I am fully obsessed with like everything about this series. I thought the book was great, but the way these two embodied the characters and how in love they are is just like soul shattering.

Yeah, the casting director took the "fucking eyelashes" comment from Henry in the book to HEART when they picked out Alex lmao The man's eyelashes are ridiculous!!! I'm not surprised that I've seen pretty much every reacter comment on them.
nah because i also get distracted by his eyelashes in the movie 😭

Percy is actually supposed to have BRIGHT neon pink hair in the New year's party scene he only has like pale pink in the movie... But yeah the character is meant to be a super visually obnoxious looking character ...super bright colours and interesting fashion choices in the book and stuff.

I think he does it take the attention away from henry because Henry doesn't want the attention.
nothing is more real than the reporter complimenting his eyelashes like who gave Taylor (Alex) them lashes
also the director matthew lopez is a gay man and when looking for a Prince Henry wanted to cast somebody he knew would 'protect' henry and i think that's so sweet, you can tell even if this rom com that they cared about Alex and Henry

The chemistry, intimacy is perfect!
On that scene , they really were making love! It wasn't just a s*e*x. It was the first time that I saw this gay s*e*x scene so beautiful. Most of them are very quick and rushy. And from behind!
It really showed that it was the first time for Alex ,and the first time for Henry with the one he is in love with.
I have red the book last year. I mean... great adaptation from the book.
And....I think that the museum was a sign that he could feel that he could easily and without fear walk among people and be himself. Dance with someone you like without anyone watching or judging you.

The book (which is amazing and has way more amazing moments in it) was written as a wish fulfillment of a US with a woman President after Trump won. So Texas turning blue is part of that, especially that it's Alex's state and he's very passionate about politics in the book, even more than what's shown in the movie.
It's such a fluffy loving story and it feels like we never get happy gay stories so I'm glad with how it ended. There's an extra chapter where they get engaged too!
Yeah, Alex's parents are an interracial couple in the book as well... He's not supposed to look like her. He is supposed to have her accent, though... Which he absolutely does not have even a lick of in the movie lmao.
I didn’t get the impression that Alex had an accent in the book. Then again, I’ve only read it 1.8 times. 😄 Good reason to read it again.

@@gailoverholt6498 Alex's slight Southern drawl is mentioned a couple of times. I listened to the audio book like a week ago. It's also mentioned in Henry's POV chapter, if I recall correctly. So yeah.... He is supposed to have a slight southern accent... Though not as thick as some of the other characters... I'm pretty sure Liam has a thicker accent than Alex because Alex notes that he does have more of a southern accent when he speaks to Alex on the phone and in person at the end of the book... So yeah I thought that it was an interesting choice that they decided to get rid of his accent completely.... Maybe the actor just wasn't good at accentwork. Accentwork is very difficult. But it's pretty clear he does have one in the book.... Or at least enough of one that Henry can hear it and likes it. Lol

I have listened to the audiobook and I've seen the movie for at least 3 times, still, I love every second of it, I can't really explain why but do I even need to? The acting, the production... It's a great one. Makes you laugh and cry, feel it. It's kind of hard to find movies like that nowadays

lol i love this sitcom but it doesn't even touch a finger of CMBYN, the acting and cinematography is on another level on CMBYN.
the cinematography of CMBYN is absolutely incredible and on another level. HOWEVER, i believe the CHEMISTRY of alex and henry eats elio oliver's. like it's more of a mutual attraction than that slight power dynamic between elio and oliver. we stan nonetheless, but c'mon! this movie squared up with them a lil.
CMBYN is a gorgeous film with a completely different vibe. I love both these films equally for different reasons.
