I'm so proud of you Jonah in high school I had a hard time running my mouth and finally the teacher called me crocheting in class but yet I was taking all my notes and my grades were improving and I wasn't talking as much so I crocheted in class and made gifts for my teachers they bought the yarn and I did the work so congratulations I'm glad to see that it works for somebody else I am a 66-year-old great-grandmother now

This kid is so advanced for his age. I love how his mom lets him do all the talking, yet be so supportive at the same time. I feel like he’ll be accepted into an Ivy League by age 14.

Okay....I got the feels when he was asked what he wanted to do when he gets older...I thought crocheter, artist, business man... No.... He wants to be a surgeon, go back to where he was born, and give free surgeries....My eyes instantly watered! 😅

Coming from a career in medicine myself, he will be an excellent surgeon. He better start learning some knot tying and needle driving!
He tells us on his RUclips channel that he has recieved a certificate of honorary surgeon from University of Wisconsin. He had been invited to spend a day there and he was actually able to practice suturing👍(I think he said he sutured chicken skin)

A tually! Most surgeons ...when working with a favorite nurse will do their surgury and leave the "closing" to a highly competant nurse...his manual dexterity is the key here!
Plus when practicing for a particular surgery...the concentration part is key!
I think many of his works need to be brought together with a needle! 🤗
Part of crocheting is knowing how to tie different knots actually. As for the needles, most crocheters sew the “tails” of the yarn in at the end to hide them within the piece itself. so I think he’s got it all covered 😊 it’s really a great skill

What a talented kid. The fact that he's so attentive and eloquent while actively crocheting is just mind-boggling to me. I've been crocheting for years and I don't want anyone to speak or even look in my general direction while I'm crocheting because I get lost too easily.

I was just showing my neighbor Jonah's website. He is so amazing and inspirational. I came across his work when I was looking up patterns. I believe that the home art such as crochet sewing embroidery should be taught to all children. We should do everything to bring it back. I am so blessed to have found Jonah's Hands.

That's a God given gift from his birth parents, it's in his dna, and I can guarantee one of them was a "stitcher"...his parents provided the perfect environment for his success, this is so awesome. He may not have been raised in Africa but Africa is in him, look at those patterns, wow!

Just we (Ethiopians) are proud with you! your both families are lucky specially adopted parents (Jenn and Chris Larson) because this result is their parenting style. Thank you so much Jenn and Chris Larson, you are example for all parents in the world.
Finally, I wish the best for Johan, I know you're going over there. Here Ethiopia the big challenge is there is no provider of crochet materials. it has some at Merkato (the big market at Addis Ababa) but there is no available different types of materials, yarns specially the big ones. May you and others try to give an awareness about this Ethiopian farmers have comfortable, easy and cheap clothes.

The same thing happened to me! In an effort to keep me from disrupting the class when I finished my work, Mrs. Strickland (my teacher) taught me to crochet. I'm 64 years old, and I still love to crochet, while listening to Bible Project ermons, lectures, and podcasts. God bless you little one!

Awesome! It’s great seeing this young man crocheting! I learned to crochet when I was a teenager, my mother taught me. Today I’m 56 years old and I love crocheting still. My mother crocheted until she was 87 and then had to stop because she lost her sight. It’s a great hobby for me and it’s wonderful to see someone this young out there showing people this great craft! ❤️❤️
