This was my dream camera when I started in photography. And the 1N RS... People should stop spending all of their money on A-1s and get these. Actually, they can leave these alone so they stay cheap.

I have the predecessor, the EOS1 with booster / battery grip. I've had it since new and it has never missed a beat.
It has to be my all time favourite Canon camera.
Matched with my 35-350mm L, it gives the biceps a great workout.

Bad Flashes oh and also bought the camera. £99 for a nice condition one without the booster grip. Between the 5d3 and the R there are enough heavy cameras in my life :D

My favourite thing to mention is "It goes 6fps, so it takes whooping 6 seconds on a 36-roll if you really want to burn cash."
Also, love that they've tucked the drive mode-button behind a cover, so you don't do that by accident.
Also, it helped me finally understand why my second DSLR (a used EOS 1Ds mkii) had a COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS two-button-interface to change ISO, which makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE on a digital camera - but slightly more on a film-camera with dx-coding 😅

Honestly, you can’t go wrong with a Canon EOS camera. Even though I main a Praktica LTL3, I love my copy of the Canon EOS 600, and my Sigma lens. Canon do make solid cameras

I have the 1v - the LCD inside the viewfinder doesn’t work (so need to check the display on the top), but everything else does. It’s so awesome!

I do a similar setup-Film body is a gripped A2e and then for digital I have an a72 with the Sigma MC-11 adapter. I love being able to shoot film with stabilized, autofocus lenses and I also love not paying Sony FE lens prices. It owns!!!

Thanks for the review! I'd like to shoot wirelessly with my EOS 1N (self-portrait). I heard there exists somewhere a wireless controller that mounts on the hot shoe and into the T3 connector, to shoot from around 100 meters away. Would you know where I can find this? Thank you so much!

I’ve been debating between this camera and few others, which are the canon AE1, Olympus OM1, Nikon FM2, and the Minolta X-370! I currently have the 5d mark Iv, but I really want to start doing film.
oh!!! If you have a mark iv totally go for the the eos1n (or one similar) ... especially if you have EOS lenses!! Then you can use them on both systems it would be perfect. I do love my Minolta X700. The X570 has I think the updated light meter to the X700. Can’t go wrong with Minolta. But yeah using EF lenses on film look great.
Looks more like a blue-cyan cast than a green cast, adding a bit of magenta-orange either when scanning or in post-processing would probably get it back to normal colours. Not saying you'd want to, I am all for creative effects, but it's a useful tip if your portrait shoot turns out like this and you want to avoid everyone looking like they are on the verge of puking lol
Haha yeah. I definitely tried correcting it but some of the highlights were far too gone for it to look good so I just leaned in!!! Pukey Portraits by Bad Flashes.... has a ring to it 😆

Very late comment, but how similar would this be to the Canon Eos 10s? I understand you haven't gotten your hands on all cameras possible, but i like this weird in between of semi modern 35mm film cameras right before digitals got popular.
Like you said, I don’t know. But I’m sure a lot of those cameras are going to operate the same and it’s all about function and lenses. If those work for you I’d say you can’t go wrong :)

@@BadFlashes one seems to work... loading it up with film. The other has a slight, slight tiny problem... uh, broken shutter! The EOS A2E I scored is very clean, functioning and loaded with film so was really excited about that! Was secretly hoping an 85 1.2 or 1.4 was attached. But beggars have to settle on the EF 50 1.8 ;))
That shot at 3:19 is sooooo good. Id get a print of that and put it on my wall.

What makes the RS version different?
It’s was like Spider Man 2.1 ... where they added just a few things to make you think you needed the new one. 🤣 4Realz ... permanently attached power drive, 10 FPS shooting and maybe a few other things. The 1V came shortly after replacing the N line
I loaded it and turned it off, I can still see the frame number staying at 1 even though I turned it off. is it wasting battery?
Hummmmm I’ll have to check. Probably not.... I’ve had the same batteries in the camera for 2 years.

I kinda liked the funky green stuff. Although, I am red-green color blind, so they didn't look all that funky to me.
Aw thanks... and yeah maybe that's why they look good. But I dig them too. I have a bunch of friends that are also red-green color blink. Some of the best artist I know hands down!

I actually almost opted out of a career in visual arts because of my color blindness in favor of audio engineering, but luckily had an awesome painting instructor who convinced me to go for what I really wanted. Now I operate a camera and edit every day.

I have a question if the rubber on the rewind button fell off will it interfere with the camera function asking because I’m trying to purchase one from eBay
I wouldn’t be able to say for sure. But I wouldn’t think so unless it went inside the body. But it looks like it would’ve just fallen off. Hope that helps

I didn't use this camera for 14 years and it made it sick! Electromagnet disease... 🙄 I followed the instructions of a RUclips tuto, I tickled the magnet and the shutter works again, but the error keeps coming back from time to time. A professional camera built like a tank, but not so reliable it seems... 😔On the other hand, my 50e, 100 and 500n have well survived the passage of time. The 100 (Elan in the US), my favorite of all (almost pro without the weight and very quiet operation), still required a little delicate cleaning of the shutter blades with C-gasoline, the foams melting on it risking to damage it. But after that it still works perfectly! And almost as quietly... 🙂
By the way what made me reuse these cameras are the 40mm 2.8 STM pancake and some small rechargeable 2CR5 batteries... (except the 500n which originally has a more annoying battery, but is still quite light even with the grip & 4 normal batteries...)

@@BadFlashes never. Canon has so many mounts compared to Nikon. My camera can use every lens. And it’s one of the only Nikon cameras that can do matrix metering with manual lenses. Your friend over at grainy days made a great video about the f5. It’s was the f5 or f4 for me. I hate dslr menus so I was leaning towards the f4 and that’s what happened to be in the local store. I really want to make a video about it because I don’t think anyone has done it justice. Upgraded to it from my f3

They look just like Eterna 500T without a warming filter in daylight. It shouldn't amuse me as much as it does.. I totally did not shoot that film in those conditions for months. Not me, nothing to see here. And while I couldn't afford a 1N, y grabbed a 55 today. We'll see how it goes.
