    Hey Katie Nicolle,
    You can switch between rolls rather than doing what you mentioned at 9:52 . Just enable custom funtion 2. What it does is that it'll roll back your film but will leave the film leader out. Which is great because you can just switch between rolls fast. If lets say you've got 22 pictures that you've shot on your b/w hp5 film and want to switch to a portra 400 and shoot 5 images of color mid-shoot and then shoot some b/w again, what you can do is roll back the film with the leader out (using cutom fuction 2 enabled), switch to portra 400, shoot 5 images, roll back the portra 400 with the leader out, switch back to hp5, set the camera on multiple shots, cover the lens, shoot 22 shots blank in the dark, you'll be back on your 23rd shot on your b/w film.
    Never tried it but someone told me it works as long as there's no light entering behind the shutter, where the film is.
    Cheers!!!!!

      ATG and I have taught thousand of photographers those tips. Canon works better and father than Nikon.
      That was the second reason photographers switching from Nikon to Canon. But the 1st was ATG radio 2.4GHz TTL.
      You must remember or do ATG's steps:
      A. Place lens cap over lenses
      B. Closes Aperture down 16 or 22
      C. Set Shutter Speed to 8,000
      D. Shoot pass 2 (ex: shot 17, shoot pass to 19)

    Great Video. I know it can be very difficult to keep motivated to making RUclips videos especially quality ones you can be proud of. I really like your personality and you're a very good photographer too. I've seen some of your videos in the past but just now subscribed.

    You should try the Ilford Delta film and use 24 exposure rolls so you don't have to waste shots. The Delta line has a finer grain and sharper details for professional use.

    How you are rating your 35mm film? For example, are you leaving it at 400 or do you rate it 200 like you would for the contax?

    I love this camera! I just shot a wedding this past Saturday. I used my Canon 1V with my EF 45 millimeter F 2.8 and the EF 50 millimeter F 1.8 STM. I don't scan or develop my film at home so I mailed it out. I can't wait to see what my shots look like. I only used it to supplement my digital camera EOS R. I did use a flash so I'm hoping everything turned out well. Again I can't wait to see how the pictures turned out…… I have noticed though that most of my customers or clients aren't nearly as excited about my photos as I am. I know I have to learn to live with that LOL

    Hello Katie, just wondering, do you use filters when you're shooting film with this camera? I'm a casual digital camera user looking to give BW film photography a try and everything I've read about how to get started highly recommends the use of filters, most commonly a yellow filter in normal conditions outside.

    Hello,
    Thank you for this video. I am just starting to dive into film just for the fun of it. I still have dslr lenses that I love and would like to get the film look. Something bugs me a little as a rookie: you mentioned that you can edit your shots in lightroom. Does this mean that the camera (aside from the film roll) also has a memory card? How is it possible to import images to a laptop starting from a film roll?
    Thank you!

      she means she edits the film scans in LR. The film is developed and then the negatives are scanned into a digital format, often TIFF. These files can then be brought into LR and edited like a JPEG file.

    Great video! I'm debating on the 1V or the 1V HS with the power grip. How often do you typically have to change out the battery?

    • @KatieNicollePhotography
      @KatieNicollePhotography  2 года назад +1

      I don't need to change the battery very often. I feel like I've had the same one in for a year haha, but I also don't use it everyday!

      If you haven't made the leap yet, go with the 1V. You can add the PB E2 power booster when, or if, you feel the need.

    Does lens IS work on this body? Let's say, I have the 24-100 f4 L IS, will that IS work on the 1v?

    • @rawhides
      @rawhides Год назад

      Canon EF lenses with IS built in predate digital cameras my friend. It is only about the lens getting power from the body to drive the gyro in the lens to stabilize the elements.

    Just finished watching your video about lenses for Sony camera and came to your Chanel and see if you have update video about sigma 24-70 lens for sigma, and… then you’ve switched to Canon within a year 😅 I guess your business is doing well which is good, so that you can switch brands so frequently.

    Sorry, but dop depends on distance to the subject, aperture, focal length ... medium format is just the fact that you can forward towards your subject given the same wavelength. If the aperture is smaller (because same aperture will be way more expensive with medium format), then you will effectively get the same dop (or less) as compared to 35 mm...

  • @JacobChristiansen1

    Love the camera and the images, but I think you said it the wrong way around when you talked about DOF. You do get more DOF with a 35mm than a medium format camera (more in focus).
    As a side note, most lab scanners (pretty much all scanners like sp3000 and the noritsu), are made for 35mm first and 120 second. That means you'll actually get higher resolution scans for 35 than 120, but obviously 120 has less grain and more fidelity. Plus you have the option of getting higher res scans of 120 if you want it drum scanned later.

    I will never use a modern digital lens on my film cameras again. The large element count mixed with ed glass,aspherical elements and all the other stuff associated with lenses optimised for digital kill micro contrast on film and the image tends to be flat and sterile😭
