They make some solid firearms and have really grown the ownership of ARs through their market of affordable ones. They have a great mission that they stand by on the thought of growing ownership via affordable guns to saturate the market thus making them in “common use”. Which if you didn’t know is a Supreme Court precedent on whether firearms may be restricted or not. If they are in common use, they cannot be restricted.
Some people buy these with the super short barrel. I like this length and it gives you the velocity and advantages of a PCC. This or the 10.5 would be the one I am glancing at. This build looks more intentional and its far less hideous than the Glock mag gum stick hanging out the bottom of a compact rig.
No disrespect intended but just as an FYI, there is no bolt carrier group because there is no carrier. Only a bolt in AR platform blowback pistols. Nice video.
still not totally sure why these things aren't very popular. I noticed that the s/n was below 1000 on the one in the video and the one I got about a month ago is under 250. Theoretically, this should be about as popular as their AKV, right?
I don’t think they are because of the AK-V. These, while I think they are a MUCH better platform compared to a Glock-mag AR, I think it’s just that they aren’t “different” enough for people to get into them. The AK-V wasn’t an AR nor did it take Glock mags. PSA also doesn’t market their guns as well as bigger manufacturers like Sig. My third and final point is that people want the PSA-5. Personally, I had saved up money for one. Then as each year passed there was a delay after delay after delay. I ended up just buying my 2nd lineup in my list of dream guns, an FN PS90.
@@GunBoxTherapy I guess that's a fair couple points, but even still, I think the ARV is a much more practical platform than even mp5 clones in just about every way other than nostalgia (or why ever people like the mp5 platform so much) But overall, I think this is probably _the_ best AR9 platform to date outside of maybe the sig mpx, but even that is only kind of related to the AR.
The MP5 is iconic for many reasons. Die Hard. Call of Duty. The “MP5 Slap”. lol. Look up “movie compilation of MP5 slaps” (very satisfying). I agree with you that this is a great AR9 platform with regard to reliability and cost. The MPX however, is a different beast due to the operating mechanism being a much superior system when compared to any other. Short-stroke gas-operated. The downside is more moving parts = more parts to fail in heavy use. Blowback systems just get dirty and need a lot of oil to keep truckin.
Probably because, like the CZ Scorpion, the AR-V has had its share of issues, and anyone who’s familiar with PSA products knows they have their share of 1st generation issues. While PSA is responsive to consumers in making necessary changes to next gen products, they’re slow to do it and getting said product back on the market.
I did. All of my videos from this point forward will be in 4K60FPS and HDR if you have a device capable of it. I’m glad you noticed, most people I feel don’t really care for watching videos in that high of resolution but I definitely do and felt like I needed something to stand out.
You are in luck because the majority of the guns are sold to customers of mine and I never see them after the review. I sold this one to a friend that I frequent the range with so I will bring some on our next range trip and try it out.
It might be sold out by now like everything else. It should accept a Fostech trigger but I’d ask them first. It seems to be a standard mil-spec AR fire control group.
Is there really a need for a forward assist? I’ve personally never used mine. I’ll also say that if you are forcing a round into the chamber, you may want to check that particular round as to why it isn’t chambering.
That's a mean looking pistol. I've come around on PSA and I'm now a fan.

How has it shot, good grouping? How is the reliability? Thank you. Good unboxing review.
Excellent!! This has been on my radar for the last 3 months! Looking at the builders kit for mine.
I think you’ll like it over something that accepts Glock mags.
@@GunBoxTherapy do you like shooting this gun better than the extar ep9? This gun and the extar are on my list.

When you chamber a round are you able to manually cycle this AR 9 pistol ???!
Great up close look. Thanks.
This thing is so bada$$, I bought the same 8” one.

I kind of regret getting the 8. Wish I would have gotten the 10.5
The 8” is good, in my opinion. The 10.5” will really only add weight and not really have an effect on the ballistic characteristics of 9mm.
Any specific reason why? I'm trying to decide between 8 and 10.5 myself.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I think you can change out the barrel for a longer one with no problems in terms of AR barrels.
Why do you wish you got the 10.5” instead of the 8”?
Great review, nice pistol.
Beautiful
Another great video! Did you get a new camera? Looking good!!!

@@GunBoxTherapy Yea it looks really good! Glad you made the move to that!
I didn't notice until i read this and went back and re-watched it. 😎😎
Looks good !!!
Have you tried any hollow points through it? How does it feed those, any issues?

Is this purchasable yet?
yeah, you can purchase it from Palmetto State Armory when they are available.
Will this shoot +p ammo?
Can I slap any 9mm upper on this?
I don’t believe so because of how the lower is machined but you may be able to get a more straightforward answer from PSA regarding that.
@@GunBoxTherapy thanks for your reply
No forward assist?!? Well I'm out...lol!
But it does have, bolt hold open, unlike the other PSA AR9s. Is that worth $3-400?
Is there really a need for a forward assist? I’ve personally never used mine.
I’ll also say that if you are forcing a round into the chamber, you may want to check that particular round as to why it isn’t chambering.
@@GunBoxTherapy I think he was joking. =)
If you ever wanted to sell it, I will buy from you.
