Vader sounds to get the effect.
Fun fact: Diego Luna (who plays Cassian Andor) brought his father to the premier of the film. His dad had always avoided speaking English as much as possible, because he was ashamed of his accent. He'd never before seen a main character in a major movie who had a distinctly Mexican accent, and he actually cried when he saw his son portraying that in a big Star Wars movie.
17:26 - He's not the guy that Vader force choked. He's the guy that told Vader to stop. He's also the guy that told Leia if she told him the location of the rebel base, then he wouldn't destroy her planet, but he did it anyway.
The couldn't use Blue Squadron in A New Hope because of the blue screens so they used Gold and Red. They included Blue in this but wiped them out to explain why not present in A New Hope. Andor is by far the best Disney Wars has to offer. Mando S1+2 are pretty good, rest are pretty bad to awful.
17:08 Tarkin was played by Peter Cushin in The New Hope. His rank was that of a "Grand Moff", the best would be to compare it with a regional Gouvernor.
Great reaction! Yes, definitely watch ANDOR, it is fantastic! ❤Everything you love about Rogue One is multiplied like a million times in that series. Complex characters, big themes about the cause of the Rebellion, and what it takes to fight the empire, it's just chef's kiss.
Easily my fav SW film followed by Empire, this absolutely blew me away when I first watched it and I'm very glad that I caught this as my first of your vids as an introduction to your work :) Deffo checking out more of your channel! Not sure if anyone's mentioned this yet but I think it's in the making of this film that someone mentions that the Vader scene at the end was a last-minute addition to the film and wasn't actually planned from the off! Madness LOL
Rogue One was based off off of one line in A New Hope, "13 brave men died getting those plans". Those of us who remembered that, knew that none of Rogue One would survive--only prevail. Addendum, never mind how Vader was able to track Lei's ship to Tatooine, the ending of Rogue One changes the meaning of Leia's and Vader's first encounter to one of Vader almost being flabbergasted by Leia's brazen lying.
I honestly love that there’s no romance sub-ploy. When Jinn and Cassian are watching the well of death approach, and Cassian tells her that her father would be proud. They hug in the last moment, but it’s just two people, about to die and they know it, and they don’t want to die alone. That’s just simple human contact. They don’t kiss. And through the whole movie the only romantic interaction is Jinn’s parents. And even that is them being a team to raise their child. Dad doesn’t even react to seeing his wife murdered right in front of him.
Originally they weren’t going to add Vader in at the end there, but they added it in last minute, and it’s honestly the best part of the movie. As for his voice, thats James Earl Jones, the same guy it has always been, at least outside of most games and the obi-wan series.
Tarkin, the "CGI"guy actually agreed and worked closely with Vader in a New Hope. He was kind of his "commanding officer" and lead commander of the first Death Star. He never argued or disagreed heavily with Darth though.
The reason they CGI'd Tarkin's face is because the original actor Peter Cushing passed away in the early 90s (i believe, bit sketchy on the date). It created a whole conversation about whether it's ethical to resurrect dead actors. This was only exacerbated by Carrie Fisher's death as they used CGI to re-create younger Leia. Fun fact - Peter Cushing played a version of the Doctor in two theatrical movies in the 60s. They were not canon to the main tv show for ages but in the novelisation of day of the doctor, its stated that the films were made with the help of the doctor and UNIT had to investigate "when dead actors started re-appearing in new movies" which is directly referencing the 'resurrection' of Peter Cushing for Rogue One
My fear of heights also goes crazy during this movie, but especially near the end when Jyn is realigning the dish in order to transmit the Death Star plans, just like yours.

原来如此。我还以为我眼睛模糊了。。哈哈🤣🤣🤣
You have a good point. Gives that feel. Few of the newer gigs does that for me
Same universe? You mean same timeline…
Great movie it was, now You have to ways to keep it Star wars, two series, rebels o mandalorian hope to See You soon in to Star wars! Kind regards 🙏
Universe?
I remember this in theaters. Disbelieved gasps, sniffings in the audience when Jyn and Andor died... then when Darth Vader's breathing came, everything went quiet... Then came light saber. Cheering, clapping... it was instant mood change. And the collective gasp of last revial. Amazing experience.
Kim: "Are we gonna see more of Daddy Vader? I want Daddy Vader to go full rage."
Yours truly: *rubs hands*
Vader: *gives the audience the most badass and terrifying scene in the Star Wars saga*
Kim, you're amazing! Lol
Keep up the great work, girl!
Yasssss she's quite good. I enjoyed watching her become a fan of Star Wars. I was married for 9 years and my ex wife prided herself on never seeing a single Star Wars film. I could never get her to watch them. I enjoy watching reactions of people who are seeing it for the first time.
@@jeffj6815 That's why she's your ex-wife. You deserve better.
Somewhere nearby on a desolate planet... Luke is unaware of all this and doing his chores working on the moisture evaporators to bring in their meager water harvest.
A simple life for simple times, especially our lives when those movies came out lol.
Amazing reaction!
There is no need to apologise for pausing it to make your comments. I much prefer you pausing the movie than talking over it and missing important stuff. And we're here to watch your reaction. I doubt there are many people watching this video who haven't seen the movie.
True, on the other hand a minutes long rant about the enemy of my enemy that is debunk 10 seconds after the video is restarted is a bit silly.
@@stigkenobi7525 oh please explain to my 30 iq brain what does Andor contradict, you being of supreme intelligence
@@no_rubberneckingstill sound good to me lol. Even if he is older.

In some parallel universe we had Episodes 7, 8, and 9.executed with the same skill and attention to detail that Rogue One displayed.
Dark Empire and the Thrawn trilogy...
Interesting,I’ll have to research this more….,

@@stigkenobi7525 words can be useful tools for discussing concepts no matter who coins them.
@@RaikenXion havnt seen ashoka yet but dathomir was from clonewars wasnt it? (nightsisters)
PLEASE REACT to it for us if you can💖
I’ve been waiting a long time for her to watch it and now that’s she’s watched this, I think it’s gonna happen!
They way some of you go on about Gilroy “saving” the movie is so weird.
another vote here for andor!!
@@BaconAddict2 I think, from what I can tell from her Patreon, she will be watching Andor next
I love how you refered to "Daddy" Vader until the Hallway Scene, were he became Vader, just because of the terror he is.😂
This movie really put the War in Star Wars into focus.
K2's death hit me hard too. When he said "Goodbye", I almost broke down. 😭
K-2SO: "I am a leaf on the wind."
Gareth Edwards created a movie with the storytelling and emotional depth that the originals had and which the Disney trilogy was sorely lacking.
I love the absolute audacity of Lei lying to Vader saying she was on a diplomatic mission while actively being chased by Vader's ship from this battle. LOL
Yep he was like bitch I just saw you 15 mins ago 😂
That line was from return of the Jedi for the second Death Star
i have only seen your bg3 playthrough so far and its editing was way above what gaming videos tend to offer. but holy shit the production quality of this reaction is basically the best on youtube.
I just finished Andor yesterday so this reaction feels right on time ✨ Definitely my favorite of the new SW films.
After andor, "do you think anyone is listening?" hits so hard.

RUclips recommended your RUclips channel and I subscribed to it today.
What's wrong with seeing this first?
I must say, the music that plays during Vader's hallway massacre sounds pretty epic when slowed down.
Andor is actually very good 💫
To me, a New Hope will always be the ultimate Star Wars film, but Rogue One is easily the best _film_ of the whole saga.

You beat me to it! 😎
Andor is actually an extremely good show, far too underrated. The best disney star wars out there as far as I’m concerned.
Glad you enjoyed it! Probably my favorite Star Wars movie. And yes you have to watch Andor, another amazing Star Wars series.
Oh you would LOVE Andor, I hiiighly recommend watching/reacting to that!

Great reaction, the type that makes me appreciate the movie even more ✨
This movie has arguably the best third act out of any Star Wars movie ever, which is a massive testament due to how incredibly tragic was the ending of Revenge of the Sith, and climactic third acts like Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
Awesome reaction! Definitely watch Andor next its even better :)
"I want daddy Vader to go full on rage mode"

This movie put the WAR back into STAR WARS. It's an awesome movie that I can watch over and over.
@@myfaceismyshield5963
Outside of Tarantino films, it’s been a long time since Hollywood had the balls to kill off an entire cast of main characters.
There’s a book that takes place before ‘Rogue One’, called ‘Catalyst’, and it provides quite a bit of backstory for Galen and Krennic.
I hope you eventually watch Rebels and Ahsoka to see Mads' brother and fellow Dane, Lars Mikkelsen at work, hes also a phenomenal actor.
does anyone else get "Indigo Montoya" Vibes from Diego Lunas portrayal of Cassian Jeron Andor?
Reason Vader sounds different is because it was done by JEJ himself at the time of the film and he sounds older. In Kenobi it is done by an AI using his voice with his permission and sounds younger as they can splice it with OT Vader sounds to get the effect.
Andor takes what you like about this movie and only raises it to a whole other level. It’s incredible and it will *move* you
Fun fact: Diego Luna (who plays Cassian Andor) brought his father to the premier of the film. His dad had always avoided speaking English as much as possible, because he was ashamed of his accent. He'd never before seen a main character in a major movie who had a distinctly Mexican accent, and he actually cried when he saw his son portraying that in a big Star Wars movie.
I am so deeply, madly in love with this film. It is the pinnacle of the Disney era and is right up there with the OT overall.
17:26 - He's not the guy that Vader force choked. He's the guy that told Vader to stop. He's also the guy that told Leia if she told him the location of the rebel base, then he wouldn't destroy her planet, but he did it anyway.
As you finished reacting to ‘Rogue One’, I felt a tear go down my cheek. It still punches me in the gut!
This movie was spectacular in theaters. Its my fav disney star wars project
I knew the second she said “Daddy Vader” that she would really enjoy a few scenes of this movie. 😂
The opening section is filmed in Iceland. The desert location is Jordan. The tropical island is the Maldives in the Indian Ocean.
You mention at start that you a Dane.
I have visited Denmark three times, between 1990-2019. Fine people, good society.
17:08 Tarkin was played by Peter Cushin in The New Hope. His rank was that of a "Grand Moff", the best would be to compare it with a regional Gouvernor.
I love your commentaries when you pause, great reactions.
I love the final realization that its RIGHT before Episode IV.
Madness LOL
Vader turned into Jason Vorheese 😬😭😭
"Many Bothans died to bring us this information". Rough One, may the force be with you! Rest In Peace Stardust.
Originally they weren’t going to add Vader in at the end there, but they added it in last minute, and it’s honestly the best part of the movie. As for his voice, thats James Earl Jones, the same guy it has always been, at least outside of most games and the obi-wan series.
Andor is amazing. Starts a little slow but gets soooo good. Please react to it on the channel next!!!
