    one of my first proyects when crafter is realese, is a furnance based on bamboo fuel converted into slab

      Feed this into kelp for max efficiency!

  • @anomnomnomynous

    You can't really multiply the results like that because the other fuels are still fuels that could have been used for other things, and the kelp still needs to be grown.
    The kelp is self sufficient for fuel once it gets started. Dripstone lava farms are also self sufficient, so are trees, or bamboo.
    I feel like to really calculate efficiency you'd have to combine growth rates with the fuel efficiency.
    Then you end up with factors like the farm design, resources needed to automate, any manual interactions required, space required etc...
    Autocrafter will be really nice for automating things like the kelp and bamboo farms.

      I deliberately limited the scope to just fuel efficiency. Many factors will go to into any farm, and I find many people have a preference. I prefer blaze rods. Easy setup with a spawner, and I get some levels as well.
      The main drawback to a self sustaining kelp farm is the 45% kelp cost to replace what is being used to smelt the itself. That is a significant loss to either bonemeal rates, or to area size in any kelp farm.
      That 45% loss can be easily mitigated with slabs. 37 logs will produce enough slabs to smelt 450 kelp and save you 368 kelp that would otherwise be wasted in the self fueling area.
      All this can be avoided with campfires. Not everyone's first choice, but for smaller farms ir might be an effective option.

      Yeah, campfires are infinitely efficient, just have to deal with the limitations. Too bad you can't use a dispenser to place the stuff on the bonfire, though guess that would be too OP lol.

      @@anomnomnomynousMy previous video was about overcoming those limitations. 72 campfires will smelt 9 stacks of kelp a minute.

      If you want the most bang for your buck, kelp blocks are the ultimate fuel enhancer.

    • @oldrusty8157
      @oldrusty8157  7 месяцев назад +2

      So planks have the exact same smelting power as slabs, for some reason. I did forget about bamboo and sticks though.
      The same 2.2 amplification rate will still apply to those.

    • @Akira-Aerins
      @Akira-Aerins 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@oldrusty8157 planks and slabs being the same must be a bedrock thing, but I mainly use 2 planks when I have 3 of a thing to smelt, sticks/bamboo/misc for 2 or less (or to fill in the rest of the cook time from planks or a smelt of like 9 or 10 things, for example)

    • @oldrusty8157
      @oldrusty8157  7 месяцев назад +2

      @Akira-Aerins It is a bedrock thing for some reason. Slabs besides, rhe rest of the information is still applicable. Kelp will have the same multiplying effect in Java. I'd go with coal blocks in that case though.

    • @Akira-Aerins
      @Akira-Aerins 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@oldrusty8157 Just checked, Java seems to have slabs cook .8 items. this makes them only efficient for cooking four of a thing using five slabs (but inefficient at any other number)

    Zero tick farms are wondering what "kelp can be difficult to get en masse" means lmao. Very interesting video though. Please accept my humble like and comment for your efforts, and have a wonderful day (or night)

    • @oldrusty8157
      @oldrusty8157  7 месяцев назад

      Zero tick is incredibly buggy. I can't leave my farm for 10 minutes without some of the kelp breaking. I usually just use a bonemeal dispenser. I get my bonemeal from skeleton farms.
