  • Hey everyone, I'm VERY behind with this video, nearly by a month and change, but I was able to allocate the time to go through all my trip media and together this video which documents my experience of bicycle touring the spectacular Blue Ridge Parkway from Boone to Asheville, North Carolina.
    For those of you who don't know, the BRP is historically dubbed as "America's most scenic drive", "America's favorite drive" etc. It traverses the peaks and valleys of the Appalachian mountains through the US states of Virginia and North Carolina.
    It is a misconception that one shouldn't or can't ride a bike through this beautiful piece of American infrastructure. You most certainly can, so watch my video to get an idea of what it's like and listen to some tips that I give throughout the video.
    This is all part of an extended bicycle tour from New York City to New Orleans, LA. I have captured the entire experience on RUclips, so check out my channel for the rest!
    And please, as always, feel free to make suggestions to I can continue to improve the quality of my content. Comment, like, and subscribe!!!

    just stumbled over your channel and glad I did ,great video's. Being a bike packer myself and new to it, I was wondering what kind of goggles those are, and if they are working well for you. I am having a hard time finding a good pair that goes over my glasses....thanks and safe peddling!!!!

      Hello! Thanks for chiming in. I'm glad you like my videos.. still a novice at producing, filming, and editing but it's been a fun learning process and makes the touring much more interesting and productive.
      The sunglasses I use are:
      www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ABD1DG0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
      So they aren't goggles, they are actually sunglasses with detachable lenses. I put in the clear lens because it still protects my eyes from dust etc and UV, but I like the clear vision because I like to see everything in regular color. I don't know if you could fit them over regular glasses.

      hey thanks, I'm going to try them out anyway I like the detachable lens idea, looking forward to seeing more of your trips and how your editing progresses. Right now your right upe there so its only going to get better...ride safe
      and thanks again

    The yellow looks so cheap.

    • @12carza
      @12carza  6 лет назад

      I guess. But it makes me so noticeable on the road which is what is important for me. Okay?

      Don't get pissy Christian. I wasn't trying to insult ya. I had a yellow slicker as a kid and hated it. You want to ride around looking like an ambulance that's on you dude. I prefer to be able to blend in when I want. - imgur.com/a/HpCo6wW

      How much weight do you carry per pannier?

    • @rb1179
      @rb1179 6 лет назад

      According to the experts, yellow is the most visible on the road, so I say go for it Christian. Personally, I don't want to blend in with my surroundings. Getting hit by one truck in broad daylight is enough for me.

      I completely agree with being seen... when you want. I too was punted to the pavement by a Dodge Durango at noon on a dry hot sunny day in the PNW. That kept me off my bike for close to a month, I'm old and don't bounce back well anymore. Bounce? I wish! I hit the pavement like a ripe avocado. I was still laying on the ground trying to think of something witty or cool to say when the woman ran back to her car and drove away in front of God everybody. I guess my being alive was good enough for her. Colors can help draw attention, like lights and reflective surfaces or a big tall flag on a fiberglass pole, orange usually, not yellow. Maybe someone should tell them about your "experts" theory like ambulance companies obviously have. Their kinda yellow, if electric screaming yellow is a color. It's not just about being seen though. Lots of drivers don't seem to care much about bikers safety. A friend of mine zip-tied a pool-noodle to his bike hanging out close to 3 feet on the left. He swears that it helps keep cars at the legal distance. I say record it all and if anyone touches the noodle they get fined and the rider splits it with whoever issues the ticket, city, county, or state. I just picture riding past a long line of people and hearing the steady wack, wack, wack of the noodle. I wasn't discounting the "power" of yellow... I just associate it with something that I learned to dislike as a kid. I certainly wouldn't kick a babe out of bed for wear yellow panties. And my blue and gold macaw has yellow all over her and she's beautiful. I went a different direction with my bike. I find that being able to blend into the environment can be surprisingly helpful. - imgur.com/a/uOZpUZJ
