Morning Kim, thanks so much for the video, it’s a great resource. While I was still working 2015 I ordered the knit fix from Girl Charlie. I loved it, it pushes you out of your comfort zone, the different types of knits and prints. I did it for four months and built a good knit stash, as I knew when I went retired I wouldn’t have much disposable money. The shipping kills me now. I ordered Sue’s pick from Fabric Mart May 18/20 $2.99 a yard I bought 3 yards. With the exchange rate shipping alone was $25.68. Not good on a fixed income. Oh well, once the boarders are open I will go to one of those mailbox depots then I’d be able to get free shipping. Also a day out with hubby. Win win. Have a great safe happy day. Val🇨🇦🇬🇧❤️

I use Vibes and Scribes in Cork, Ireland and Grandmother's Garden in New Zealand. Both have reasonable (affordable) international shipping costs - also Mauds Fabrics, Australia (I think). Most online USA stores have international shipping costs which are ridiculous. Last one I was looking at buying from was charging $35 for the fabric and $150 for shipping to Ireland, over three times the shipping costs from the other side of the world in New Zealand. I chose to buy from both New Zealand and locally in Cork - free shipping.

Well, you should get referral points from Girl Charlee - think I have placed 3 orders! I do have questions about certain new fabrics - double brushed poly? what on earth is it like? Isn't poly hot? I see all sorts of poly spandex but have stayed away from that because of my memory of old time polyester. I also don't really know what scuba fabric is - I've heard it referred to a neoprene? Liverpool bullet - how heavy is this - top or bottom weight? I was watching Karina from Lifting Pins and Needles - she uses recycled items for the fabric. As does Jayne from Loopy Mabel - well, my Goodwill opened up and had dresses for $5 - I looked for all the big ones in colors I liked and got a few in cotton spandex! I did get one lovely dress in poly spandex because I loved the fabric. I will be making tops or knickers from these. I am also leery of crepe or chiffon - too hot? Or you need to wear a cami underneath. I am always warm in the summer. Looking like I just finished doing manual labor is not an attractive look. I also ordered the fold over elastic from your places following that video. I appreciate your videos so much - getting back into sewing after quite a break (over a decade) makes life interesting. Thank you for all this information and encouragement.

What a fun (and educational) vlog today, Kim! Thanks for the information! My number one issue with online fabric shopping is COLOR/HUE. I've order from many different online sources and rarely is the fabric color (or depth of color; hue) what I'm seeing on my laptop screen. I do a lot of sample ordering these days. That being said, I still love the idea of having all these wonderful fabric sources at our fingertips. Maybe, after this Pandemic is over, a few new brick and mortar stores will pop up around our country! Being just an hour away from Chicago has me spoiled! You asked for any suggestions not covered. I have two: Blackbird Fabrics (a wonderful shop out of Vancouver, BC - www.blackbirdfabrics.com) and Minerva Crafts (www.minervacrafts.com). Lastly, I am over the moon in love with the top you are wearing! That floral and stripe combination you put together is awesome! ❤

My channel was named after my late mom, Dorothy. She is in Heaven, so I’m sure she is fine ❤️

No to Girl Charlie. I was told their French Terry was thick enough to do something with. Nope, four yards wasted. Quality of other fabrics is not good. If you want to make ugly underwear, maybe.

There are different weights to French Terry. Some are for lightweight and some are medium weight. Look at the weight, which is usually listed on the left of the screen with each fabric. I’ve gotten super thick French Terry and also lightweight.

Love LaFinch Fabrics. Was disappointed recently by Girl Charles order, their colors and my color calibration on my computer. Not sure what happened, but I ordered a lot of fabric thinking they matched. They didn’t. So if you are wanting to match something up, ask them, they are very good at customer service.

Agreed their pictures are horrible. Looks like a cartoon photo instead of the real thing
