Musikalisch perfekte Aufführung dieser erfreulichen Sinfonie im angemessenen Tempo vom Anfang bis zum Ende. Sehr angenehm!

Elegante e bella esecuzione . Preferenza mia e’ per orchestre più ridotte ( Salisburgo era una città piccola co un’atmosfera più tranquilla e certamente poco rumorosa).

This recording is very special because Klemperer plays the slow movement at the right speed, not as Mozart marked it. I read that Mozart changed his mind and altered the speed marking to a faster speed. My experience is that when played as marked, the movement is mediocre. At Klemperer's speed it is divine, my favourite. Sir Thomas Beecham also played it very slowly but he never recorded it unless the BBC has tucked away in its archives a recording of a radio performance conducted by Beecham on a Saturday afternoon in 1954 or 55. I thought of writing to Beecham to beg him to record it, but sadly did not have the boldness to do it.
