It's a shame that Green Lantern: The Animated Series never had a season 2 and season 3, I mean this show was a masterpiece, why they don't understand true action and art anymore?
They actually had plans to adapt Blackest Night in the second half of season 2. They got away with a lot of the deaths in season 1 because they told the higher ups they were going to bring them back anyway as Black Lanterns. So, the BLs would've been composed of everyone who died so far in the show. They even foreshadow this with both Scar being in the show and the Black Lantern book in her shelf.
@@vasko.t_ Ilana, M'Ten, Dulok, Shyir Rev, Grood, Neuroxis, Ghia'ta, the Anti-Monitor, and probably more I'm forgetting. Plus they could always kill more in the Sinestro arc, and I could see them adding backstory characters like Abin Sur and Kilowog's family.
This series MADE me into a Green Lantern fan. I never really cared for the character until I decided to give this show a shot and to this day it’s still one of my favorite shows.
I watched it in full for the first time a few months ago after Razer appeared in YJ and was hooked! I’m so bummed that it was cancelled. Thanks for this video man
Bit of a bonus addon to Young Justice throwing Razer back into the mix, there's also an Aya easter egg in Justice League Action. In one episode, the hero(?) Space Cabbie is helping Hal Jordan against Lobo, making use of an onboard navigation system to assist, which is heavily implied at the end of the episode to be Aya when she notes that she's actually a disembodied AI and flies off in search of 'someone'. Really hope DC can flesh out this ship at some point, those two have been apart long enough.
Idk if you've been keeping up with the animated movies, but Crisis on Infinite Earths pt. 3 has Aya at the end of its trailer and one of the listed VA's for a character is "Blue Lantern Razer"
I know the red lanterns are different in the comics, but I didn't mind the Red Lantern Corps in this show better. They aren't zombie-like beings that can'take constructs. There is no reason EVER to put that ring on. But in this show they seemed to run with basically green lanterns but less control more power.
A few months ago, Bruce Timm's pitch art for season 2 was revealed. It featured Hal with a new costume, Arisia, Hawkman, and a yellow ring-wielding Sinestro looming over the three.
Giancarlo who also helped make the series (Timm was less of a creator and more of a mentor for the show) said he would have liked to make the show more adult due to the fanbase having grown up.
@@corypowercat7277I mean sinestro war and blackest night are pretty graphic from what I hear so yeah slap a tv 14 rating on there and make the best comic event in DC real
I hope it comes back one day. I know Giancarlo Volpe stated a few years ago that he would be interested in making it more adult themed like Invincible.
I recently introduced this show to my kids 4 and 6 and they love it. I think Young Justice might be harder for them to follow at a young age. GLAS is truly a perfect show to introduce kids to DC without being too dark.
And with Green Lanterns expanding their human roster, I would love to see Kyle Rayner, Simon Baz, Jessica Cruz, Jo Mullen, and even possibly Teen Lantern in the series. I always thought that Green Lantern has so much lore and stories that are just as good or if not better than the lore and stories that is based around Batman, but DC and WB are always so inconsistent and rely on Batman so much that it wastes those characters potential in popularity.
I would’ve loved to see all the human lanterns characters appear on the show! Especially Kyle Rayner personally, but they all bring something unique to the GL mythos and they all deserve to get adapted outside the comics
Did you know that Aya appeared in one episode of Justice League Action? Oh yeah, she's alive and searching the Multiverse for Razer. Despite what the directors said about his appearance in Young Justice, i still headcanon that it is the same person. I also like to think that Killowog's comment about the potential of Razer also wielding a green lantern ring, ontop of red and blue would make him powerful enough to open portals to other dimensions and continue his search.
Aya did show up on an episode Justice League Action though I forgot to mention it, it's also a very underrated show imo. And a green/blue/red hybrid lantern is a cool idea!
Just watched the show. Ive always loved Green Lantern, have watched all the movies and stuff, but I never watched the series for some reason. Safe to say though, I finally got to it and it's my favorite DC show ever. I never watched Young Justice either, but I did watch the episode with Razer in it and I was freaking out. Makes me so sad that there is no season 2. Really really loved this show, and Razer is probably my new favorite DC character. Also, the blackest night is also references at Episode 24, Scarred at around 3 minutes in, when they go into the science directors room, you can see the whole book for it. I also would love to see some connections to other characters, when I saw the Thannagarians I was so hyped, it reminded me that there is a big universe out there, and that Batman, Superman, and the whole league can very well exist. I'm very worried that this show will never be renewed though, James gunn is making his new universe and he wants it to all be connected through movies, shows, ANIMATION, and video games. Which means likely that we will not see a Green Lantern Animated Series Season 2, I am excited for Gunns universe though, I am just upset to think that we may never see Razer and Aya ever again...
I love green lantern the animated series it was really awesome and badass and such a amazing series in my opinion that did the comics justice in my book.
This show is one of my favorite shows I ever watched. Growing up I was especially fond of the opening theme song. That's what really got me going with the show but it was still such a good story. It kept you on your toes. You never knew what was going to happen. I really enjoyed it. I wish they would do this and make more seasons. There are a lot of TV shows that I watched growing up that I feel needed more seasons that they decided not to go with
I wish this would come back too. It was one of my favorites along with Tron: Uprising. But alas, as adults we're weren't the intended audience of these shows. Kids were as they wanted toy sales and we (mostly...and you know who you are, lol) didn't buy toys. We liked the animation style and the storytelling aspect. Disney created a hell of a show with mature themes, rich storytelling and assembled an incredible cast (RIP Paul Reubens) for Tron: Uprising. Cartoon Network did exactly the same with Green Lantern too. But until they realize that animation isn't just for kids (i.e. Archer, Family Guy, South Park, the Simpsons, etc.), then we are doomed to have 1 season or less shows like this. It sucks, but I guess it's the current reality. Which is a shame, because you can pull from a larger voice actor pool too as age isn't necessarily a factor in animation! For hope burns bright! #saveTronUprising #saveGreenLantern
I just recently finished the series, razer's episode in Young Justice, which striked my interest. And I was totally hooked. I had watched GL movies that are available on Hbo Max, but this was on a different level. I can't believe they shelved this brilliant show
That's awesome! it’s never too late to get introduced to an overlooked amazing show like this, so glad to know that you had a great time with the series
Completely agree, it's crazy that both GLTAS and Spectacular Spider Man are some of the best superhero shows ever made and both of them lasted so little, they had so much unfulfilled potential it's insane
A shame both of those great shows got axed early. If it's any consolation to you though at least you'd have two nickels for every time a show with such ambition to tell much more dynamic storylines with love and care to the source material that unfortunately got canceled after 1 season/26 episodes, and starring Josh Keaton in the leading role. Weird and sad when you sit down and think about the fact it happened twice.
Another thing I would have liked to have seen in Green Lantern the Animated Series season 2 would have been some of Hal Jordan's enemies from Earth like Hector Hammond. Major Disaster. Tattooed Man. And Dr Polaris.
Couldn't agree more! I love that they focused on the outer space side of the GL mythos, but by doing so they glossed over all the great Earth-based villains that the GLs have, it would've been awesome to have even more variety in villains

THIS SERIES WAS EPIC. THE WRITING WAS EXCELLENT! WISH MORE PEOPLE WATCHED IT BUT I THINK IT LOOKED TO CARTOONY TO BRING IN THE MATURE AUDIENCE THAT IT COULD APPEAL TO.
I like his appearance in young Justice as a bigger fan of GLTAS but I think it would also kinda ruin GLTAS for potential new fans or confuse them on what’s going on.
Watch Justice League Action “Barehanded” GL( Hal ) )voiced by same actor as GL animated series loses his ring. gets in space taxi to track down ring. The cabbie just downloaded a new GPS(voiced by Aya voice actress). At the end GPS says she’s a disembodied AI who is on a quest to find something or someone. She turns into a green ball (resembling Aya original orb form) and starts her quest. This is after she said that GL seemed familiar to her. So Aya is out in DCEU looking for Razer.
I think there was a small hint to blackest night in the show if i rememer. one of the guardians had a book with the symbol and later got injured and the line "mearly scarred" was how they refered to it and I remeber there was a scarred guardian on the black lanturn's side
I think the animation style held this cartoon back. I never watched it until recently because it looked like it was targeted at little kids. Hal almost looks like Buzz Lightyear in a different suit.
