- One of the biggest disappointments on the Roland TD 17 for me was the sound of the stock aluminum snare drum. I was so happy I was able to figure out this cool hack because I really enjoy playing my Acrolite and being able to get something similar on the TD 17 is wicked fun. Take the TD 17 aluminum snare from Wackrolite to Hackrolite with this fun hack!
Check out my bonus hack for this sound, an ear-splitting rim shot that is super fun to play • Roland TD 17 "Acrolite...
i searched all the videos out there for a better snare sound of my TD 17, although i have a drumtec live sound edition with samples, this is the best snare sound i got of it so far, can easily keep up with some snare sounds of EZ drummer 2 and the feeling when playing is way better with the module alone than with some additional software, thanks a lot
I LOVE the way the drum tec snares sound when Ralph demos them. Are they not as good in person? And what about the actual drum sets? I really like the Yamaha recording custom Tama Tama and slingerland... How are they in person when you played them?
Thanks! If you haven't already, check out my hack for the rim shot enhancement for this snare sound ruclips.net/video/n6NIvLlNPqQ/видео.html
@@rolandtd17hacks75 I have! I watched all your videos last night and I was disappointed there weren't more!
@@williamperri3437 they are good but not the real thing, i bought the TD 17 drum set 2 years ago and i was struggling between this one and the TD 25 or ATV. The triggering of the TD 17 is excellent but i don´t need any of the drum sets, in total 50 at all. Even the small ATV module for € 280 has more natural snare sounds, and the sound of TD 25 is better and you get positional sensing. But for € 800 you get the 2 box drumit module which is in my opinion superior. If i had the same amount of money to buy a new set, i would probably buy a 2box module VH 10 hi hat, ATV bundel of pads, either roland or atv cymbals. I wouldn´t buy the TD 17 again, but i didn´t know better as a newbie, cheers.
@@abudakuba4527 TD 25 BETTER!!!??? I mean, I know it's a matter of opinion but I thought the 25 was one of their worst modules ever as far as sound I thought it was to glassy but I guess that's where the EQ comes in. The 25 is based on the 30 and the 17 we know is based on the 50 sounds and a lot of people do think the td30 is their best module ever so I see your point. I always loved the 2box since I first learned about it in 2017 and almost bought one from questlove's brother-in-law at Questlove Studio! Yammy being a big fan of the roots and anything involving Questlove I show up at the studio and just see a bunch of photos of him and people that he produced! 😂 I definitely loved the playability and triggering of the toolbox and clearly loved the sounds but I wasn't sold on it being as reliable as Roland because it was still new. Now, what about the F Note? That kit sounds amazing but again my biggest concern is reliability and I've never walked into a music store and if seen an ATV or F note. The first generation ATV when they first came out they were probably my favorite sounds ever but they changed a bit over time. Anyway, thanks for replying!
Great video could you do a tutorial on getting a phat snare sound?
I like this. I think next time in the studio I'm going to sample some of my real snares, including a acrolite to use as a sub instrument in my td50x.
This is badass! Love the EQ as well! Would be super interested in how you EQ toms and hi-hat! Hi-hat sounds on this module giving me fits. Thank you for the secrets!
Thanks. Hi-hats might be the next item I tackle I think, seems no one likes the td 17 hh sounds.
Yes! Love the ride cymbal you did! It’s the best one I have heard and I’ve purchased a few extensions. You are the only one who using buttering things up with a bunch of ambiance and multi effects. And teaching us how to do it on the module. This should be the focus. Thank you!
Love the video and sound, I would love to see videos on the kick drum as well 🙏
Sounds great!
So good man!!!
The beauty in edrums is that you can find any tuning or song that you want or can think of. You just have to know how and spend the time it takes to find it.
Yes and, in most cases, if you look hard enough you don't have to spend a dime to do it.
What happens when you use a tom as sub? Will you get that boxy 80s sound?

That’s nice
You mentioned you would post your rimshot settings to compliment this. Any progress towards that? Looking forward to completing this sound.
Almost done, should be going up this week.

Thanks, I've been struggling to get the snare sounding any good at all. Now I have a better understanding of what I need to change. Why do the stock drums on the TD17 sound so bad??
Good question. My guess is its like legos, the blocks aren't much fun by themselves, but if you put them together with other legos, you get something you can play with. Just wish Roland would put out a recipe book so we don't have to struggle so much.
Very good. In the old days i had a supraphonic. This is the best reproduction i ever heard. Thanx.
Wow, thank you!
At around 2:40 When you mention that you like to think of changing the sub as changing the depth of the shell when you start going up and down it's one of the only times I've ever heard a pitch change or tuning on any module that did not sound totally synthetic. And your playback sounded really good!
Thank you.
I use a matching snare on my live kit and have been wanting to find a way to mimic it on my module.
Excellent, I’ve always been a fan of the classic st anger snare everyone hates but I love it. Same with old slamming death metal.
Sounds pretty nice indeed
any changes in the new module 2.0 update?
Thanks again for this sir... 💯💥💯
Thank you!
How do you copy pad settings from one kit to another?
I don't think that's possible, I don't know of a way. If you find it let me know.
