I’m impressed that he isn’t just following patterns, he is inventing them:)
Gerrie Louden Bell I was wondering about that, I’ve been trying to crochet for years and the patterns are confusing to me🙄
Lois Antonelli google how to read a crochet pattern. Then get a pattern for something simple and follow it like a recipe. If it says chain 20 first, then chain 20. Then do what it says.'next. Keep following it each sentence do what it says. You’ll get there!
Gerrie Louden Bell
Exactly!!
Gerrie Louden Bell Thank you so much for your kind advice, it has been very helpful
I can read patterns but I can’t understand some of it also. That’s why I mostly watch videos on how to crochet things
He will be an awesome surgeon. Just imagine what his stitching would be like . What an amazing young man.
sarah glynn
Ikr?!
I'm not sure why you would think that he would be an awesome surgeon just because he likes crochet. His crocheting method seems to involve racing along at top speed fumbling with shaky hands feeling impatiently for the right spot. His hands visibly shake. He seems to be full of nervous energy and he's using his crochet as a creative outlet for that. He's clearly found a hobby he loves, and that's great. Crochet and surgery are not the same thing. Surgeons need to be cool headed and extremely precise and careful and deliberate. No fumbling around with shaky hands. He's still just a young boy so time will tell what he really wants to be when he grows up and whether or not he will grow out of his nervous energy. Children change their minds all the time about what they want to be in the future.
@@anneonimous9306 tbh he's probably nervous with those cameras, I mean, he's a young kid, I'd be nervous too 😂
@@anneonimous9306 - I've shown this video to several friends of mine, many of whom knit and crochet - they all said his hands were steady and his speed is due primarily to his technique and the sheer volume of projects that he completes.
By crocheting, he's also developing the dexterity, fine motor function, hand strength, and stamina that a surgeon requires in order to be successful at his craft.
Sarah Glynn I was thinking the same thing what an awesome beautiful child !
My heart is for his mother. He's very lucky to have someone love him as much as she does to especially let him crochet . You don't find many men or boys doing this kind of hobby. God Bless her for letting him be who he is. She will always be loved and Blessed. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Blessed his mom for having him :)
@@eikzenoj I think he's adopted
Think so too.
@@radhiyanature1075 Either way she got him she has him. She talks about his quality brighter than some other parents.
@@WifeofaJer I love him. I chat with him on Instagram
The perfect example of not letting your circumstances dictate your life. Stay focused young man and crochet on!
OMG, I just LOVE him, what a sweet soulful boy!!!!!
Go Jonah!!!! You will be a great surgeon.

Aww
He's fantastic! His momma is amazing too:) ❤️
This young man is going to go far in life!
His fantastic and adorable boy 👏👏
He is SUCH a grandpa...Talking and interviewing at the same time. Awww, so cute😙😙
I just wanted to say, this story warmed my heart and brought a tear (the happy kind) to my eye. It's beyond wonderful to see such enthusiasm for a craft (and life in general) and wisdom from beyond the ages in a child like him. I know he'll go very far in life, and already has gone such a long way from such humble beginnings. I bet someday, when he's a doctor, he'll be known as "Dr. Crotchet", or something along those lines.
artchic528 l crochet every day. But not at this speed 😍
God has blessed this sweet little soul. Life holds some wonders for him 😍
Julie Davison
Absolutely!!
God has blessed US with him!
I learned from my grandmother when I was 8. It took me a few years to finally create my own pattern.
Jonah is sitting there create trends with his patterns.
Good on ya Jonah. Keep up the good work.
What wonderful talent rolled up into one little smart boy. His work is phenomenal. What a great story.
He does have the personality & dexterity of a surgeon, not to mention the smarts. (RN who worked with surgeons) Jonah, I too was an orphan adopted at 5 months old but long before you! Gonna practice my knitting speed, you inspire me.
What an amazing kid! I love to crochet and have been doing it since I was little, but I cannot sit and carry on a conversation without looking at my work the way he did.
What an inspiration...so beautiful!!! I fell inlove with him the minute he said how lucky was...what a blessing! And thank you for saving him from torment...he is a blessing to all!
Jonah is a PRODIGY. There is no limit to what he can do. It takes a lot of smarts and focus to work in crochet and knitting. Keep up the great work, Jonah!!!!
Wow....what beautiful work!!! Jonah knows he can do anything he sets his sight on. And all that dexterity from needlework will be helpful in surgery.
little jack Also the analytical & attention to detail skills he uses in crocheting will help.
He is an artist
What a lovely being.
Peace and love young man and blessings to your folks.
We have a couple Ethiopians in the family too!
This an incredible young boy. 11 years old and is mastered crocheting. This is fantastic.
Jonah, you are amazing!! Such a sweet young man!! Thank you Jennifer for adopting him & giving him a safe, happy home. Your story made me cry because so many young children from war ravaged countries do not have a chance to excel, let alone eat, sleep or play. He is a light in this World of hatred & greed. He wants to help others & spread love. Keep teaching us, Jonah, how to be better people!!
Jonah...you are such a special young man and such an inspiration..May your life be filled with love and much happiness.
Awesome! I have been crocheting since 5th grade. It's a great hobby, relaxing. Jonah is winning it! Way to go!
I love the flower blanket you made. You should do a video on how to make the flowers and putting them together. Just a sample thanks Lisa
It always brings me joy when young peeps get into crochet! Keep at it young man!!!

Wow amazing jhona .be blessed . From Ethiopia love you!
What a wonderful, unselfish attitude this lovely young man has got. I’m sure I’m amongst many who wish him well. May the angels forever watch over you.
Dr. Jonah sounds so natural! Keep shining Jonah! 💙
I just LOVE you, little man. You are one lucky Mom to have him and for him to have you. Hugs to you both.
I was seven when an auntie gave me a hook and some crochet cotton, and told me to go make a doily and get out of her hair. She also gave me one of those little doily booklets (vintage now) so I looked at the diagrams and by suppertime I'd gotten a couple of shaky-looking rounds done. It was so fascinating, I've never looked back and I'm 63 now. I eventually finished that doily and my aunt bought me a set of my own crochet hooks. I still have them. All children should be allowed to try various crafts and see what they like to do to create.
Welcome to the life as a crocheting, I started at the age of five my mother was a factory crocker, ant his is how I learned to crochet , I am 68 now and I crocker as much as I can , keep up the good work and love life and your family you are one of a kind .

He is such a great little man and so talented. So sweet of his mom to sit with him while he crochets away!
Mom and son are so sweet, they are like twin souls.

what a PRECIOUS young man.. just gotta love him and his special gifts!!
Every time I see a video about this young man, I am just in awe. I love him so much!
Well, I’ve been knitting since I was 5. I think all kids need to learn to knit and crochet. Get em off those tablets.
I have taught many kids how to knit and/or crochet...it's a natural thing for me to do...I pick up extra hooks n yarn at garage sales n reuse shops..so as I teach them...I can give them a hook or needles n yarn to take home
This is the most grandmother comment I've ever read. I love it!
I agree! been crocheting past 5 years and I am.17
That is so true I'll be 57 in March and I have been crocheting since I was I0.
I learned to do this in one week and made a hat which was supposed to be a beanie
I love to watch his videos he's always polite while he instructs and they're very helpful
Of course that kid did that !!!!! He rocks. I learned to crochet at about five and haven’t stopped yet either.

AWESOME!!!!! I taught my grandson how to knit and crochet when he was 8 years old and I have worn everything he made me with "pride" !!! You are a surely amazing young man !!!
So proud of you Jonah & your parents too. Very respectable young kid & humble mother. All kids are a gift & have a gift, we as parents just have to help them find it.
What a very clever and talented young man who has done so much in such a short space of time, he obviously loves what he does and his parents must be so proud. Congratulations and god bless you all.
How sweet! I wish he was my son because I also enjoyed this art at a very young age and still do at the age of 50. He is a beautiful child of God. Deserves to placed on the HALL OF FAME immediately. May God bless him. And my he be blessed with a wonderful wife who shares his hobby. 🤗😍
I was 3 when I learned to KNIT. My mother and I spent many a wonderful time together knitting. Then I learned to crochet and it is the single, most beneficial pastime in the world next to reading. It is relaxing, creative and keeps the mind occupied and away from evil thoughts and self pity. I wish EVERYONE would try it and see for themselves. It's challenging at first but once the basics are learned it is the most rewarding thing a person can do and encourages patience and self discipline. Well done young man.
Jonah is a fantastic child. So glad he was adopted by the Larson family.
What an amazing gift he has. I learn to crochet when I was about 9yrs old. Most five-year-olds have no attention span whatsoever. For this little guy being able to concentrate. It's truly surprising how a 4 or 5 yr old can accomplish a project like this. It's a miracle in itself. But you can see he is some type of a prodigy. I want to learn how to crochet like him. 💖😍
Jonah..you are amazing. What an inspiration you are. Hope more kids follow your path.
I'm a fan! Getting yarn like that is like a kid in a candy store. Keep up on your craft. Good luck with your plans.
This child is going places . What an inspiration to thousands of people .
I had to share with young friends who are learning. Such a beautiful wonderful boy.
I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years, and I’m not even close to as fast as he is. What an amazing story.
He is an inspiration for adults, for kids and for the arts. So great to witness his life journey become that of a success story. So much he has accomplished thus far.
This boy is truly gifted!
All beautiful indeed well done to you your mum is so great herself lots of love to you all.Thankyou.
I have been knitting since I was 11 I’m twelve now! I learned to crochet about to 6 months ago
What a sweet child
And he's so lucky to have a wonderful, supportive and loving mom ^U^

Years ago...for a wedding gift..I crocheted a granny square afghan for two friends who were getting married. It was bound in black - each of the squares every color combination imaginable. It measured 6' x 7'... took the better part of three months to make. The look on their faces when they opened the box? Made it all worthwhile. When you crochet an item, and then give it as a gift, you are giving something special - besides the effort, the yarn and the time. Jonah knows that. BTW the lanolin in the wool will probably keep him from EVER developing arthritis..my grandma told me that!! God bless him..he's a delight!!!
So delightful, mums brimming over with pride.
God bless you mom for taking good care of a young boy 🙏👏❤
Wow Jonah! You are an inspiration!!!
You're a special young man, you're blessed with special hands to touch the heart of many.
