His adoptive parents raised such a wonderful son. I love the fact that they didn’t let him forget his roots, and worked with him to give back to the children of his orphanage. This segment had me teary eyed indeed.
For those who don't know, crocheting without looking is hard to learn, because of how accurately you have to place the hook. Jonah picked this up very young. I'm so impressed.

@@elfrog98 That's true. Another plus is that he's always crocheted the way that worked for him. Most crocheters have a tighter gauge. I respect Jonah very much, and I hope he goes far in life. He would make a superb diplomat. He shows respect for everyone he comes in contact with.

Lol I agree I have been crocheting since 12 and at 59 can't look away for fear of missing a stitch. He is amazing.
I taught that to both my son and my nephew when I taught them to crochet (my son when he was 8 y.o.---he's dead now, unfortunately---and nephew when he was 25). I've been doing it for most of my 50 years of crocheting, and I wanted them to have the same freedom of looking at other things while also accurately creating their projects.
I’m so impressed. This kid has passion, smarts, creativity and a kind heart.

He's rich already, in far more important things than money. As you said, he's well spoken, confident, he's articulate, he's talented and obviously intelligent, and he's a very loving and giving child. All of that is far more valuable than all the money in the world, and it can lead him to great things.

@@My2CentsYall - Yup, he has done well so far. He's not a prodigy though. Many children in Europe started knitting when they were that age and were making socks for the soldiers. When he was younger I remember telling him to slow down and watch what he was doing so he wouldn't make so many mistakes. But it looked good on TV (those who didn't crochet couldn't tell). Anyway, I'm glad to see that he's still at it and making a difference for those kids.
jonah rules. i remember seeing his story when he was younger & was blown away. i knit & crochet & i am a big fan of his. he does wonderful work. he's also grown into such a handsome & exemplary young man. sky's the limit, jonah, you're going to continue to do great things.

My son is 14 and he has made a sweater, pants, bucket cap, headband and is working on a new set of pants and his knots have reached the professional level!

Been following Jonah since his first RUclips video. The way he is now is the way he's been ALWAYS! I don't know that those parents are doing or what's in this young man's soul, but he is treasure.

This young man is amazing! I been crocheting about 2 years. It upset me that these news anchors did not have the courtesy to try on these beautiful hats this young man made! Shame on all of you. He put love into each stitch!! This young man is such am inspiration! Wish there was more kids like him !! I watched this live and three days later it still bothering me that they did not try on his special hats!!!
I felt the same way about the hats! It takes me a whole weekend to make a beanie if I don’t have anything else going on. Jonah is wayyyy faster at crocheting than me so it takes him less time but it’s still a lot of effort and it was so kind of him to do! I also wish they put his name in the video title too.
I thought the same then I just thought maybe they have ear pieces in and it would shift it and cause some issues to continue on. Who knows. But I think they were all in AWE just like all of us!! Def a true diplomat !!
@@gracefoster7587 yes, I know it is a lot of hard work to create hats, scarfs, blankets and each stitch is made by hand and not a machine that mass reproduces the item.
The men don't have the excuse the women have---the hats could very well mess up their (heavily sprayed) hair---but I agree, they should have put them on, at least the men should have.
Personally, I don't have the vanity required to care what others think, and I'd have put on my hat immediately and not taken it off for the rest of the segment.
But to give them a "fair shake," maybe it was hot in the studio, although Jonah was wearing one of his own crocheted sweaters along with one of his stocking hats, so...
Wow wonderful parents he's got who have nurtured his gifts and produced a magnificent human. He's embraced fully all of who he is. So kind and generous. Kudos to his mom and dad. Wonderful young man with a heart of gold.
What a delightful young man he is! I've been watching him over the last few years as he's grown incredibly in his wonderful talent, and as he's helped so many children in Ethiopia.
I'm a crocheter with 50 years of experience; I taught my now deceased son to crochet when he was 8 y.o., and his cousin, my sister's older son, to crochet when he was 25 y.o. He and his wife crochet together every evening, though I doubt they do any kind of good things with their talents (very self-centric people, unfortunately).
I love seeing people, especially young people, sharing their gifts with others. Thank you, Jonah, for all that you're doing.....and your creations are beautiful!
