Happy birthday Kristen!! As scary as it may be, it is only 2 months. I don't even think you need a visa if its under 3 months. I think you'd regret not going more than pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. This is a great chance to grow! Try new things! Why not? I think deep down you agree, but I don't doubt it's a scary decision to make. Just choose what makes you smile. I'm going to be traveling to California soon (from Canada) for a 4 month internship. First time traveling internationally, in the states, and by myself. Granted, Californians speak the same language, but still. :) Learning another language is good for the brain. If you can afford it and manage the cats for a few months, I'd suggest you do it! Not sure if it's a good idea to take the cats to Korea, how would they act? Have they ever gotten out and lost?
lirothen How lovely to read your comment after so many rather "negative" ones! Thank you so much for being upbeat and positive! - whether or not every detail you mentioned is exactly correct. Cory knew being with Kristen was going to be very different and mean moving about a lot. I'm sure they will work it all out. They love each other and they're intelligent adults. Good grief! it was a shock to him yes but he chose to edit that bit in to the vlog and he will adjust to the whole idea I'm sure - however they decide to do it. Come on people! When you're in a relationship that means a lot to you, you work things out together. Give them some credit. Sorry if I sound horrible, I don't mean to. :)
This video made me so grateful to live where I do, we who live in nature are really, really privileged. To think I could live in a concrete jungle like most of humanity does.......even if they do have cakes that one could never find here in Whitehorse, still I'd rather have the mountains and the wide open space. Love these vlogs, gives me an idea of other places and more appreciative of what I have.
Happy Birthday Blessings to Kristen xx and that was such a yummy looking cake.. OMG really enjoying this vlog, getting a sneak peak at South Korea.. Just incredible.. some place I'll never get to, so it's friggen awesome to see it the way it is now.. Thank you so much Cory! your adventures help me see stuff I'd never see otherwise.. ~ I don't know all the things you have to consider for even a temp. move, I wont even guess ~ but if it's meant to be things will fall in place for you both.. ~ *giggle I'm willing to house sit for ya in Alaska ~ ((hugs)) to ya both
Happy Kristen-Day!! Love your "birthday bombshell!!" Hope you do the SK gig! DudeLikeHELLA , I can only tell you I have never regretted the time I spent in S Korea. I treasure the memories and the friends I made there. You would love traveling around the countryside, even though at times you may feel a bit lonely. AK will still be there but this is kind of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! My viewer vote will continue to be with you no matter your (& Kristen's) decision.
I take the positive over the negative on the news. You get to see more of South Korea, you get to see the sites and sounds of the country.I love yesterdays video as it was simple and sometimes not saying a word is the best way to experience it. Keep it going. :)
Go by what you think is best in your heart dude, literally being in that country and being part of that culture must be fantastic specially the sightseeing, before you uploaded these videos i never knew that Korea could be so beautiful my god!! Thank you so much for sharing! Yes Change can be for the best, but it is also a worry for any person like you said. "The past can hurt but the way i see it you can either run from it, Or learn from it" Rafiki (Lion King) hahaha Of course everyone will have their own opinions on here on whats the best decision for you, but its all up to you man. You must have a lot of roads to choose from right now...i hope you make the right one! Oh and if you can find a drink called Gokuri out there, let me know cause that drink is delicious! Long time subscriber! -Jim
wow , kristen is 28 . my daughter would of been 28 dec, 15th .oh no i giving my age , or close to that . i could be either one of your parents age . but you know i feel as if she was around she would do the things either one of you are doing .watching you guys makes me feel that she could of done so much .i better stop . what i want to say you make me smile till it hurts ,and i want to thank so much for the things you do and share .i just keep on wearing that smile you keep on giving me .HAPPY BIRTHDAY , KRISTEN ! be safe , have lots of fun , and live life to its fullest , and as always be happy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That _Bohemian Rhapsody_ music video was just... WHAT ?! LOL All the best to you, Kristen ! Hope you're having a wonderful 28th year on this planet, and all the countries you chose to live in :-)
Happy birthday Kristen! Cory you are gonna do what makes you happy and that is all that matters. It is a big choice but your a intelligent guy you'll figure it out.
Pretty damn cool Cory! I lived in Seoul almost 20 years ago and seeing these images and sounds feels so familiar. Specifically we lived in yangsam (spelling) but our apartment building was well over 20 stories. So many people! Keep rocking on brother!
Cory, About Frozen Beer - "Think frozen beer and you automatically think of an exploding bottle in your freezer. But Japanese beer maker, Kirin, has created Kirin Ichiban Frozen Beer, made with a machine that creates a freezing foam ice cap on your beer that keeps your brew colder for longer. - Frozen beer was first introduced last year in Tokyo and quickly became a huge hit. Buoyed by that success the company took it to the U.S. and debuted it at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and a select other places like the Japan Pavilion at Epcot in Orlando. The cold cap melts into the beer, but isn't supposed to water the brew down. But how does it taste? The folks at Food Beast went over to Dodger Stadium to have a taste. While they say it didn't really taste like anything, it did keep the beer cold for about 30 minutes during a hot summer day. Worth $10 a pop?"
What ever the two of you decide, you two will make it work. Even if Cory goes back to alaska for a few weeks then back to S. Korea for a week or so while this is going on. But who knows, you guys will make things work. Now how is this going to work out for the ummmm unmentionable plans in May and preparing for that?
Thanks for the vlogs Cory. I honestly check your youtube page most days! xD Two months in S Korea ain't bad, sounds like an adventure to me, hell, perhaps you could even combo it with that iditarod - only ten days right? Oh, almost forgot. Happy birthday Kristen! =)
For those wondering what the big news is, why not watch the Day. 3 vlog? :) it's really awesome, lots of beautiful things to see & experience through the video (probably the only way I'll ever get to see such sights). Plus you will watch the big news part and it will help answer your questions (and you won't feel so lost) :)
Also I'm sure what ever happens with where your going to be in two months will work out. I mean you moved to Alaska without even buying a house first and now you have a beautiful house and everything seemed to work out.
"I live for a living". Damn. This hit home, man. If I would be in the position to truly, honestly say that about myself when I'm your age - I'll know that I've done good. Frankly, I think you should do what's best for you and Kristen. After all - it is only two months. I hope I'm speaking for most of your subscribers when I say we wouldn't mind - actually we would love to see two months of South Korea. These vlogs have been different in an interesting and cool way. On the other hand, I know you probably have big long term plans with Kristen that you should probably take into consideration (also, Iditarod?). I just hope you decide to do what's best for you guys - whatever that may be.
Happy Birthday Kristen. I hope you can work it out in such a way where you can both stay in South Korea for a couple of months. It's such a wonderful and exciting opportunity.
I wanna go back to Alaska :( I love your vlogs and have been watching since you skipped the rock across Mirror Lake. I even went back and started from the beginning just to make it complete. I was so looking forward to the Iditarod and now I get S. Korea? I know this vlog is not about Alaska. It's about you living your life and all the experiences about living life, but if you move to S. Korea I will probably stop watching. I so hate that too because dude, you rock! I know, you are like well whatever, Dude Like Hella will go on, but I just can't do S. Korea. I will keep watching to see if you are going to move there though. I'm sorry :(
honestly, "why not?" is a good doctrine to live by and it's served you well so far - go for it, as long as your kitties are well taken car of. I wish I had your opportunities and courage to take them!
What an awesome opportunity... grab it... enjoy it...the Iditarod begins March 8th so he will be home in time for it...and he is a contributor to the news not a full time employee... or at least that is how I understand it... I am sure either Cory or Kirsten's family will take Penny, Sparta and Lokie for the 8 weeks they would be gone... what an experience it would be...another adventure...
How cool to be able to immerse yourself in another culture. It is so enriching. It helps understand the world, even your own personal world in a different light. And that is awesome. I truly think that the world would be a very different place if more people made it a point to try this a few times in their life. Because it would be easier to understand other people's perspective and find compromises. Of course you have to want it. I live in Switzerland and I know many Americans and British that have been living here for 10 or 20 years and still don't speak french.. I am Mexican and Now I teach in French.
Been to SK myself, LOVED it, the worlds most underrated tourist destination: Jeju island, Busan, Gyenngyou and Seoul, me and h/b will definitely go back (avoiding some of the food though :-0)
Gotta admit, the South Korea thing hasn't really been that interesting. Really looking forward to the return to Alaska because *that* has been interesting. Lovely place.
Alas, Cory-- spontaneity does not usually include buying a house or doing a regular gig on TV. I was a freelancer for a while, got married, moved to rent/buy and had a kid-- lemme tell ya, not the way to settle down for X-number of years to pay mortgage and water bills. But-- this hyar internet thing allows you to keep on going-- essentially anywhere-- which of course you know. The most difficult aspect is Loki, Pokey and Penny-- I'd say this would be a no-brainer if you could bring them. This is an extraordinary opportunity and it is with your sweet patootie (that would be you, Kristen). You would end up speaking considerably more Korean (perhaps even reading... !) and-- if you're not arrested for some obscure anti-espionage law-- will have amassed a huge body of very unusual video tourism/life experiences. I would say you could put on a travelling lecture, at some Korean--American Exchange, of your life-- if you wind up speaking Korean a little better, so much the better. Maybe your TV gig could include some Notes From The Field or some such. It would be interesting if you could find an Alaskan angle to Korea. You did find a ton of Pacific Rim products throughout the supermarkets in Alaska... My last thought, if you could bring the brood OR if you could be sure of someone taking exceptional care of your at-home gang: Do It!
We don't know who in there she works for.. So we cannot know if she get shorter day or not. It is unusual actually here also but sometimes happens - especially if it's team project and others in the team are okay with it.
What a wonderful adventure! Many people never leave the state where they live let alone get the opportunity to live in another country for two months. It's a chance of a lifetime. Do it now before you have kids. :)
You HAVE to do the Iditarod, you will let too many people down if you do not. You can always go back to Korea afterwards. You seem somehow out of place, you are a country boy, the big city is not for you. Maybe for a short holiday but not for two whole months. I think you will be very unhappy to spend two months in a city. If you have to stay, you should plan on travelling a lot, seeing a lot and being more out in nature. There must be someone who could go with you if Kristen can't......
I would go for it two or three months would go by fast and before you know it you would be home again. ITs like a vacation. I liked that city area with all the cars and lights. A lot of nice looking cars over there:)
Im fairly new to your chanel but would you let me know what job Kristen is employed? Sounds amazing to be moving to Alaska nd now to be in South Korea for a couple months!!!!
I try to watch every episode, and this may already be answered, but what does Kristen do for a living? (if I may ask) I would love a job that had a bit of travelling! P.S break out your drone, would love to see footage of South Korea from the sky :)
I use the phrase "Why not?" all the time. I hosted a foreign exchange student from France a few years ago, and she would say that when we would get her to try new things. It gave me a whole new outlook, being a very reserved person myself, I'm afraid to branch out, and having her here helped me.
Happy birthday Kristen!!
As scary as it may be, it is only 2 months. I don't even think you need a visa if its under 3 months. I think you'd regret not going more than pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. If you can afford it and manage the cats for a few months, I'd suggest you do it! Not sure if it's a good idea to take the cats to Korea, how would they act? Have they ever gotten out and lost?
You do need one! There's a 30 day tourist visa that you can extend to 90 days.
Badzeep depends on the country. For south korea you do not need a visa for up to 90 days. All you need is a passport.
It's different for each country. If I want to be in SK for 3 months I'll need a tourist visa.
lirothen How lovely to read your comment after so many rather "negative" ones! Thank you so much for being upbeat and positive! - whether or not every detail you mentioned is exactly correct. Badzeep yeah YOU might but cory is american and i was speaking from an american perspective. Since the original comment was directed towards him.
Wow so cool i wonder what kristen does that lets her go around the world.
2 months of Korea footage, can't wait haha. It's something completely different, Can't wait.
I've been living here for 4 years now and these videos really made me feel nostalgic of my first year. Thank you for reminding me of that!
Happy Birthday Kristen! I hope that you had an awesome day! Love you!
love the things you share all the best on decisions you have to make coming up..earnestly seek love.
This video made me so grateful to live where I do, we who live in nature are really, really privileged. And, the adventure continues. You seem to find fun and interesting adventures each day. Thanks again for sharing!
Happy Birthday Kristen! Hope you and Cory are having fun!
Loving these South Korean vlogs.
However if you stay for two more months won't that affect your Iditarod plans with ktva?
She said move there for 2 months in one month. The Iditarod will be over by then.
***** There will probably be many years to come to experience just that moment. 2 months of South Korea doesn't come that often ;)
Dave In Kentucky oh I see.
He's promoting his job at ktva so he gets more money
Happy Birthday Kristen. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Happy Birthday to Kristen! You are awesome!
Happy Birthday Blessings to Kristen xx and that was such a yummy looking cake.. OMG really enjoying this vlog, getting a sneak peak at South Korea.. Go for it - it's a once in a lifetime chance & it's only 2 month! Happy Birthday Kristen
Random one, but I really enjoy just hearing how you think Cory. Really refreshing. Keep it up :)
Totally be spontaneous. The best experiences come out of being spontaneous:D
plus, this is controlled spontaneous, the best kind where you get paid housing by the company.
"I Live For A Living". WOW! That's the most powerful thing I've heard in a long time. Enjoy your life Dude. Except all challenges. :-)
Happy Birthday tomorrow Kristen!!!
Happy birthday Kristen! Hope it is wonderful as you are! :D
Whatever decision you make, I'm sure it will be the right one.

I love that.

All the best to you, Kristen ! Hope you're having a wonderful 28th year on this planet, and all the countries you chose to live in :-)

Happy Birthday Kristen! That cake looked very yummy. Karaoke videos are always really odd. lol
Happy Birthday Kristen :)
Cory will you be going back to Alaska to cover the Iditarod?

Cory, don't leave AK, buddy! Your "living in AK" series cures my homesickness!
When Kristen said *move* there yesterday, it didn't actually mean *move*.
Happy Birthday Kristen. I hope you can work it out in such a way where you can both stay in South Korea for a couple of months. It's such a wonderful and exciting opportunity.
You are so lucky dude! GO FOR IT!
Happy Birthday Kristen! :D
Cory!!! Its your life do what you want! You only get one, so enjoy it. 2 months is nothing.
I think two months in South Korea sounds fun, it's still short enough to be counted as a sort of vacation :)
I wanna go back to Alaska :( I love your vlogs and have been watching since you skipped the rock across Mirror Lake. I even went back and started from the beginning just to make it complete. Nice shirt and hat. I feel like you're a fan of Valve.
Happy late birthday Kristen!
Dont move there for 2 months :x I wanna see you in the iditarod!! :) and you look so happy in alaska :D n your cats n dog??

You should check out Dubai one day
Kristen sure moves around a lot. From Oklahoma to Houston to L.A. to Alaska and now to S. Korea.
***** civil eng for some huge ass company exxon or bp some oil company
***** my guess is the military as there are bases in both Alaska in Korea maybe?
mslaerik66 ridiculous assumption
mslaerik66 NOT military
Mozo901 it's not a ridiculous assumption. that was my first guess, too.
Been to SK myself, LOVED it, the worlds most underrated tourist destination: Jeju island, Busan, Gyenngyou and Seoul, me and h/b will definitely go back (avoiding some of the food though :-0)

The frozen beer, called mana, is actually beer served with a slushy/frozen foam. The dense foam keeps the beer cold without diluting the taste.
Do more vids on themes kitty
That slow-mo woman on the horse: SSSSSSPPPPPAAAAAAAAAACCCCCEEEEEE

I think it would be cool to see vlogs from South Korea for a couple months. But now you'll definitely have to learn more of the language Cory. lol
What about alaska and the dogs!?
By the way, was the seashell heart a sign?
What a wonderful adventure! Many people never leave the state where they live let alone get the opportunity to live in another country for two months. It's a chance of a lifetime. Do it now before you have kids. :)

@4:27 No wonder you see Hyundai everywhere, because Ulsan is the home base of Hyundai Motor and also Hyundai Shipbuilding.
I try to watch every episode, and this may already be answered, but what does Kristen do for a living? (if I may ask) I would love a job that had a bit of travelling!
P.S break out your drone, would love to see footage of South Korea from the sky :)
Wow they had a song from queen
I use the phrase "Why not?" all the time. I hosted a foreign exchange student from France a few years ago, and she would say that when we would get her to try new things. It gave me a whole new outlook, being a very reserved person myself, I'm afraid to branch out, and having her here helped me.
So, what would it take for you to get that hat at 2:32 for me?
