Patrick thank you, I have recently retired from the military and 01 February 18 started working at a small business in California bringing home 6k a month after taxes plus still collecting checks from the USCG as well so I was able to save a decent amount of money. After 7 months at this job it went under. Now my wife (also ex-military) and I are picking up our 3 children and moving across the country without jobs and no safety net and looking to start our own business in Fitness in sunny Florida. Thank you for reaffirming what I have already suspected. In the service it was no problem for people to handle a Million dollar budget or be in charge of a asset that's worth a couple of Hundred of thousands of dollars. Yet in the civilian world no one wants to give you that shot cause you have no degree. Not realizing all the training and experience and moneys that the government has invested in you only to come out of the military and get a job that pays 65K a year. I want more. Keep the content coming, keep dropping those gems it is greatly appreciated.

I've been a student of your videos for the past 2 months and have sold 144 bottles of my own brand of coffee in this past month (that's all I ordered) from your motivation. I will make it my goal to learn, develop, and strengthen these skills in my 5 years of service. I will continue reading your book list, re-reading your book, and watching your videos, and In the next 15 years tell you about how I made a million dollars using what I've learned from you and others combined with my own drive and commitment.

The Navy has allowed me to do all the other stuff I’ve wanted to do. Hey Pat, great advice in general and also using the things you've learned from active duty to drive the millionaire mindset home. I recently just got out of the Army with 12 years, Honorable discharge, etc. and I can honestly say that I feel the chains that held me back from being in the military slowly coming off. Most of these shackles were mental blocks, tying the rank on your chest to the paycheck and your experience is a mental block and I am finally getting over it. Being deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and being shot at really makes you value life back home, not only that, but it makes you realize that you can achieve so much more from life. Survivng three combat tours, anything is possible. I apprecaite your time and effort giving kids who do not have a direction to join any branch of service to attain those skills, hard lessons, and values that flourish into something greater than themselves.

I joined the Army on September 02, 2020 graduating from HS at 17. 3rd youngest PFC in BCT but the most matured and responsible one because I can handle the training thanks to JROTC and my mom. I wish future soldiers have these same mindset but the other trainees I was with, oh how I wonder why they graduated BCT.. I. Just turned 18 and I’m finally old enough to open my own accounts without parents so now I want to focus on my financial status while in AIT. Thank you RUclips and channels like you giving advices! I retired from the service in 2012. I also had some behavioral issues when I first started out. Was also told that I would be better off going home. Military not for everyone. The entire spill. Well I almost listened. A week or so later after having this painful conversation with my squad leader I received orders to Panama. Panama was my saving grace. Loved it. Met my wife there. Been married for 23 years now. My wife was a valuable source of support for the rest of my time in the military. Fortunately i did not listen to my squad leader and stuck it out. Retired after 20 years as a MSgt. I may have hated it at first but i have to admit that the military certainly helped make me into the person I am today.

Great insights brother! I discovered long ago that I do perform better under pressure, just as I do better when I play a 3 minute chess game. Brother, although your insights are hitting all the right targets, it behooves your audience to know that personal belief, counts for 50% of what ever we're trying to accomplish in LIFE!... To believe in oneself is beyond paramount, is actually the SECOND most difficult thing for any of us to achieve. And the MOST difficult one is to FORGIVE oneself! The THIRD one is related to the SECOND one, which is to take MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF ACTION on what we believe!!!!!

Excellent! Thank you so much for this! I was a Cadet 1st Sgt. in USMCJROTC (nothing really) and a Devilpup, and now a small brick and mortar business owner. Many of those leadership traits I learned in high school still echo in my head. This is very helpful. Currently in survival mode running a small gym with my brother 60+hrs a week each. We have a lot of the line, but this right here helps me deal with the stress. You are the man. Thanks for the motivation!

Loved this video. I joined Navy in 1974 (ranked 450 of 451 graduates) right out of high school (familiar family background). Military, even in peace time, was great decision in my life. Between military & my later nursing career I have been able to add all the mentioned traits to my life's tool box. At 62, I still mess up & forget or ignore one or more & it always causes trouble. Even playing craps as I like to do, requires the bulk of the traits to be successful. Thanks for sharing

Hi Pat, thanks for the video and I totally agree. Parents should support their children's dreams, but I'm talking about today's generation "Milleniuals" who have no work ethic, do not respect people of authority, dishonor their parents, they basically want everything handed to them and if things don't go right with them, they become victims and blame everyone else for their problems. I believe all teenagers should spend 4-years of high school in the military and after graduation live in a third world country for 2 years...... and maybe, just maybe they will become grateful and appreciative for their family. Just my 2 cents! Pat, I love your videos. Keep up the great work. You are a role model.

    • @hspurr5922
      @hspurr5922 6 лет назад +3

As a "Millenial" who is watching this video, working 2 jobs and building my own business, please do not tar the lazy and unmotivated with the young.
The young may seem like we have achieved less for the simple fact that we have had fewer years to rack up skills and accomplishments; the young may seem to disrespect and dishonour more because we have not yet learnt to keep our thoughts to ourselves like those with more life experience.
My problems are mine, my mistakes are mine. I did them, I own them, I learn from them - by saying we hand them off to others and blame others takes away the lessons I learnt and the person I am because of them.
Both young and old have lazy people, inconsiderate people.
If you want young people to have a role model and not blame other groups, maybe set an example and not whinge about people in a different group to yourself.
I appreciate your experience, you have much more than I. I am not as old, that is not under my control, but do not belittle the efforts of a whole generation based on a couple of entitled kids.
I hope you feel more appreciated and honoured by your family; I write this with respect.

Why should we go outside the home in order to teach and make our kids do right. American Public school have failed us. Do you really have to go to the Military to learn discipline, commitment, how to handle stress, setting and accomplising goals? We are intelligent enough to know how to do this and if not gain skills on how too.
Technology has affected and changed not only the way we communicate but also the way we act, behave and live, this phenomenon transcends across ALL generations.
Change starts with the person, in the mirror.
Young people are doing what we were doing when we were young. No?
In closing, our families are strong enough, smart enough , proud to handle our own. Arent we?

From watching this. I have to re-evaluate my thinking again. For me I am an Army veteran. I was a former 11 Bravo Infantryman and a Paratrooper. I also served in combat in Panama 1989-90 and did 2 combat tours in Iraq during 2006-2008. I have jumped out of airplanes and put myself in many dangerous shit that other people would never do. Military service really taught me the fear factor of what I really can do. I have been a follower and I was a Squad/Platoon Sergeant in combat. The reason I am saying this is I lost big time in 2013 when all my investments went down the tubes. I became an active online investor when I was in Iraq in 2007 just to keep my mind away from getting killed on any mission I did and survived either from IEDs, ambushes, or combat patrols. I just found your video by accident. I am going to re-evaluate my situation because I really fucked up. Like combat and the financial world or business. Hesitation will kill you or wound you bad. You are right. I have to look back to how I did things when I was that Airborne Infantry Soldier once upon a time. I will keep you in mind.
