Dennis Tucker joined our Band Autumn as a one-off as a guest and performed Yellow River with us, nice guy and a memorable moment. John Stirling (Autumn)
I remember watching these guys play at the Tarmac hotel in Laverton mid 70's and they were exellent, great harmonies, great Musicians, lots of fun music back in the days when people had a few beers, danced and went home at midnight!
Paul Cross * excellent NOT exellent . as in EXCELL ... Which Third World school did you did you Fail English in? Read more books and buy a dictionary. It's no too late. Order online if you are terrified to step outdoors.
I used to see these guys play at the Tarmac Hotel InLaverton Vic Aus, they were great players and great guys.....encouraged me to play in bands which I have been doing since that time [1977] wish there were still bands like this!
I remember as a small child these guys came to a block party for my dad and all the other Vietnam vets while they were home for r&r before they went back for their second tours .
Glad to post it. I'd never heard of them until I saw their videos on RUclips awhile back. I had saved a couple off them off of here. When I was this one was no longer on here, I uploaded my copy I'd gotten from here, back onto here so folks could enjoy...
At least you can write RUclips correctly, unlike other lazy unobservant people write RUclips, and they do not know how a calendar functions, shortening the years to TWO digits, writing 1970's as 70's - when the 70's was 1950 years ago. .. Mentally lazy people. Brain Dead in other words ...
Peter Taylor Dennis lives and plays in the Mansfield area now. Great man...taught my daughter guitar. Hope to see him again in the not too distant future.
Kev Moore. What do you mean by draconian laws against foreign music in OZ ? It was the British owned record companies that tried to screw the commercial radio stations in OZ for financial gain. The radio stations got together and banned playing their records for 6 months and the record companies backed down. This did allowed some Australian artists to cover songs that the radio stations had refused to play. As for draconian, the BBC who were the moral police in the UK, had a field day banning records for decades.
I had never heard of them until I came across this video and some others of them on RUclips. I had saved it to my computer. When this vid was gone some RUclips, I re-posted it from the copy I had saved off of here. Ya'll had some good stuff we in the US never got. About all we got over here from Oz music wise back then was the EasyBeats, Rick Springfield, and Gwen by Johnny Chester. Good stuff here.
There are a great many Australian musicians, singers. some of the decades past, and some more recent. Talent can be found in many countries and I have music video collections from outside of the English speaking world. I can send you RUclips links or Download links from my Cloud Server in New Zealand. All the best Cheryl, take care and stay safe.
Jigsaw used to play at the Tarmac Hotel back in the mid 70's and they were a great band and great blokes, they were always tight and had very good harmonies!
Never heard of the song "Love Fire" . But I remember Sky High. From what I've read this group is not the one who did Sky High and the one who did Sky High is a British Jigsaw and these guys are an Australian Jigsaw. Very confusing I know. I discovered this video awhile back & loved it & saved it. When I noticed it wasn't on here anymore, I put it back up for folks to enjoy.
Correct....that was a UK band, totally different group...so, on the label (& subsequent LP too) they were called "British Jigsaw"....just like "UKSqueeze", as there was already an Aussie band called Squeeze...
If you like this, other great Oz Bands from the early '70's are Daddy Cool, Skyhooks, AC/DC, Axiom, Little River Band, Flying Circus, Ted Mulry Gang, The Masters Apprentices, and The Angels, to name but several. As far as I know they all came from the Pub Rock circuits, which sadly are no more ane we are the lesser for it. Oz Rocks On !
you forgot Mississippi who later became LRB ( look up "kings of the world" by Mississippi and yes they all came from the pub rock scene. in the early 60's they would play at several different pubs in one night
No....that was a UK band, totally different group...so, on the label (& subsequent LP too) they were called "British Jigsaw"....just like "UKSqueeze", as there was already an Aussie band called Squeeze...

Trust an 'unbiased' aussie to say that! :-) It's really not better though, is it? -and only got to see the light of day because of draconian laws against foreign music in Oz back in the day. He doesn't even get the lyric right - it's 'cannon fire LINGERS in my mind' ;-)
Why dId they fuck with the lyrics, unlike R.e.m. who did not alter certain words. For the record my third purchased single in 75, was Sky high, by Jigsaw.
I love this version. I loved Jigsaw, great memories, great Aussie band.
The best version of this song.

One of the very first records I ever owned and my fav song at the time! This is the only version I knew back then.
Still the best version, runs rings around the other two!!!!!
Its not in the same league as Christies version much better guitar and production in the original
The very best cover of this song!
This is a pretty neat version of Yellow River.
This is the only version that I knew of back then and still the one that I like better than the original by Christie or the other cover by Autumn.
thanks man.. jon...
