  • A chat with Dave, a 7-year stroke survivor and Veteran, about living and thriving with aphasia. Dave enjoys sharing his story as a motivational speaker and is grateful for his long-time speech therapist at the VA, Karyn. Dave's wife Kathy joins in and shares a bit about being a care partner.
Aphasia is a language impairment that can result from stroke. It impacts speech, understanding, reading, and writing, and can be mild, moderate, or severe. Aphasia from stroke or other brain injury can improve with time, treatment, and determination.
