This is the greatest interpretation that I know of - of this stunning masterpiece of humor, personality, theatricality, and orchestration. This is one of Mozart's giant achievements. The Klemperer interpretation has always been special, one of my favorite interpretations of any genre of music. I hope that I will hear this music in my mind forever. I used to listen to this interpretation and follow the orchestral score. So much magic.
IMO, the addition by Mozart of this single stroke in the second go-round but not in the first is what, among many other things of course, marks this man as an ABSOLUTE GENIUS! All this amid such SIMPLICITY. Klemp seems to.have simply missed this subtlety.
My uncle was a writer of light novels, living in Greenwich Village, New York, New York. I was twenty one around 1961 when I gave him this record with the Linz on the other side, but he preferred the Haffner and played it often. One summer evening he was playing the record with the window open and the phone rang. "Hey, bud, turn the record down, would ya?" My uncle turned it off. Two weeks later he left on vacation. When he came back he did not play the record player. The phone rang. "Hey, bud, when I said turn the record down, I didn't mean turn it off! Put another record on, will ya?"
Is there a more brilliant first movement in the symphonic literature than this one? And Klemperer is unafraid to bring out the sheer diversity in Mozart's sublime string writing, as few other conductors dare to do.
Were we writing about the music? When religious views preceed artistic judgement the musical discussion is diminished.Come on folks. You listened to this for a reason, now what do you think...or don't you really care about the music?
@@peterheiman8621 I don even remember the commejt.sorry to have so upset you.I dare say I have experience in loving the music.I do not have to mold my comments to your perspective. Try to keep things to the point. And no ,I won't sully this site with further contentious comment.

감사합니다.
The magic of Mozart and the art of Klemperer and divided violins. Sheer bliss.
Of all symphonies Mozart wrote, this one has the most beautiful slow movement...
Remembering OTTO KLEMPERER, who died on this day in 1973.

Spannende Aufführung dieser erregenden Sinfonie mit perfekter Synchronisierung aller Instrumente im relativ schnellen Tempo. Echt genialer Dirigent!
MISSING :
The single drumstroke at 4:08 in the second go-round. VERY IMPORTANT!
Klemperer should be spelled Klemperor. He rules over so many works.
The strict and deep jew from Breslau playing the heavenly catholic from Salzburg .... this is fantastic , fantastic .....

In certain things Klemperer was the best that ever was.
