How far away is Alli Speed 's boyfriend? You guys should meet up, seems like he knows the place pretty well! Alli has some great vlogs of south Korea, very informative!
DudeLikeHELLA One of my friends just went to South Korea as well to study abroad. He also follows your vlogs and I told him to keep an eye out if he happens to see you.
I am about 13 minutes in to this vlog and I am loving it. Cory, you are great at capturing emotion through visuals. I am very moved and found a feeling of inner calmness while watching you. Thank you for your inspiring us.
I can't imagine they would be in bad hands. But I do bet the pets will miss them. Last time I went on holidays for 3 weeks and my cat wouldn't leave me alone for 2 days when I got back (he is an outdoor cat with a cat flap, we left him at home and had our neighbour come around twice a day to feed him and change his water, as well as give him some attention if she saw him around).
His wife has appear in previous videos, i was watching a video last night that she was wearing some engineer like cap. My guess is she is some kind of engineer or big thing for Exxon Mobile or whatever and she is on a job trip, that is why she is never on videos during the day in SK but at night yes. 2 Months is a lot for a tourist visit lol so i suppose it have to do something with work.
DudeLikeHELLA What he means is we like your vloggs because of you, not the scenery :) It feels like we're hanging out, if you're silent it feels....awkward xD
Yes she did but the guy in the background talking to her said "he can speak korean" in korean. So maybe she just spoke chinese thinking he came from china? lol
Yeah I noticed that too. Perhaps that has something to do with the high number of tourists from China and it becomes somewhat of a habit to use Chinese phrases with tourists? Anyway, it's so cool that we're on the same time zone now, Cory!
Cory, I felt the same shock you did when she asked if you wanted to move there for two months. I actually got tingles and goosebumps, as if she had asked me herself. If my wife asked me, I'd be packing my bags. I love traveling and experiencing different cultures. Sure there's a lot to see in our own country, but it's totally different when you're in a foreign country and out of your comfort zone. It makes for some of the best life experiences we could ever hope to have. Once in a lifetime opportunity, dude. Take it.
What a beautiful outing! Kristin making faces while your talking is so funny! I think you should go for the two months. You'll learn so much & i get to come along!!! Thanks Cory (:
I enjoyed this, Cory. At first I was like "But I like listening to your commentary" but then it got all beautiful and quiet and the peace and gorgeousness of the place was plain on your face, as descriptive as any words. Thanks for showing us this! PS Kristen when you were waiting for the taffy piece to break off, I hardcore laughed out loud you were staring it down :D PPS Moving to Korea for 2 months could be really cool! Then you would know so much and be able to order all the food and talk to people and just wow. Full cultural immersion.
I started to cry when the woman sat with you to get the picture. Thats so sweet. If only us Americans welcomed people into our country like that. I went to Salem last October and we witches dressed our part (yes my friends and I are practicing witches) We had several people ask to take pictures with us and that was a great feeling. Every time me and that friend are dressed up together we are asked fro pictures. (Two fat witches lol) I can only imagine how you felt Cory. Its so beautiful to have that experience.
If you click the closed caption (cc) button on the bottom of the video, it will translate what he's saying. For most of the video he didn't say much though. :)
DeeM30 Because CC always works. /rolls eyes. In the beginning when he said "Hello" in Korean the CC was "I know my cell do" Soooooo no. Before you tell someone to use CC use it first. Lol.
DeeM30 My ccsays the all thru the music on the car ride and it says a lot of words that don't make sense as well. I cant decipher the cc sentence at all LOL.
I did use it. I was just saying that was an option in case you need it (it might work for some parts and not for others). I know it wasn't translating correctly the whole time. Just trying to help.
i just want to say i love your vlogs, very inspirational. you are a good hearted and very good person. keep making these videos. watching your videos make me wanna you outside and explore, so thanks
I actually enjoyed a more silent vlog. As much as I enjoy your vlogs for you, I do also enjoy these for the scenery, and this one felt nice, more calming to just kinda see the sights and the culture. Either way, fantastic! And thanks for bringin us along!
I love love love this silent vlog. So meditative, and perfectly suited to the subject matter. Really shows off your knack for composition and your skill in filming. Great job.
What in the world does Christine do for work? I am so boggled by what it could be. I mean what job takes you from LA to Alaska, to South Korea for two months?
I don't like how some people like to tell you what to vlog, this was an awesome video and I love them all, short, long, silent, loud, cold or warm. Keep up the good work bud.
When my husband worked for SRC Vision, he would travel EVERYWHERE & I would go with him when I could. Once we went to Japan. He would work from 6am to 9pm & I would go out & see the town & gardens. No one spoke & I know what you mean by feeling LONELY. The was 1 time when an American SPOKE to ME! I about shit my drawers!!! But it was BEAUTIFUL EVERYWHERE I looked!!! There is so many stories I could tell you.....
I'm really hooked on your channel you guys.. in regards to the lady that sat beside you, you were lonely, you talked to the universe through your energy and then you were replied. Awesome videos
Cory you probably don't read comments from your videos this old but i just had to say these Korea vlogs make me so happy. I saw them when you first posted them and I probably haven't watched them since but I just had this urge to rewatch. They make me want to live there. It makes me emotional of how bad i want to go visit such an amazing place not just because of the tourist attractions but even the streets look amazing and look like an awesome place to be. Thank you for making my day better and watching these is the perfect way for me to relax right now. I have been doing my thesis for the past 2 weeks non-stop and I'm stressed out of my mind. Thank you again for being you and making me feel better. Strange to think that these vlogs came out about the same time I started going to uni.
i really enjoyed seeing all the fine detailed artwork all over the temple.. and i think the korean lady might watch you on youtube and got excited to see you.
Watching this was very peaceful, and it's something I may never get to experience so it was nice to see it, even if through a screen. The culture differences among humans are truly amazing. Living there for 2 months though? That would be hard, but imagine the experiences you'll have and things you'll learn! New is scary but it's worth it.
I hope you do it, Cory! I bet you you will love it! Your personality and curiosity are perfect for this kind of thing. If this is how much Korean you can learn in a couple of days, imagine!
Hi Cory, I have been a fan of your videos for maybe about 7 or 8 years. Watched most of your vidoes since SMP. I have never commented or post anything about your videos always just simply watched them. so after 7 years I have decided to comment on your recent S Korea videos. I was born and raised in Anchorage and actually I have been to your house....well not with you in it, I used to have a connection with a previous owner....so it's cool to see the house in your videos. But the real reason I wanted to comment is that I am actually of Korean descent and have never ever been to Korea in all 29 years of my life!!! But after watching your videos especially the hiking one......my fiance and I have decided to go to Korea for our honeymoon! So after being your 7 year silent fan....I had to share the news with you. And thanks for making great videos in Alaska as well...it kind of re-sparks my motivation and Alaska spirit....keep it up Mr Safety...good work!
I'd say go for it. It's just 2 months and this experience is going to do sooo much for you. The only downside would be missing the Iditarod but there's always next year.
Beautiful! Amazing!! That temple was something else..loved when the lady came up to you and put her arm around you. So many special moments. Thanks for sharing it with us! :D
DudeLikeHELLA I'm a civilian veteran and my hubby is AD military in Korea. We are in dire need of a vacation. We are in Pyeongtaek which is a bit north of you but we have been thinking of a Busan trip. If we make it down there in the next 2 months, would you want go on an adventure with us? Also, I'm giving mad props to your Korean. This is our second time here and I even took a class in college and you are better than both of us combined. Seriously, mad props!
This is one of the happiest videos not the mention one of the most beautiful you have made in a very long time. And that's saying something since you moved to Alaska. You've changed a lot as a film maker and it shows that with age comes wisdom and also appreciation for more then just fart jokes. Good on you, Cory, I think you've finally got it all figured out.
you said "wow" twice, "i pole" and "yum", are those korean words also? that flower at 11:44 was beautiful! such serenity and the rub on the budda's belly for a son was cool. what type of work does kristen do? i know, i know...a lot said!
tommielynn tyler ; Wow also the Korean expression although we say Wow=Wha... Yum=Nyam. Oftentimes we say concurrently as Nyam-nyam. Many human expressions are similar throughout the world, Mother or Ma = Umma in Korean Father or Papa = Apaa in Korean. I've been told Umma & Apaa both are Hindi words as well, and in many other regions. Best wishes!
tommielynn tyler ; Wow also the Korean expression although we say Wow=Wha... Yum=Nyam. Oftentimes we say concurrently as Nyam-nyam. Many human expressions are similar throughout the world, Mother or Ma = Um Ma in Korean Father or Papa = Ah Paa in Korean. I've been told Umma & Apaa both are Hindi words as well, and in many other regions. So technically he got away, Haha! Best wishes!
I have to admit, I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to watch all of this when you said you weren't going to speak any English until you got back. This vlog was extremely relaxing and very interesting though! I absolutely loved the music with the mood of the Temple, incredible.
Curious if the blue "tents" along the hillside were in a classic cemetery. I remember seeing a lot of hillsides in the country areas of South Korea with gravesites on top of the ground and dirt/grass was piled over the person. I've also seen royal tombs with a huge amount of dirt/grass on top in a park-like setting. It's been many years though.
Catching up on the videos...what a cliffhanger. Good news is, I don't have to wait, but I want to know how the heck was she so patient to tell you that news?
That tree with the papers tied to it, I learned what that is from a Korean born MMO I play that has an event based on that occasionally. I don't know the exact name for it, but it's basically a wish tree, where you write down your wish and tie it to the tree. I don't know what needs to be done to make the wish come true, though.
I think that the non speaking part was actually nice! It really felt like we lived the same experience as you did and it was very interessting amd beautiful! Thank you Cory for your awesome videos!!
I actually quite liked the no-talking vlog. I could concentrate much better on all the little details. But I don't mind if the next one has commentary again :) Btw 120 km/h is as fast as you are allowed to go on the highways in my country.
Love the tour no talking you let us See and Hear on are own . Its like being there. Just Love the water. And yes go take the chance go. Maybe you can send things back to your station . You will still do the race yes .
Corey you better not give up the iditarod to move there or stay there. I love the iditarod and I am so looking forward to you being there. the iditarod is once in a lifetime exp. and it could throw into a career of being an announcer (I know I am acting like your mother) but. your so perfect for the job! and I bet your going to be so good they will hire you for the Yukon Quest and so on and so on.....
it was a symbol in several cultures and religions long before Hitler appropriated it. this one is Buddhist - the arms facing the opposite direction of Hitler's version. Hindu, Hopi, Jain and Greek to name a few others.
Your adventure looked amazing, Cory! And I'm loving Kristen more and more between the MST3K sticker on her laptop to the adorable way she asked if you want to live in Korea! 😆
Wish you had commentary. You are very good at what you do. When I was in Ulsan, we managed to visit Busan for a day. Didn't visit this beautiful temple but had one of the best crab dinners in my life. I now feel like I have visited the temple.
What you caught on your video was absolute soulful there is no other word I could describe it. The water temple was peaceful especial with the ambiance you put it with. Some things actually made me tear up. For a country at war it's people are easy going it seemed like they were acceptable and respectful. Great Video I thought you really did great with this one.
I found a special beauty in silence in this video. Because such spiritual places are implying less of talking, so person could feel deeper. Cory, always big thank you for what you do! Best of good luck!
Such a beautiful and interesting vlog Cory! Seeing another culture through your eyes and camera is an awesome experience... What a very special opportunity to be able to vlog and truly be immersed in their culture Cory...Wow!!! Makes me want to learn South Korean :-) It will be interesting how it will all play out with the Alaska situation and plans currently ? But you guys will figure it out for the best and all I can say is WOW!!! What an opportunity for a young couple at this time in your lives... By the way Cory (hehehe) There is such a fantastic feeling for a man to have a son for his first child... But if it turns out to be a little girl they are so precious, special and beautiful too... Keep soaking up and sharing the wonders of life kids... Your experiences just make my life a little happier each day and very happy for you both... I love seeing and experiencing other cultures... Blessings and Peace, Dana~
Hey Cory at about 7:20 in the video you were walking up the stairs of the temple and there was a guy walking down dressed in white with a walking cane and it sounded like he started laughing?
That last bit was the perfect minute for the new series "Cory in Cory-a" And that moment with that lady was the sweetest thing. Makes me want to travel to Korea sometime.
I took Tae Kwon Do a long time ago, over 20 years ago. I used to know some Korean phrases and count to 10 in Korean but I have since forgotten. I do, however, remember how to say thank you in Korean. I would love to visit South Korea, seems like a very nice place
This was an awesome vlog, though I do enjoy your commentary because it gives me an idea of what an American would think of South Korea. My parents are from South Korea in a city called Gwangju I believe its about a three hour drive from Seoul. This brought lots of memories of the few times was able to visit, I can't wait to go back. I really appreciate the fact that you're so open-minded to all that Korea has to offer; "observation without evaluation" is my motto. The odd looking thing you ate on a stick was tempura odeng (not to be confused with tempura udeng, it's like a fried fishcake haha), it's pretty common in many soups in Korea. The candy that you bought is called "Yeot". It is a lot like taffy, but not as sweet and as processed tasting if that makes sense. It's a very traditional confectionary sweet in Korea. Keep it up with the long vlogs, I love it! Thumbs up so they can see please!
LAUGHED so hard when I saw the looks on both your faces a Kristin asked you if you would move there for two months! You will be fine! I survived in a french only speaking community for TWO years! And lived to tell! I'm happy to be home, and it was hard, but now that I'm on the other end I can say that it was worth it!!
Cory, it was really wonderful and respectful (not to mention impressive) that you learned and used Korean when you were there. When I was in France and Italy two years ago I basically relied on them knowing English (which worked against me as a tourist). It was really cool of you to learn as much as you did. Kudos to you, Cory.
I'm with her, never heard of Yabazaba.
How far away is Alli Speed 's boyfriend? You guys should meet up, seems like he knows the place pretty well! Alli has some great vlogs of south Korea, very informative!
I actually spoke to Alli just before leaving to get some tips. She let me know about the foods and people. :)
DudeLikeHELLA awesome! I bet she's jealous of you right now ;-)
Yeah, that would be awesome!
DudeLikeHELLA One of my friends just went to South Korea as well to study abroad. He also follows your vlogs and I told him to keep an eye out if he happens to see you.
DudeLikeHELLA Yay! Alli! I hoped you ha talked with her - she loved her time in South Korea didn't she? Apart from being with Chase!!!! :)
I am about 13 minutes in to this vlog and I am loving it. Cory, you are great at capturing emotion through visuals. I am very moved and found a feeling of inner calmness while watching you. Thank you for your inspiring us.
Two months!? What about your kitties and Penny? Are they somewhere they'll be okay?
Also my first thoughts
I can't imagine they would be in bad hands. But I do bet the pets will miss them. Last time I went on holidays for 3 weeks and my cat wouldn't leave me alone for 2 days when I got back (he is an outdoor cat with a cat flap, we left him at home and had our neighbour come around twice a day to feed him and change his water, as well as give him some attention if she saw him around).
They'll get new pets. Sporto, Koli and Neppey
His wife has appear in previous videos, i was watching a video last night that she was wearing some engineer like cap. My guess is she is some kind of engineer or big thing for Exxon Mobile or whatever and she is on a job trip, that is why she is never on videos during the day in SK but at night yes. 2 Months is a lot for a tourist visit lol so i suppose it have to do something with work.
krlitos ooo nvm tough penny was his wife u were asking for, i remember now is the dog lol. SOrry
Again, THANK YOU! What a wonderful experience, thank you for sharing it with us. Beautiful temples, beautiful scenery and you are including us fans.
this wassent my favortie vlog it would be nice with some commentary i dont want to see any more just silent videos
I wasn't being silent for the vlog but I'll keep your suggestion in mind.
its just that i would like to have some, ooh look at that i wonder how they made that and such instead of a 3s show of it
DudeLikeHELLA I really enjoyed this vlog and I totally get why you did it like this!
DudeLikeHELLA What he means is we like your vloggs because of you, not the scenery :)
It feels like we're hanging out, if you're silent it feels....awkward xD
Couldnt have said it better lidge
The woman in the red coat said thank you in Chinese btw Cory xD I think she was a tourist just like you :)
Anyway, it's so cool that we're on the same time zone now, Cory!
xiaotao216 i think maybe it's because 'thank you' in chinese is more recognizable to americans and europeans versus 'thank you' in korean
waterflowzz Who thinks a white guy came from China xD pretty sure they studied their Korean just like Cory did :P
+MoonLiteWolfPro I think they are Chinese living in South Korea:-)
Oh my god what a BEAUTIFUL experience. Thanks for sharing.
Cory, I felt the same shock you did when she asked if you wanted to move there for two months. I actually got tingles and goosebumps, as if she had asked me herself. If my wife asked me, I'd be packing my bags. I love traveling and experiencing different cultures. It makes for some of the best life experiences we could ever hope to have. Once in a lifetime opportunity, dude. Take it.
Kristen is providing him with great opportunities. Even just moving to Alaska was her initially.
I cant get over this video... this is what changed my whole perception of Korea... so tranquilent.
What a beautiful outing! Kristin making faces while your talking is so funny! I think you should go for the two months. You'll learn so much & i get to come along!!! Thanks Cory (:

that to be continued twist though. Awesome video. Scenery, sights, sounds, food. The temple was amazing, and no english, how immersive!
I started to cry when the woman sat with you to get the picture. Thats so sweet. If only us Americans welcomed people into our country like that. Great job learning Korean so quickly! I know I couldn't have done that. Impressive!
For the no English bit, why didn't you put English subtitles like you Korean subtitles at the beginning of the video?
If you click the closed caption (cc) button on the bottom of the video, it will translate what he's saying. For most of the video he didn't say much though. :)
noooooooooo sheeeeeeeeeeeeet!
DeeM30
Because CC always works.
You two are a hoot! Very nice video, Cory. Thank you for allowing us to travel with y'all and share in your lives. Stay safe and happy.
DudeLikeHella slow TV :) Sure gives a beautiful feel of a foreign country......
Candles reflecting in the water... beautiful
i just want to say i love your vlogs, very inspirational. you are a good hearted and very good person. keep making these videos. watching your videos make me wanna you outside and explore, so thanks

What in the world does Christine do for work? I am so boggled by what it could be. I mean what job takes you from LA to Alaska, to South Korea for two months?
Jen Jen Who Must be a Navy Seal operator.. its the only logical choice lol
Kristen works for Exxonmobile I believe
Engineer
That place looks amazing. I really need to start traveling. Not getting any younger.
I don't like how some people like to tell you what to vlog, this was an awesome video and I love them all, short, long, silent, loud, cold or warm. Keep up the good work bud.

Kristen you are so funny! I loved how you threw that question out at the end of the video! Can't wait to see what you two decide to do next.
I really liked seeing a new perspective on this country. It is beautiful.
Today I was sick at home, however I got to go to Korea! Licked this blog, even without the Commentary, Thank you Cory and Kristen!
i really enjoyed seeing all the fine detailed artwork all over the temple.. and i think the korean lady might watch you on youtube and got excited to see you.

That was such a lovely moment, when that lady came up and sat next to you and put her arm around you and had her picture taken. It was very touching.

I'd say go for it. It's just 2 months and this experience is going to do sooo much for you. The only downside would be missing the Iditarod but there's always next year.
She in a month. The Iditarod starts March 7. That would be plenty of time to view the Iditarod before moving.
Beautiful! Amazing!! That temple was something else..loved when the lady came up to you and put her arm around you. So many special moments. Thanks for sharing it with us! :D
You gotta do it.2 month is not long and it would be a great adventure.

Oh, excellent timing with that last question Kristen, you're awesome!
You will miss spring in Alaska but of course you should still do it.
you said "wow" twice, "i pole" and "yum", are those korean words also? that flower at 11:44 was beautiful! such serenity and the rub on the budda's belly for a son was cool. what type of work does kristen do? i know, i know...a lot said!

Do it dude, have fun like you always do, see where this life takes you, and enjoy the ride
I thought it was rather nice to just be able to experience what you experienced.
Best vlog ever! I teared up when that lady sat with you! We ARE all one!
I just looked it up for you and 160 kilometers equals 100 mph. Wow! So enjoying your journey. The scenery is gorgeous!
Curious if the blue "tents" along the hillside were in a classic cemetery. Awesome episode Corey loving this series.
Awesome video. Sometimes words are not needed.
It was so amazing to see the temple! it made it seem so magical when you spoke very little.
and your face is absolutely priceless at the end! LOL
That tree with the papers tied to it, I learned what that is from a Korean born MMO I play that has an event based on that occasionally. I don't know the exact name for it, but it's basically a wish tree, where you write down your wish and tie it to the tree. I don't know what needs to be done to make the wish come true, though.
Cory I really enjoy your vlogs, you tape the same things I would if I was there, thanks, keep it up!
You always come up with interesting ideas. So productive!
Awesome vlog!!! I loved it. I could say that Corey took his youtubers(me too) on a tour to see an awesome temple.
I think that the non speaking part was actually nice! It really felt like we lived the same experience as you did and it was very interessting amd beautiful! Thank you Cory for your awesome videos!!
Am crazy on your Korean vlogs that i had to refresh every 30 mins for the Day 3 vlog! :)
Korea looks beautiful!I hope to visit there someday!
정말 가보고싶어요
I actually quite liked the no-talking vlog. I could concentrate much better on all the little details. But I don't mind if the next one has commentary again :)
Btw 120 km/h is as fast as you are allowed to go on the highways in my country.
What about the Iditarod?
The Iditarod is starts in 9 days and lasts 9-15 days, so he'll have time.
She said, do you want to move here for two months, in a month. He would have plenty of time to cover The Iditarod
Jules Xaree I hope so. :D
I wish my life was exciting as yours... Kristen is funny, should be in more videos with you!
Love the tour no talking you let us See and Hear on are own . Its like being there. Just Love the water. And yes go take the chance go. Maybe you can send things back to your station . You will still do the race yes .

I really enjoyed this video!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank You so much for sharing your adventure Cory!
: )
Corey you better not give up the iditarod to move there or stay there. I love the iditarod and I am so looking forward to you being there. the iditarod is once in a lifetime exp. and it could throw into a career of being an announcer (I know I am acting like your mother) but. your so perfect for the job! and I bet your going to be so good they will hire you for the Yukon Quest and so on and so on.....
At 9:11 Swastika in the background. wot...
It is a sacred symbol. Hitler stole it. Don't worry about it.
Okay, thank you.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika
"It is considered to be a very sacred and auspicious symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism"
it was a symbol in several cultures and religions long before Hitler appropriated it.
this one is Buddhist - the arms facing the opposite direction of Hitler's version. Hindu, Hopi, Jain and Greek to name a few others.
Lol thanks guys, I understand now :)
This was a lovely experience. I never imagined South Korea to be so beautiful!
Such a beautiful and interesting vlog Cory!
Seeing another culture through your eyes and camera is an awesome experience...
What a very special opportunity to be able to vlog and truly be immersed in their culture Cory...Wow!!!
Makes me want to learn South Korean :-)
It will be interesting how it will all play out with the Alaska situation and plans currently ?
But you guys will figure it out for the best and all I can say is WOW!!!
What an opportunity for a young couple at this time in your lives...
By the way Cory (hehehe) There is such a fantastic feeling for a man to have a son for his first child...
But if it turns out to be a little girl they are so precious, special and beautiful too...
Keep soaking up and sharing the wonders of life kids...
Your experiences just make my life a little happier each day and very happy for you both...
I love seeing and experiencing other cultures...
Blessings and Peace, Dana~
OH the suspense! How exciting for you guys!
This is a great video. Thanks for sharing a little bit of South Korea with us Corey. :)
Your vlogs are awesome! I should definitely go explore outside the city next time I'm in Korea!
I believe the thing you ate on a stick was eomuk/odeng. In English, it's called "fishcake".
Hey Cory at about 7:20 in the video you were walking up the stairs of the temple and there was a guy walking down dressed in white with a walking cane and it sounded like he started laughing?
No his mouth didn't move or his face didn't react when sound happened I think it was someone walking upstairs behind him
That last bit was the perfect minute for the new series "Cory in Cory-a"
And that moment with that lady was the sweetest thing.
Breathtaking, thanks for sharing. Other cultures interest me, they are all amazing in there own way.
What a serene video.
