You have to keep in mind that the original pedals are practically inaccessible to third world musicians, and China is doing a great service by giving us the opportunity to get to know the most famous circuits. I bought an AT-DS clone myself and from what I've seen in the rewiews, it comes pretty close in both sound and build. So, that's all, Chinese manufacturers have been looking better to third world musicians, who deserve attention for being great artists too!
I totally agree, as a poor musician in college I can't afford 200 dollar pedals. I was never going to get it in the first place so I'm not taking money from the original maker.
You summarised the issue perfectly. When the exchange rate is so aggressive that buying a pedal uses the same amount of money as what you have budgeted for groceries + utilities, you need an alternative.
Yeah but the problem is intellectual theft and an unethical way to make money off the research and development of companies who develop products. Regardless of cost it’s morally reprehensible and undermines creativity. It’s just a shitty ripoff.
This is not a comment on your video at all, but people always cite the ethics of buying a cheap clone. Yet the ethics of large companies that are allowed and accepted to charge 100's of dollars for these pedals are never questioned. Often a lot of these pedals are made in the same factories as the clones themselves, which are sold for a fraction of the price. That's before we even mention that a lot of these big brand pedals are often just modded versions of circuits that someone else designed in the first place or are clones themselves. Friedman are hypocrites, they themselves rose to prominence selling Amps that were essentially Marshall clones. So they based a pedal on one of their amps, an amp which in itself was basically a modded Marshall clone and then get upset when someone sells a clone of their pedal that in itself was based on the sound of a circuit that they modded from the sound of someone else's design. STFU, there are two types of people that but a cheap clone. The person who buys the clone and likes it to then eventually buys the real deal or the person who was never ever going to pay that much for the OG Friedman to begin with. So basically they are upset that someone who could never afford or would never buy their pedal has access now to that similar sound. These people would never have bought your pedal to begin with!! That's why they bought a £50 clone. If not they would have just bought someone else's £50 pedal instead anyway. There are many companies that sell great pedals at reasonable prices like TC Electronic, NUX or Electro-Harmonix but some companies just want to price gouge plain and simple. I have no sympathy, I will never shed a tear over big business being undercut by smaller players when big business are the ones with all the margin.

I have the freedman and the steel string supreme by demon fx. Haven’t tried them yet my amps are with my tech guy
Hello, the in the video he said that it is illegal to sell this pedal in the US, do you know if it is also illegal to import it through Amazon or will it ship to a US address no problem?
@Radrex89 it’s not illegal to sell it in the U.S. it’s illegal to steal the artwork from it. That is what is trademarked. Electronic circuits cannot be trademarked.
@@RobertWJackson ah, so you think it would be no problem for me if I buy it, have it shipped to a US adress private postal service that will then ship to my country in south america?
@Radrex89 Nope, no problem at all.
@@RobertWJackson tyvm man. Have a good day.
These pedals are badass I really dig'em 🎸👍🎸 Great Video
🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Don't fortune cookies come with a 'best before date' like other comestibles? ....
The Freedman sounds very Fried...man. LOL It's a bit like my NUX Fireman which is kind of a clone of a BE-OD Deluxe?
The Fireman is also a great pedal. I have that one, as well.
Yeah I'm surprised they got away with that freedman pedal. Takes some nerve
I’d rather turn up to a gig with £300 quids worth of these pedals rather than £3k of the real ones for some twat to spill drinks over
5:24 sounds good
The Freedman is pretty close!
Currently they are making clones of clones.😅 Nordvang...... 450 dollar clone. Demon fx....... 78 bucks
Demonfx are hit and miss with me there chorus pedal was great and the king of drive sounds great on my twin reverb but terrible on any other amp but the tape echo was bad and so was the od 250 clone but for the price its worth it to me to have a 50/50 chance I'll like it crap there like 25-65$ depending on the pedal
In today's world of amazing gear WHY WOULD ANYONE WAIT 2 OR 3 YRS FOR A PE 5:16 DAL...5 WORDS FOR YOU BROWNE AMPS.PROTEIN DRIVE
where can i get these knock off pedals?
Amazon, eBay, etc.
AliExpress, DHGate, things like that
Let's remember that those of us who buy PAF style pickups are buying clones also
About ethics, I think is not ethic to sell a guitar pedal like friedman be od by the price of 2 months of hard work in latin america.
Love your videos, hate the jokes, lol
k
The real friedman is like $380 and the demonfx friedman only $50 and sound the same. Just go to show u how much all the big companies are taxing every one
Lol the BE OD is cool...if you don't have any other MIAB pedal to compare it to.
Dunno who paid who to overpromote the "Marshall clone with the politest (smallest) low end, ever" amps for $3k but I only am familiar with them since DSLs stop being stocked at GC.
Not really a tonal upgrade from one tbqh
k
you should try show business...

Crap demo
Sometimes I try to fart in my own mouth.
CRAP !
What happened??? Did you drop one on your foot or something???
You never tried one so go play with your Dolls ;)
@@GhostriderPossum my toys are made in USA the real Dirty Shirley and OD !
“Made In USA” from parts made in China. By the way, where’s that smartphone or computer that you used to type that comment made?
@@RobertWJackson Your cheap crap , and you advertise it as mentality ill. It’s what their ideology is based off of. It’s like they compete to see who has the strongest mental illness.
Stealing from companies. F this. Come on man.
k
Though, the King Of Tone is a Marshall Bluesbreaker circuit, and the BE-OD is a hot-rodded Marshall Plexi circuit. Who’s stealing again?
Yo momma F this
