I do love your "top 5 patterns" videos, Sally! I love making woven tops, and the ability to hack them into dresses, change the sleeves, collars etc. means you can really get a lot of "bang for your buck". The Patina blouse you're wearing is particularly awesome 😍 I have a Butterick blouse pattern that I come back to again and again - the number escapes me at the moment I'm afraid - which I recently hacked into a dress, and it worked brilliantly. I think hacking/mashing up patterns is great fun and it means you don't have to keep buying new patterns to get fresh looks. Thanks for making this video.
Thank you so much for watching! Yes I totally agree, a lot of patterns have similar parts that can be changed and adapted don't they and it's fun to try. I'm glad you like my Patina blouse and thank you for sharing your favourite too x
Hi Sally I don’t have a frill pattern but still think I will give it a go thanks for your reply and I love the blouse you are wearing the colours really suit you and it’s beautifully made.
Good luck I’m sure it’ll be fine frill patterns are usually a semi circle so should be easy to draft something:) Thank you I do love the fabric in this Patina x
Hi Sally thanks for the information about the Ebun T I would never have known if you had not mentioned it. I like to have more choice than the usual. Have a great Easter.
I love your makes. It's great to know you can cut the collar of the first blouse higher.I have been looking at the pattern but the neckline was too low for me.I know I could have altered it but it"s much better when it's done for you.
Hi Maureen - yes there are two necklines, I don’t like anything too low and it’s fine for me. It’s always a pain to have to alter things isn’t it! Thank you for watching xx
My newest favorite top pattern is the Paddington. I love it! It looks good on most and isn’t all that difficult. I use a lot of Big 4 and tend to not make things twice but Paddington and Ogden I have.
Ooh I’ve not heard of that one thank you for bringing it to my attention. I’m the opposite now and rarely use Big 4 but I need to give more of those patterns a try. Thanks for watching xx
Fabulous! I absolutely loved watching you. I really didn’t know the Sudley dress had a collar on it. I saw you on Instagram , I’m so glad. I’m going to get my pattern out and check it out again! Thankyou so much Sally. I’ve subscribed, I’ll look forward to watching your other videos. 😘😊
Sally The top you are wearing w the collar is precious. Good job pairing it up w the fabric most stylish! Please, the cami you did the button down. Can you do a tutorial? I love it and need a few. Big bosom and a few button camis would help make things more modest. Think about a microphone as you have a shallow voice and my hearing aid only picks up half of what you say. Try singing or screaming a few minutes before to warm up your voice to have more volume an pitch. Your sewing is amazing. I appreciate how you share your makes a us. Keep up the good work young lady.
Thanks so much! I have a sew-along on the button down cami it’s listed in the description of this video that might help :) I do use a microphone I’m sorry if you still find the sound shallow, thank you for watching and for your kind comments xx
Hi Susan. I actually think I used the frill from the Sew Over It ultimate shift dress pattern that has a frill in it. Have you got a pattern that you could steal a similar frill from? X
I really enjoyed watching this vlog and would be keen to see your top 5 jersey top patterns too. Your Patina blouse is beautiful - think that I need to get that pattern x
Hi Sally. I’ve not heard of the Ebun top so thanks for that recommendation. I’ve had the Sudley for ages but not got round to making it yet. I’ve got 3 sagebrush tops which I love and countless Ogdens! I’m about to make 3 new to me tops - The Phoenix blouse by Hey June, and the Itch to Stitch Galicia and Azores blouses. I’ve also got the Patina blouse in my list of things to make! Would love to hear your top 5 knit patterns. Happy Easter, Diana
Hi Diana thank you for watching I hope you enjoy the Ebun if you make it. I definitely need to try a ‘proper’ Sagebrush I think. I’ll add the knit tops video to my list x
Thanks for sharing your top tips for woven tops! Your makes are always so nice and wellmade and I love the light and style you phothograf them in! Really inspirational ❤️ My go to pattern for woven tops (and tunics) is the Esme from the book ”Everyday Style” of Lotta Jansdotter. Such a ”hackable” pattern just as you mentioned for several of your picks.
Great video Sally. I have bought the Patina and am looking forward to sewing it up some time this year! A couple of my favourite tops are the Closet Core Cielo and the Helen’s Closet Ashton top, maybe because I loved the cropped style. Oh and the Anthea blouse for its incredible sleeves - I’ve made 4 of those! ☺️😄
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy making your Patina blouse too. I love the look of the Anthea Blouse I've seen so many lovely versions maybe I'll have to try that one sometime :) x
Hi Sally, a great five patterns. I adore your Patina. I followed the tutorial that Cath from Made by Cath Craft wrote to reduce the fullfullness of the Sagebrush sleeves, it worked really well.
Thank you so much! Yes I have seen Cath’s Sagebrush it’s lovely 😊 I may try that but there’s also something in me that won’t be satisfied until I’ve made the full size sleeves at least once haha x
I'm new so I don't have patterns to go back to, but I'd love to know what you think of the Fibre Mood Norma. I've been looking at that because I'm not keen on wearing collars 😀 I enjoyed the video - it's really helpful to hear how patterns can be used for hacks or using parts with other patterns.
I’ve not made the ‘full’ Norma blouse I’ve just stolen the sleeves but I can tell it’s a fairly simple pattern as blouses go. You usually have to add seam allowance to Fibre Mood patterns that can be a little annoying but I do love their styles xx
A lovely selection of tops! Sadly Sew Explicit's website is down and she hasn't been posting on Instagram for almost a year so it looks like the Ebun tee will be difficult to get hold of for the time being. It's a shame as it's such a great design!
Keep up the good work! Your pieces are beautiful. Thankyou for sharing with us. May Jehovah bless you and your family abundantly with joy and peace.
Thank you so much for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed the video :) x
The variations for each pattern are truly helpful. Thanks for your comprehensive explanations.
I’m glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching xx
Love the look of the Ebun top, it would show off a lovely fabric as its such a simple shape!
It's great isn't it, I'm glad you like it :) Thanks for watching xx

Hi Sally some great ideas for hacking patterns.I love the Ogden Cami would love to add the frill how did you work the out how much fabric to use.

I just discovered your channel and happily subscribed! Love your top 5 patterns. I have the Patina blouse and it’s on my to do list for this Spring.
Thank you so much for subscribing I’m sure you’ll love making the Patina Blouse it’s a really interesting sew xz

Thanks for this! Is the neck on the Patina blouse you're wearing the standard neckline, or did you modify it to be less deep? Thank you!
Thank you for watching! It’s the standard neckline, you can make it lower if you prefer x
Thank you
Thank you for watching xx
A lovely selection of tops! Sadly Sew Explicit's website is down and she hasn't been posting on Instagram for almost a year so it looks like the Ebun tee will be difficult to get hold of for the time being. It's a shame as it's such a great design!
Try this link it should still be available on Makerist www.makerist.com/patterns/beginner-friendly-kimono-tee-pdf-sewing-pattern xx
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress thank you so much!
Re Ogden they now do it in a larger sizing 14-30 😊
Ah thank you for letting me know that’s helpful 😊 xx
@@SecretLifeOfASeamstress no probs it’s hard to keep track of all the updates isn’t it 😊
I have not found any decent bias tape here in US. Very very stiff. I don't always want to make it.
A lot of it is like that here which is why o prefer to make my own. Atelier Brunette do some lovely ones but they are a bit pricey 😊 x
👏🏻👗
Thank you x
Patina blouse website is not working anymore :(
If you do a google search it should come up on the FPC website? X
The Ebun T does not appear to be available for download

Thanks so much that worked.
