I met Darrell at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa in 1978 at a tent sale across the street and chatted with him for a few minutes. He struck me as a very sincere and kind Gentleman, and I bought his album with 'That's Alright' on LP and still have it in great shape! His LP version of 'He Has Overcome' still sends chills down my spine and puts a big smile on my face, but the lyrics to 'Giver Of Life' brought me to my knees in thanksgiving and tears. Thank you Darrell, for your gift of your music.
One of my favorites! Played this song for my 'Music Appreciation' class in high school in 1978 in Carlsbad, California. They loved it, better than the other songs presented in class that day. Also saw Gentle Faith and Darrell Mansfield live around that time at Calvary Costa Mesa.
Remember this song so well, back in my Calvary Chapel days, we used to go to mike Macintosh’s church back then ,as well as Calvary Costa Mesa, and don absher’s church too, my dad was in the group “ Glory” John Elliott... they played all over San Diego at many Churches in the 70’s ...
I got saved in Simi Valley and was taken to Calvary Chapel 3 days later. I was in awe to be with all these brothers and sisters as we worshipped God. The guest speakers that night were Ernie & Debbie Retino. They shared about how they had wanted a baby for years and God granted it. They held up the baby. Does anyone remember that night?
Barry McGuire taped at TBN studio in Santa Ana, just prior to PTL with Paul and Jan Crouch, was there, powerful, Barry was at a loss for words after that song.
Lead vocal and I believe he wrote this one, was Darrel Mansfield, I opened for him at Faith Chapel San Diego back in the day. We shared a meal and he was talking about being hypoglcemic. The night we played he had a guitarist with him, newely saved Jewish guy named Stash Wagoner, not sure what became of him but he had played for ALL of the big guys, he actually wrote the song "Don't Bogart That Joint, My Friend" from the movie "Easy Rider"
Yes, this is Darrell Mansfield singing; and he also wrote the song. The day he wrote the initial draft, he brought it to me to show it. He was honestly emotional as he wrote this, and I think the message meant a great deal to him from the beginning. He was one of the kindest people I have ever met.
Incredible share! This is one of the great songs and I had no idea that it was captured live in video form until now. Thanks for this, more than you may know, Rolland B. Heiss
Missing Don Gerber already whom has gone home to be with Jesus this past month. Love listening to this. Brings back memories of running around the house as a toddler in my Gentle Faith oversized t-shirt.
AD 30 - 2024 AD "And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side" Luke 19
kshavo... Thanks for posting this video. It's really good. It sounded like Darrell Mansfield singing. But I'm not sure if it was him on stage or not. It has to be him.
Hey that's some rocking stuff! Is that Darrell Mansfield too? I saw his band play once in a church in Montrose, CA. His harmonica playing blew my mind.
It seems like I saw them at brothers music hall in mountain brook outside of Birmgham Alabama ,I use to have a 8 track tape of them aren't they from sweden and one was a post man maybe
Wow! Was this from some sort of early televised church format? What was the program or station? I've always loved the edifying music and entertainment from that period. "Gentle Faith", especially. Great share!
I remember this beautiful and haunting song! I was 13 years old when they videotaped this in 1976, in Orange County, California (no I wasn’t there when they recorded it!) The guitar playing was amazing. Was this recorded at CC Costa Mesa’s church, or at the TBN studio (both were in Orange county)?
This song probably went over better in intimate coffeehouse environments, compared with Darrell Mansfield's hardcore blues rock tunes from later periods of his life. It's still a very nice folk song, however.
Yes he did many albums after being in Gentle Faith, He formed the Darrell Mansfield band and did many great albums. I think I have been to about 50 Darrell Mansfield concerts, He used to play Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa every month when they had the free Saturday night concerts. Recently he does Blues music as opposed to doing Blues Rock that he used to do

If CCM still had the dynamic diversity it had in the 70s and 80s I'd still be listening to it.
I would add the 90’s as well. That’s when I started getting into it and backtracked from there.
Agreed ! 👍
Steve Kara is such a great guitar player always loved his solo on this one!
Please keep Darrell in your prayers he has dementia.

By the way, that baby was later involved with their parent's established >> "Psalty the singing songbook family". My kids loved it.

Barry is still up in fresno & playing some. So is Terry Talbot. So much Jesus music history. 🎶

sounds like D.Mansfield now that you mention it .. He is young in this video for me to tell but does favor what he looked like.
The Internet Movie Database says Stash Wagner is retired and living in the Philippines.

Wow. That's some background!
Just heard this a few days ago for the first time. I love it, have it on repeat in my mind.
This is such a great song!
WORSHIP WITH GUITAR RIFFS OH YEAH! LOVE THE VOICE SO LOVELY! THE WORDS SIMPLE BUT SO MEANINGFUL. ITS LIKE THE LORD IS SINGING
That guitar solo still gives me chills
Classic rock song by Gentle Faith and Mansfield! Love Darrells' vocal and the great guitar-work by the band!
Loved the old Darrell Mansfield Band, excellent musicians, good voice!
Saw them do this song in concert at my high school way back when. Great to see this live performance.
This is a year almost to the day after I first heard them at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Great song and memories!
Jesus the wind of your presence is life and breath Jah Immanuel Lord God Almighty El
Your ways of beauty
One of my favorite songs. I didn't know it went back that far.
Cara, essa música é maravilhosa, incrível. Sem contar aquele solo de outro mundo.

Had the album and this song when it first came out, but I've never seen this video. Love it!
So beautiful! I remember from so long ago.
Wow, the hair! Saw them at Calvary Chapel of Downey many years ago. Donny Gerber still has all that hair.
The intro has that In the Beginning vibe.
Robert - i kinda noticed that, too....but i also thought of "Prelude 12/Suite Madame Blue by Styx.
@@CrimsonThorns Greg Lake of ELP "From the Beginning"

You can hear a touch of that blues style in the electric lead guitar part.
Mark Pettigrew Hey Darryl Mansfield is Fire and he was my first experience with Christian music!
Mark did you attend ET in Houston Tx.??
Is that Phil Keaggy on the electric guitar?
is he still doing music Darrell Mansfield
