    Thanks Kim for this great video. I have to agree about not liking my bra showing. It’s called underwear for a reason. I’m also a fan of facings rather than bias binding. I feel it gives the garment a bit more stability. I think I’m going to watch the whole video again. Love from Australia. 🦘🐨✂️

    Just came across you video. Yes I just subscribed. I am a full figure woman and want to learn more about sewing. It just can't get the fabric right on for the pattern. When I go to buy fabric by the yard. I look on the table but it doesn't always say what it is. But I like the feel of it and the color or print.

    Hi Kim, can you do a video like this but for all woven patterns? Even better if for beginners! I have been sewing for a little over one year and have made bags or aprons with cotton. I have no experience with knits and so I think woven would make me more comfortable in trying a garment. Thank you!

    i love that webster on you! and I love the one before that with the seam down the middle...oh I also love the Cadence because you talk about the burrito method...I also would rather have a facing vs a bias binding. thanks for putting this together, i need tank tops

  • @heidefries1825
    @heidefries1825 3 года назад

    This is a great overview! It's so helpful to know what you look for, things to consider and to not lose site of woven fabrics (so much focus on knits). I've been happily distracted with incredible weather and getting caught-up on yard work. It'll be HOT soon enough and I'll retreat to the air conditioning and get back to my sewing projects. As always, thanks ... and enjoy the summer! 💕

    I usually treat bias binding like a facing. Stitch and turn. I serge the raw edge.

    • @dale3404
      @dale3404 3 года назад +1

      I detest facings, and prefer bias facings. I have cut facings, but make them narrow and serge the edges. This is like the child of a regular facing and a bias facing!

    Thanks for this list, Kim! I’ve only made the Sorbetto, and now that you’ve explained about their curvy patterns, I’ll go back and try it again - thanks! I’m with you on the bias binding, so often just make my own facings. I really like your “traded” fabric. There’s a neckline in the Cadence pattern that I really like, so will give that a second look!

  • @ToriLynnH

    Sorbeto.
    If I do a tiny facing and double top stitch, i don't have to make bias binding.
    Bias binding is bulky and cumbersome.

  • @Lpsb232

    Great video. I want to try the Cadence. I love your comments on the facing and can’t wait to try it. I have one question. Do you think it would be possible to do French side seams? Thanks again.

  • @PRHomeScents
    @PRHomeScents 3 года назад

    I don't like bias binding either. Too tedious. I like the stability of the facing. Tends to look better, I think.

  • @denisedorsey2889
    @denisedorsey2889 3 года назад

    Great collection. The Sorbetto was my first ever make. Now I know why I had such fit issues- I’m a B cup and it’s drafted for a C. My sewing has improved over the past year so I may give it another go. I also prefer facings over bias binding. Is it possible to draft facings for a pattern that calls for bias binding? I imagine you could use the pattern as your template. Please let me know if I am not thinking about this correctly.

    Thank you Kim for this great review! A question - I have the Webster pattern but haven’t made it yet because I’m a size or two smaller than the smallest size - have you made a video that you can direct me to for grading smaller? Again, thank you! 🙏🏼

    Thanks! This video is what I needed to see! I have been trying to decide between the Cadence and the Harmony. The Cadence looks boxy and the neckline looks lower and sloppy on many people, but it looks really flattering on you. I too would rather do a facing. One question, did you raise the neckline on the white Cadence that you made?

    Hello Kim I am a novice quilter and sew with mostly cotton.. i would love to make my own tank tops and really like the one you're wearing... I definitely do not like clingy...would any of these patterns work with 100% cotton? i have soo much fabric.. what type of thread do you use for rayon
    Thank You

    • @dorothysdaughtersews
      @dorothysdaughtersews  2 года назад

      Yes, you can use cotton for most of them. It’s nice and cool in the summer too. I use polyester thread all the time so that the thread doesn’t shrink

      Absolutely! It’s very simple to do. When I evaluate patterns, though, I evaluate them as is ;-)
