This is the story of how a cheap, 200,000 mile Lexus IS-F, changed my life forever. Big thanks to Jared Pink, and special thanks to the Dustball Rally crew, as well as Jordan Cole (www.jordancolephotos.com) for the amazing shots!

One of the most underrated cars ever.
Yes, but this really only became true the last few years after RR Racing cracked the ECU and released a tune, showing the mill's true potential of ~500hp "FBO". MAJOR props to Rafi and his team for that. Makes it absolutely nuts to think the Mustang GT's engine is just now getting similar technology in its 5.0L some TEN model years later.
It's definitely not a super car though. He throws that term around a lot.
@@palindrome414 yes i agree
@@Leander311 no it was cool before that
10 yrs? I’m confused
I just bought a 2011 ISF with 59k miles. I’m in love with it. Everybody I’ve shown it to is blown away after riding in it. Amazing car.
J Lowery how much did you pay for it?
JMV Garage I paid $32k. It’s almost flawless and just had the 60k service done by Lexus dealership so it was basically turnkey.
You still have this car? I just picked one up from BaT with slightly more miles (67k) and I'm loving it. Wanted to see your 4 year update :). They have definitely held their value...
@@PhilLayshioh congrats! That is some LOW miles for an ISF
One of the best rally recap videos I've seen
*"There seems to be water falling from the sky..."* 😂😂
No thats rice
200k miles for a Lexus is nothing.
True. My 97' LS400 is going on 240k
Triple H3lix my 98 ls400 has 225k and I have two running back up motors and transmissions one is 117k miles the other is 171k miles😀
One of my first cars i owned was a 95 Lexus SC400 and i managed to hit 270k miles on it before my gf crashed it. Made me a Lexus guy for life.
Had an is300 that ran to 206k until someone hit me and totaled it. Car was rock solid! Lexus for life now
@@hoarbaby lexus build their cars to last, the same can't be said for many other companies...
Brilliant. This is why EVERY Canadian, that flys to Arizona or Florida (me 5 months ago) should DRIVE. America is breathtaking and it’s people have always been beautiful. Thank you Tavarish and Thank you to all the hundreds of wonderful Americans that I have met along my many journeys in your Beautiful country.
Drive. .... Even if it’s only in a rented Dodge Caravan!
I love my ISF. The most reliable power you can get.
*laughs in corvette c5*
@@topkek7003 Ew lol no one wants a C5 trailer park car
@@iluvmyeski I want a c5. It's a great value and they dont even need servicing until 100k miles apart from the regular oil and fluid changes.
agree
@@topkek7003 C5 makes a great track car, but i'd definitely stretch for a C6 for the street, so much nicer.
Got a 98 ls400 with 185k miles that I got for 2.5k. Drives like a dream can’t imagine how nice that is f is, congrats!
As a european living next to the mountains, I couldn't help but get a smile on my face when you described the windy roads!
Anyway.. you're still a great driver and youtuber, and now I want to go for a long drive! 😁
Excellent video sir! What a great car for a rally like this, I love my old IS-F.
Tavarish actually driving something? What kind of sorcery is this?
Driving like elderly is moving, not driving.
ISF best car ever. I miss mine
Jacob wrote this. ;)
You sold it!!! whyyy!!!
Should have kept it! :)
Is it just me or is this going to be a classic car someday?
@@connorberglund7032 Only ones kept in really good condition that have low miles. However the prices have already risen a bit from what they once were.
Awesome job on this video man. I agree with you on basically every point. Everyone should do this. It is therapeutic. The drives are essential to why we're car people.
The bond with the vehicle, the views, the endurance, the mental engagement and relaxation. Long drives are what let you really feel cars in their entirety and be yourself.
Kind of funny that I'll be releasing my first road trip video later today. I was gone about 40 days longer and down about 3.2L and 300+ HP the whole trip, but still!
Congrats on the trophy win! That Rolls Royce theory was amazing. The people are often one of the best parts of a trip too, of course.
P.S. I also have yet to find a true flyover state. There is always something to surprise you.
Great video as always. Brings back great memories from that trip. So happy we had the opportunity to share this experience with you! Thank for the shoutout!
This was a great video, man. Editing, perspective, suspense and all - very well done!
Ok this was awesome. Now I have to decide which car to sign up with. Hmmmm
It's been 3 years what'd you choose? Lol
You need to do a episode like this every 3months! NOT OPTIONAL!
I found this video as a relatively new sub, having watched plenty videos in a binge session, and seeing the incredible relationship built between tavarish and Jared currently in 2021. I find it amazing to see how bonds can be built and cemented because of one experience creating a life long friendship. This video is absolutely amazing and will be my motivation to start appreciating my 200 000 kilometer m111 engine in my 20 year old E200 Kompressor that I spent alot of my time and money on that I absolutely love to death. Thank you for such incredible content and I cant wait to see the new season of car trek with your beautiful Aston :)
One of your best videos yet !
Thanks:)
Love this style of video. Keep it up! Can’t wait for the first full drive video on the lambo!
This might be your best video yet. I love the idea of a rally that is all about a huge variety of cars and meeting new people. Keep it up!
I really wanted an IS F beforehand, and now I really, really want one!
I love my Lexus is250, I know they are not for everyone cuz low on hp,but excited for awd in snow, but if you can't find a isf for a good price cuz they really hold their value I hear a is350 with a 6 speed are really fun too but they can be hard to find as well, and with 306 hp you still go pretty well.
I'm on my second ISF, best car I've ever owned. Ive had supras, mr2, frs, is300s, and eclipse. ISF hands down.
I had a 2008 ISF for a year and got rid of it. It was a good car but it wasn't for me. I prefer my 13' Boss 302 because to me it was more fun to drive. If you ever do get one an ISF, a aftermarket cat back exhaust will really wake up the car.
buy mine!
Get one.. u won't regret it
This IS-F is a sleeper.
Except for the fact that everybody and their moms know wtf they are
JC you must be hanging out with some pretty car girl/guy people and their moms then because all my teenage friends and family members that call them car enthusiasts have any idea that the IS-F exists
@@2econd428 huh? Hanging out with Pretty car people and their moms? Lmfao. Sure dude. Wtfever. 😂😂😂

Thank you for making this video. I get so wrapped up in working on my cars and customer rides, I forget why I ever got into the car scene in the first place. Epic. I agree with the hundreds of other comments, do more videos like this. Its good beer drinking content.
One of the best Toyotas made ever
This was a really good video man! Thank u for giving us these content .
this is by far the best video you made thus far!! awesome to watch and so happy you found it so profound. :) Thank you for sharing this with us.
Awesome video, and nice change of pace. Glad you got to experience the Dust Ball Rally.
top notch video! definitely putting this on my bucket list. I know the video doesn’t do justice for the views in person! love your content!
Excellent video mate! Extremely well done and I think one of your best.
Some of your best content in a while. Love the passion. Well done my friend...well done.
Phenomenal storytelling and editing. By far the best video I've ever seen you do.
This was one of the best videos i ever seen on RUclips! 👍🏻👍🏻
I can never miss a Tavarish video. Really love all of the videos. :)
Dude loving the new format for the videos awesome!
I love how much of a sleeper this car is and the reactions from people when I beat them at the drag strip.
at the "drag strip" 🤫
I miss your ISF channel 😢
this was a very remarkable journey that you took me through even though I wasn't there at all thanks Tavarish for bringing the experience to us
Best video you have ever made by far great job tavarish ,very inspiring .2019 is going to be amazing.
Hammer down in the rain! Love it Tavarish... the best driving experience!
I just did a rally through West Virginia a couple months ago. Some of the best roads to drive through. Thanks for the video!
If you like the West Virginia backroads, you would love US1 north of San Fran, through Mt Tam to Point Reyes, then cut over to Petaluma. One of my favorite drives I've ever done
You are really a fantastic RUclipsr Tav! Always top quality content, the editing is fantastic, and anyone can enjoy your goofy humor. Absolutely my fav channel!
Awesome great episode totally love it keep up the good work
This was a great video lol
This is a great car. I always wished they made six speed model
The 8 speed auto is very, very good
No you don't. The 8 spd is epic!
@@tavarish Yes the auto is fine, but im just a huge supporter of manual transmission. i find them more fun to drive personally.
AJ Imports I agree
Yep, one of the best automatics ever made... faster than many DSG’s, and it came out TEN years ago! TEN!!!!
I used to be a BMW fanboy when I had my e46 sedan but it gave me so many issues that I didn't want to deal with as a college student. Recently picked up a 07 IS350 a year ago and it's been such a joy to drive, especially with some suspension mods. One day I hope to have an ISF!
Shot by Kumar A lot of other brands are more fun to drive than a Lexus, especially the big 3 German ones, but the issues they can bring is just too annoying over time. I'm now 33 years old and reliability is what I want. No one wants to spend 6k on repairs or to break down (at least I don't)
Awesome vid T will watch this more then once. Also hope your lambo is getting there.
Glad you finally showcased an ISF! That’s my car!
Awesome video, I live in the deep south and it was cool to see you take some of the routes I've driven...
Tavarish, this feels almost like a professionally produced episode. I was already super happy for you "finishing" your lambo, this just makes me even more excited for what's to come! Here's to a million subs, keep it up 👍👍
Very nice video mate, well done ;)
The most coolest tavarish video I ever saw in my life
Another excellent video Tavarish! It's people, cars, roads, scenery, and experiences like this that make the being a car person so amazing and what brings us together as one car community. Watching this video makes me miss the Drive Florida rallies (bringing the Lambo to one soon maybe?) and Miatas at the Gap more than anything! Man I really hope to make it to a multi-day road trip rally like this one day!
By far my favorite video on your channel!
This video should be on BBC, Tavarish Hoovie and Doug DeMuro would make the perfect hosts for Top Gear
You're joking right!

Great video, I'd love to see You use this format more often. Im sure a bunch of us viewers would let you a drive our cars on trips like this.
Never miss a tavarish video.
This video is one of the reasons I finally pulled the trigger on an F last year. Love your content, Tavarish!
This is awesome! Hope to see more videos like this in the future
My first car changed my life, I went to the dealership for something that I would have junked, but I still have I and it is fun
My mates father got the first ISF in Australia (he's best mates with Andy Scifleet) and had the exact same plates! Also black.
Cool car back in the day!
This is a really well done video! I love it!
Now that's one awesome video @tavarish..🤘🤙👌👍
I am gonna fly from uk to join this rally next year god willing. Tavarish r u gonna b there and where do i get more details for this.
Keep up the magnificent work i know 2019 will be your year an cant wait to take the ride with you sending good vibes from WA state (aka the green state 🗣💨🤙🤗🕺) lol
In my opinion one of the best videos you've made so far. Makes me want to go out and find my own road. Keep up the great work man
That was an awesome driving experience you shared with us! Thank you for taking us with you! I agree that one should do this at least once in their lifetime, especially if they're a die-hard car/driving enthusiast (or not).
That Lexus sounds so amazing and drives like a dream I'm sure.
Finally, a car I'm excited to see on the channel
Gold Tape FTW!!

Nice vid, Tav. I like the editing and layout. Very much Like a tv show.
Loved this episode!
That looked like a lot of fun! Maybe next time you'll do it in your own IS-F. :-D
I think a touring episode is great. its good to get out of that garage👍🏾
probably one of my top episodes so far. thanks for the constant flow of great content
This, in my opinion, is your best video man. Really enjoyable to watch and I liked the editing and the way you put it all together. Really nice job. Less of the Lamborghini content and more of this please. The only other Lambo video I want to see is you giving it full power on some nice roads and giving us that review you talked about in your last video
I WANT A LEXUS ISF
My IS300 is at 204k miles and I still beat on it everyday. You make me believe that I can build it up after I graduate! Awesome video.
well.... your is300 is a great car. but still not even in the same ballpark as this car. Its like a. totally different car. But still a great long lasting car
Kel Loves orange soda I know they’re different cars. My point was that even though my car is high mileage, I have the confidence to build it up like tavarish does. The IS-F is a great car, but they’re hard to come by. Plus I love inline-6 engines. There’s plenty of parts and forums at my disposal to build my 2JZ block is all I’m saying. It’ll be a real contender when I’m done with it!
I had 2 is300s, now I've had ISFs. Lexus makes an awesome car.
I have a 2J Lexus myself.. Isaiah is totally right the 2J is an amazing engine. This may be a different car and it is, but doesn’t mean it’s better
Awesome video tav!
Tavarish awesome video. thanks for taking us along on your road trip. I subbed around the time you were working on the Lambo now that it’s done great to see you doing other adventures. Love this channel.
Btw your right about Philly. I lived there for awhile. Boy did my car take a beating there 😂
Wow that Lexus IS-F the descendant of the Toyota Chaser
Dang that motor sounds so good! Looks like a really fun week and drive.
This video (and your channel) had a big part in my purchasing of a 2011 ISF last may. I love the camaraderie you and Jared share. I only took a 958 mile journey from Denver, Colorado to Mojave, CA as my first ever test drive of the car i just bought, and you (and Jared) are absolutely right, Lexus built that car to raise hell and get from point A to B with no worries. I hope to one day run a dust ball rally (and maybe meet you guys). Thanks for the awesome videos man
Nice to see that you doing other things beyond the builds! Like!
"this boasts a rolls royce engine"
Perhaps an airplane?
Exactly what I was thinking lol.
What a good video!
Thanks for sharing the experience and putting this together Freddy, I enjoyed watching it.
I really like this new format. Keep up the awesome work you do Freddy.
Owning one of them baddies, I love it, the best car out there
Yeah, nah. This was the best edited video you have ever done. Well played T
Great video Tavarish, planning on picking up an ISF in 2019 for semi daily driving and fun on the weekends. Your video definitely tells me I'm picking the right car.
You have made some good videos my friend but this was absolutely fantastic! The sound from that IS F though, i'm in love.
I really dig this style of video!
I got mine for $15k with 142k miles 2008 at first I thought I overpaid but looking at the comments im happy with what I got :)
I Am Fernando Paid over $30k for my 2011 ISF. Worth it. These cars are the Supra of Lexus.
1 how many miles did you get yours with?
Cant wait to see the video for 2019!
Absolutely loved the emphasis you put on the 400 horsepower. People today have lost all concept of power numbers these days, so it’s good to see a true enthusiast reaffirming reality.
I'll bet my life savings that that Lexus will last longer than any of the other exotics you have 😂
