If he was studying advanced algebra in the 6th grade, he's more than a "crochet-prodigy." He's a prodigy who crochets. Well done, Jonah.
Good parenting too.
You need maths for crocheting too. So. He is both advanced in maths and with his hands.
Well said.
He says he wants to go to WestPoint and then become a surgeon. I believe he will do both, and have a brilliant career! What an amazing human, I love him.
and that’s on periodt
If you've never picked up a crochet hook, you can't understand the skill required to do this quality of work. Amazing!
Lallie Hayes 🙏👉ik its very ❣️difficult ❣️ not everybody can😯 learn it so easily ❣️🙏u have 2 have a talent for it , he could probably design or make clothes also👀👀 or weave crafts etc.. he is really an artist 🎨 if u ask me, nobody did 😬🤔🫣🫣😜but still im not wrong 😜❣️
I have never seen someone crochet so fast!!!

Yes! That perfect quality that fast! It’s insane! So much skill most hookers can only dream of achieving!
@@gato0082 tbh he should make a clothes shop
A surgeon who’s this intelligent and crocheted since he was a young boy? We need a million more of him please.

That kid has the most impeccable hand-eye coordination.
I crochet
My Great Aunt was very fast with a hook and a needle. She was blind. Hand-eye is not necessarily what you need for this skill. The sensitivity in your fingers tells you the tension in the string, the size of the stick, the tightness of the stitch, the space between stitches. Your fingers count them because if you had to rely on your eyes you would be lost. I spoke of my Aunt, My Mother crocheted a wedding dress for my sister that weighed around fifty pounds. It was a double skirt. Three people in our family have worn it now. They say it is incredibly heavy, it is made from the material she used for doilies, and table spreads. I honestly don't remember my mother looking at her stitches unless she made a mistake.
Hand eye? HE'S NOT EVEN LOOKING! hahaha He's pro

Grew up doing this too, about the same age, and don't ask about what math I was doing. ;-) Awesome, this!!!
He is such an old man OMG! I love him! The way he said "Lucked out" about his adoption just sounded like a 70yr's response it's so cute!

Care provider, not mother.
Don't be so insensitive to trans people.
Yes, you can tell he has a very loving and caring forever family. They celebrate and encourage his Passion for crocheting.

What a handsome and smart young man. Wants to be a surgeon, and said “time is short, you have to make the most of it”. He has a better outlook on life than most adults! Me included. ♥️
Most of the inner-city youths have the same thing said about them by a doting care provider just after being caught engaging in criminality. He was a good boy, he only stole from that old lady cause he needed money for medical school.

Couldn’t agree more. The world is better just because he is in it. Love you Jonah. God bless his parents for let him be who he is: beautiful.
@@NoahBodze shut up
Wow this is what happens when kids have loving parents that allow them explore and express their passions. Imagine how many untapped prodigies are out there. Jonah and his mom are amazing people 😍
So true!
And how many just get left to starve to death when luxuries are favored💔
It pains me to imagine how many kids with his talent are stuck with bad parents in a terrible environment and they never get to explore their potential.
Yeah you are right
well I do know one, whose talent was ruined.
Everything I want to say feels too cliche' but he is so impressive in so many ways. He has such a gift (not just crocheting) and he IS a gift to the world.
I know he will make a fantastic surgeon if this is his choice. Talk about nimble, deft hands !
What a blessing he is to his family & the world.
But what if he was White.
Would you still fall all over yourself to shower him with praise?
@@1neAdam12 it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with age.
@@nah_.
Not when it comes to White folks. They have a tendency to give praise to the so-called POC when they act like us. I think it's the most subtle form of racism.
No, I think you're in danger of feeling jaded. If one kid can be happy and grow up nurtured, I'm all for it. I think he's inspiring, especially for me, being Indigenous and living with PTSD. I'm glad there's still hope in the world for future generations and hopefully they will not face the pain I did. haha
It's not just the skill and precision, it's also the patience he has, unbelievable! ❤❤❤
Right? The patience part. I’d be so bored because it’s kinda repetitive.
What a beautiful Child. Wise beyond his years.
and he is so kind and well mannered. An example to how people should be.
He is like an old soul. I hope his teachers appreciate his gifts and no one stands in his way. He's going to do so much good in his life, he already has. He is teaching us how to love.
Absolutely!

What an inspiration.
Okay!
When he becomes a Surgeon, I bet he'll be crocheting.
AND from an 8-year old. :) !!
I bought one of Jonah's crochet kits a few months ago and have been crocheting non-stop ever since. This kid has touched so many lives at such a young age, he's so blessed!
The more that I practice and learn crochet myself, the more Jonah impresses me
The tension, speed, complicated stitches done with ease, writing his own patterns, etc.
Im pretty sure there's no cognitive deficiency and crocheting is a wonderful dexterity practice for a surgeon. A great future awaits you young Jonah, never change.
Fine Point!!!
I love this comment
very good
Crewel Work, moreso.
I heard that in med school they suggest picking up crocheting or knitting (I can't remember) just to improve dextererity. This dude is going to be world renoved surgeon. I am really rooting for him
I’d say they both “lucked out” - what an absolutely wonderful child to be the parent of. So amazing!
they both "blessed"out. :)
¡Many blessings to Jonah! This gift to you is a joy for all.
People should adopt, not breed. Same with pets! Adopt, don't shop! Help those who already exist!
I wish he was my kid. He’s smarter than me, he could probably fix my entire life. What a mind!
@@howtosurviveelectronichara6474 hahaha cute
What an outstanding boy. He has been adopted and has done really well for himself. God bless you and your bright future.
There is a book called "Power In Numbers: The Rebel Women in Mathematics" by Talithia Williams, Ph.D. One of these women is a physicist who crochets and her incredible work is featured in the segment on her career. She and Jonah should get together and really show what crochet can be! This young man is awesome.
Do you, by any chance, remember the name of the physicist who crochets? I'm interested because I'm a physicist, and a crocheter. And a woman. Thanks.
@@s7d788 I have the article for you. Her name is Daina Taimina and she is featured in the above-referenced book. The lady is brilliant with work. Email me and I can send it to you when you have the chance.
A lot of parents in my area would look at crocheting as a "girl activity". Kudos to them for being open minded and I hope he finds great success with his abilities and intelligence.
Crocheting and knitting were started by men who were fisherman and they had to repair their nets.
It’s great to see boys and men who knit and crochet. They were originally done by men, even though many women have done them for a long time as well. They skills/crafts that anyone can learn. m
I began crochet in about the 5th grade, having learned from my grandmother. I remember some teasing about it since I was a guy doing what some considered a girly activity. The teasing didn't bother me much and wasn't widespread. Little did these folks know that I could handle wrenches, hammers and saws equally well.
Thankfully we have begun to arrive at a place where skills are more appreciated for the skill and craftsmanship rather than associated with whether someone is male or female. Today we find and accept craftspeople with very diverse skills regardless of gender.
He is already a success.
a biker guy at my job does crocheting ... it's an anger management technique
With kids like Jonah out here in the world, hope springs eternal.
AMEN!
Once older, he should pack up and take his talents to be shared with his own people in Africa. They need inspiration like this.
@@1neAdam12 According to your consistent racist remarks, why would they want to learn a "white craft". Let the Africans do their own crafts instead of doing ours.

Was it the harry style one by jw Anderson because if so me too hahaha
I can't even make a magic circle properly 😩
I am 51 years old! And I just started learning knitting and it's not easy.. I'm so surprised by this little guy johna! I'm enjoying whaching his voice the way he's enjoying his work!! God bless you my little friend!!
I can't knit to save my life. You should try crochet, I find it vastly easier.
His crocheting is cool but his personality is even more impressive. As someone who has done substitute teaching for a while now, its truly rare to find a boy who is this sweet and thoughtful. very rare, lmaoo
It's amazing what a difference a loving, supportive family makes.
Not to take away from his family, but it's clear to me that he's also just naturally highly and uncommonly intelligent, creative, and ambitious. He clearly has a high IQ. A child like that doesn't always need an amazing environment to succeed. Another child could grow up in that same family and won't be like Jonah because much of what he is comes naturally to him.
@@anyaw340 of course. But without a supportive environment to encourage that he wouldn't be where he is. If he had stayed in the orphanage or been adopted by an unsupportive family he wouldn't have the opportunity to follow his passions.
@@GurtGobain you might as well just do it already.
A loving family didn’t make you a prodigy did it?
@@earlem9771 no but without a loving family it can stop someone from developing their talents. Children don't thrive or reach their potential without a supportive home environment.

I’ve been following Jonah for quite a while. He’s a brilliant young man who happened to be adopted by the most loving family. He’s a very special boy. When he becomes a surgeon, and I’m sure he will, how lucky his patients will be.❤️
Seeing him cry at the library made me cry AHHHH. Jonah you are God's gift to the planet for real.
They all are but they keep dying due to poverty... Face palm
Aww. His mom's adoring look when she glances at him!
She is so proud of him and loves him so much! I'm so happy that she encourages him in school and in healthy hobbies!
That's something I noticed. The way his mom looks at him... beautiful
You mean his adopted mom, because she could never be that king mom.
What a sweetheart❤️! I love his personality! He’s just so outgoing & friendly. Advanced Math class? And book tours? WOW! Obviously, he’s gifted in many more areas than crocheting! What a blessing to the world he is…he is absolutely his authentic self! He doesn’t try to put on some fake persona like so many do. That’s what makes him so awesome:)
My sister is a sentimental old soul and I thought for this Christmas I'd crotchet her a blanket, knowing she wouldn't be disappointed if it turned out wonky or looking bad, she'd just be happy that the time and thought was taken. Went on RUclips and done just a basic blanket. I'm a 36 year old bloke and I couldn't believe that when I was doing it the time flew by and how relaxed I was. Wasn't thinking of anything apart from the crocheting. I'm not afraid to admit I enjoyed it and looking forward to giving it to her. Well done little man, you're awesome! 👍
He is such a wholesome child omg.....I'm sure he's a light in the lives of the people fortunate enough to get to know him
HUNDREDS of orders?! No wonder he crochets so FAST. LOL What a cute, interesting and unique little slice of life. I Love it! Wish all the best to this family.

What a lovely boy! Not only is he so skilled, he has a wonderful dream and really gives back!
This video of Jonah gives me goosebumps. He is such an amazing person! He gives me hope for the future. Let's make this kid president! Such a wonderful inspiration for us all.
I have a feeling he’s going to do more than be a surgeon. I feel like he will be a leader one day. He’s already a leader in crocheting. So amazing. And he’s so humbled. He’s a true star.
This boy has all the potential to become surgeon. He is absolutely blessed and brilliant!

My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was 9, and it took me until I was in my early 20s to “get it”. Now I’m 32 and I’m at an advanced skill level, but that’s after 23 years of trying. The fact that he’s this fast and precise after a short amount of time is astonishing. I wonder what he would do if he learned to knit as well lol
My great aunt tried to teach me when I was a kid but I couldn’t get the hang of it back then. I finally figured out one stitch in college and now do single crochet (mid 30s). I’m still a beginner though, along with knitting, as I don’t get around to doing them much.
With trying to learn as a kid, for me I think I tried learning it left-handed as I write and do some things lefty. Turns out, crochet is one of the things I do righty.
he is also knitting in the video
It clicked for me with the math being mentioned. Jonah must have a very visual mind to envision which stitches in which order/placement will create which effects and shapes.
This kid is amazing and I'm just looking out for him, someone needs to get this kid and orthopaedic chair. If he crochets 5 hours a day he's going to get carpal tunnel. If hes looking down like that while he crochets, he's going to strain his neck. I just want him to be ok
Was waiting for someone to suggest that, I have carpal tunnel now after just a few years of light crocheting
He'll likely get away with it for a good few years due to his age and supple joints but it'll certainly affect him later in in life however, I feel that, as he is clearly a very intelligent lad, he'll find other outlets for his creativeness and/or burnout or perhaps he'll just be too busy to be doing 5 hours a day of crochet when he gets older - studying, work, learning other crafts.
What an amazing young man - either way he is destined for amazing things ❤❤❤
Don't be debbie downers
Pretty sure he's smart enough to have that figured out.
@@terismith4512 They're not. They're concerned for his health.

But no matter what comes your way, don't stop the crochet. Keep it coming. You can even start a business w/ all that yarn being sent to you. Yarn is expensive these days too. You can teach others. Your projects are quite beautiful.
