- In this video, Second Leutient Hoffman and I discuss BMOQ-Army in great detail. BMOQ-Army is taken after completion of BMOQ Module 1 and BMOQ Module 2. We speak about the course overview, memories and the long-lasting impact. 2Lt Hoffman has been a Logistics Officer for over 2 years with the Lorne Scots Regiment. Please note this is simply lived experience and not a reflection of the CAF as a whole.

Thank goodness for this video! The CAF is notorious for not communicating anything but this video was so helpful.
This has to be your best podcast! I waiting to be scheduled for my BMOQ. the swamp bit got to me.
Welcome back!!!
Thank you!:)
I'll probably be on BMOQ-A this summer. Thanks for making this!
Thats awesome!! Best of luck and thank you for the kind words :)
How did it go?
Thanks for sharing!! This is so interesting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
i will be joining soon!!!!
Hi. Could you tell that does the trainer office really strict? The reason I ask that I am 36 yeas old, I lack of work out for a long time , I assume I cannot finish the requirement. Thanks again for the video
Thanks about addressing ages - I'm scheduled for BMOQ in St. Jean in August and I am a bit apprehensive about standing out like a sore thumb at 40.
Hi Miss JoaniB! Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad that part of our discussion resonated with you :) I’m sure you won’t be the only older candidate! Regardless, I bet your age will be an asset in many ways. It’s not all about brute strength!
@@KyraNankivell I made it through! I finished last week and my platoon was amazing.
@@MissJoaniBhi. Thank you so much for sharing. I am 36 , I lack of work out for a long time, is it possible I can pass the BMQ? Does trainer office really strict ?
So logistics officers go through BMQ and BMOQ?
@@anishakapoor4689BMQ is only for NCM officer get bmoq
This training sounds AWESOME! Do you actually get to do this kind of thing day-to-day? Or is it just on trainings?
Hey Lauren :) Skills / situations from training courses definitely come up in unit exercises! I would say that being on course is a different level of immersiveness and intensity though! Also note that “day-to-day” for a reservist is typically once a week & one weekend a month.
@@KyraNankivellhow much can a reservist work? Could I work the whole summer out of high school, and then go to college
@@KyraNankivellwhat is your take about a mom with three kids joining the military? How does this affect the family time and the kids?
I recently went to reserve job fairs and seems everyone(NCM) is talking about how suck to enroll as officer, they mentioned voluntary overtime, endless paper work... overall i heard a very stressful and underappreciated role. Can you please share some of your insights on this topic?
Do you think theres an advantage in being an ncm and learning the core of the trade before becoming an officer?
I’ve heard people say this. I think you’ll gain respect if you do this but it’s not easy to switch from NCM to officer and the processing time can be long even if they approve your transfer
The BMOQ its the basic training ?
BMOQ : Basic Military Officer Qualification. it's the basic training for officers
Hey Zarah, exactly what Sharan said! BMOQ is basic military officer qualification (for officer candidates) and BMQ is basic military qualification (for non-commissioned members). Thanks Sharan!
This course is nothing like an Infantry Section Commander's Course!
To say this is insulting to every Infantry Section Commander that has ever completed ISCC. ISCC is one of the toughest courses in the CAF and the attrition rate is very high. To tell people that BMOQA qualifies an Officer to the level of an Infantry Sgt. is ridiculous, laughable and completely misleading.
My ISCC started with 58 candidates and graduated 19 of the fittest, most skilled Infantry soldiers I have ever worked with.
For those watching this video, please do not be fooled into thinking you will have anything more than a very basic knowledge of field craft upon completion of this course. None of the candidates completing this course are qualified to an Infantry soldier's skill level, let alone an Infantry NCO.
This is a poor representation of BMOQA which can be a fun course to learn some basic fieldcraft for both Combat Arms soldiers and non-Combat arm Army soldiers alike. To believe that the average Army Officer in any trade is qualified to an Infantry Section Commander (Sgt) level is unbelievably naive. I'm sorry, but this claim is just not true to reality. It's like saying that I flew in a helicopter so I'm qualified to Flight Engineer level. Do better.
Thanks for the insights! Would love to have you on the series :)
Nowhere stated this means an officer had the experience of an infantry sgt… what it means is that officers coming off BMOQA are able to lead section level operations and have RSO/ARSO capabilities. They may suck at it, but they do hold the quals so that is the type of material you’re learning. This isn’t a “what’s harder” comparison.
Nor did I say anything about having the experience of an Infantry Sgt. It was mentioned in the video that this course qualifies candidates as an Infantry Section Commander.
I think what Kyra meant was that it qualifies the candidates to lead a section of soldiers.
Big difference.
It's just semantics.
Kyra has a great attitude. No missing match intended.
I'll admit I was a bit heated but I realize that was not Kyra's intent to claim knowledge or experience she doesn't have but just to try to describe the training. All good
What about the c6 ?
What ever one had their own room wow thing's changed alot
No they didn’t. Each section had their own wing. Only time we were in our own rooms was due to Covid quarantines.
My years in cadets were harder then basic training lol 10 weeks .
She is just another example.how WEAK the Canadian Military has become!!
Elaborate?
