    Loved watching your video. It brings back lots of good memories . I have been to Davis Bayou three times. Once with my sister, once with my daughter and the first time was by myself. I have always wanted to bicycle tour that same rout you took. I was so glad that a couple of fellow Missourians bought your meal. I live in southwest Missouri and I forget what a flatt road looks like at times. Stay safe and keep up the good videos.

    Subscribed. These videos are very zen. Whens the next tour and where will it be? Also, have you checked out Iohan Gueorguiev's "See The World" series? really amazing stuff.

      Ahh Thanks dude that's a pretty big contribution of praise for me. I appreciate your comment. I haven't touched my video editing programs since my last tour (this one) ended. I was actually preparing to do a tour of the western portion of North America from Calgary, AB to the P. Ocean then down into Mexico, but other things have come up for this Fall/Winter so I will be postponing it. I will do it though, eventually, and thus the whole idea of cycle touring and how awesome it is will definitely be with me in this life. I had such a beautiful and "zen" experience that I wanted to portray to other people and get them to see not only what this is all about, but to maybe conceive in their minds that they can do it too. I'm definitely a big time cyclist back home where I live though (New York) and I have abundant ideas of videos both cycling related and not, that I hope to be putting out once I stop working so much. Please stay tuned! And I have not heard of the mentioned series you wrote about but will be sure to scope it out. I enjoy seeing other peoples' experiences and portrayal of this adventure.
      Thank you again and happy riding !!
      Christian

    You're very good at videoing your footage and making that look easy your videos you make it look like taking video footage is really simple you actually give the illusion that somebody is following you around doing your video ography and that's because you're so good at what you do and you make driving by bicycle appear that there's no hiccups LOL and you make it like everybody's doing it and everybody should do it and that I agree with everybody should be doing this and I plan on it I have another message for you but I'm going to send it separately than this so you will reply to that separately I hope

      Haha thank you. I rode with a tripod and set it up at the side of the road when I found a nice scene I wanted to capture. It was redundant at times but very enjoyable to see it all come together in videos. This was my first video project and it's been almost 2 years. More videography to come :)

      There is the link of the sunglasses I use for cycle touring. They are not prescription, just regular polarized lenses that are interchangeable. I mostly used the clear lens just for eye protection and so I could see the natural color of everything. I recommend!

    I'm from navarre! Cops patrol That area between navarre and pensacola on their little four wheelers looking for people in the dunes It's a good thing they didn't ride thru that night lol! I've camped out there near access 7, good wind protection from all sides if you're in the right spot

    • @12carza
      @12carza  6 лет назад

      That was such a beautiful area!! Guess I got lucky with the camping and not being bothered. Would it have made a difference if it was mid November? I remember that night being super blustery and not being able to sleep well because of the strong winds.

    Wonderful video series of your trip. I was so interested that I watched them all in one day! How do you choose your bicycle-friendly roads for your route?

    • @12carza
      @12carza  7 лет назад

      Wow, thanks so much for being a viewer!! Google street view was a very big help (mainly to see what the shoulder space was like), along with general input from people i met along the way. You can use Google bicycle directions as well, but some of the roads they sent me down were very questionable, as in they were almost too desolate and removed.

    awesome and good for you! :) I'm curious to cycle around these states to is Alamba OK? more or less do people respect you riding in the states (on the road) My experience in the West is OK for riding even on interstate.. Miss the open roads in USA.. ^^ (oh and Subscribed!)

    • @12carza
      @12carza  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for subscribing, I will definitely be uploading more videos as soon as I go on another bike tour. Alabama was a very interesting state to ride in. The Chief Ladiga Trail extends from the GA/AL border all the way to Anniston, it's a beautiful rail trail (no cars only bikes and people), and I remember good experiences on the roads. Nothing too crazy, actually lots of rural wide open spaces. Talladega State Forest has some good road riding. I posted a video called "Southern Piedmont" and if you want to see more of Alabama you can watch from 10:20 to 16:00 ruclips.net/video/V1Pn1kpwBVs/видео.html

  • @padude131

    Awesome video! Beautiful scenery. How do you plan your routes as far as roads being bike friendly?

    • @12carza
      @12carza  7 лет назад

      WarmShowers hosts and locals were a great help for giving me good directions. Google Maps cycling directions was mostly helpful with keeping me on reasonable roads, although they were really generous with certain "roads" that were very desolate gravel paths. I would always check the street view to see how the shoulder width looked.
      This stretch of my ride was actually the least bicycle friendly especially Highway 90 in MS and Destin, FL.

      Great video! Last fall I rode from Boston to Key West to San Diego. Totally respect the courage it takes to camp alone. Rt. 17 is tough in the Carolinas! The pace is such a routine that when I finished I wasn’t sure how I felt about arriving at my destination. April 1,2018 I leave Boston again and will head west. Good luck to you and your life.

    Nice to be in an area where it's kind of ...flat. Here in Oregon there are so, so many hills. Great scenery though. Long distances between attractions get's to me. Wish I lived in the East...

    • @12carza
      @12carza  7 лет назад +1

      Honestly the mountains and hills are SO much more scenic and entertaining to ride through. It makes things interesting- plus the physical challenge makes the experience that much more invigorating. But to each their own I guess.. Flat is easy but it gets kinda boring

    • @ericboddeker7840
      @ericboddeker7840 7 лет назад

    DOES THE SAND PLAY HAVIC WITH YOUR CHAIN, ETC ?

    • @12carza
      @12carza  7 лет назад

      Normally I hate taking my bike anywhere near sand because yes it can if you're not careful.. I found the sand getting on my rims to be more of a pain since the weight of the bike would pull the wheel down into the sand. The sand grains getting caught on my brake pads irked me.... but when you're bicycle touring the elements are unavoidable. I would be sure to clean my chain thoroughly once per week while touring.

      I started from Queens, New York then went up towards Canada/US and then back down towards the Gulf of Mexico via the Appalachians. I planned my roads in 7 day increments, more or less I knew the route I wanted to take, just had to research specifics as far as agreeable roads.

  • @thatguyonabicycleofconsurv3908
    @thatguyonabicycleofconsurv3908 6 лет назад

    The other thing I like that you talked about occasionally be really cool if you did a video on it how you've never had a license and that never owned the car and that you ride your bicycle everywhere are you from the New York City area is that why you never really needed a license or anything like that and have you ever been to Maine have you got future plans to come to Maine on a tour just curious get a ride through Vermont if you ever come to Maine then a roundabout way but definitely want to hit Burlington and Rutland all up through there and the Killington area anyway look forward to your reply

    • @12carza
      @12carza  6 лет назад

      Hey! Thanks for keeping up with my trip and for viewing my videos. I am just itching to get back out there and start another bicycle trip/ documentary series. Been working a lot these past 2 years so I haven't been able to leave for an extended amount of time but I hope to start traveling again soon. Still don't have my license... Yes I am from New York City (born and raised in Queens) and have never seen the necessity of having a car here when riding a bike is faster and generally more enjoyable. Cycling culture is growing here but it's a fact that we live in a motorist dominated culture which makes things difficult as a cyclist sometimes... I'll still take my bike anywhere over a motor vehicle. I would absolutely love to take a New England trip and skirt through coastal Maine and into the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont. Thanks for your input.

    Sure thing do your planning because this so many back roads I mean when I call back roads the not really but secondary roads is what they are and yeah maybe when you get time and you got your major root mapped out touch base with me and I'll give you some places to go off your primary root I'm up in a town called Old Town if you've ever heard of Old Town Canoes well that's where they make them is where I live if you've ever heard of the University of Maine at Orono where I'm like 10 minutes from Orono I'm not 10 minutes from their college but just the town from Old Town there is a bike path that leads to the university in Bangor in the summertime has concerts on the waterfront you might want to look that up online is Bangor Maine so there's a lot to do and see here although I'm not the type to get out and do that now if I lived in another state or whatever I would definitely be traveling around more than I do but I was born and raised here in Maine I was raised in the southern part of the state and the people up here in the northern part of State much more friendly much more friendly alright I'll let you get going thanks for touching base with me preciate it as I see some of your other videos if you have any I'll make comments on them get back to me when you can no big hurry I will talk to you later
