Nice!! Natchez, Ms. Here... I Boil em just about the same way, except I use fresh lemons slices and whole cloves of garlic...Also as soon as I kill my cooker for the soak, I drop about 1small sack of ice in on top of em to kindof shock em and make em drop to the bottom quicker and I let mine cook one and a hald hours and soak 2-3. Great vid. Thanks! Actually cookin 30 lbs of early harvest green peanuts now!!
I'm a Texan & I just love the way you made your video! It's always good to here people who still know the importance of haven't a sittin' chair & some cold beer. Also, thanks for takin' the extra step to tell us how to store 'em. Good job!
You've got enough seasonings for twice as many peanuts, they will be just as hot tasting as yours. The big secret is boiling...cooling off completely.....boiling again......cooling off completely......boiling again......and soaking like your doing. Thanks for a great video !!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO!!! Just what I was looking for. Gonna boil up a mess of 'em this weekend in Tuscaloosa, Al. Looking forward to the Cajun style like you did here. Thanks again.
I absolutely love everything about this video. I’m a southerner living in iowa and missing food from home. Lots of things in this video that remind me of home ❤️ I’ll be making my first batch today with your recipe!
Ok, thanks for the info on the best time to find them, I was brought up eating boiled peanuts, but it wasn't until the 80's when my sons where in baseball, that I ate my first cajun boiled peanut, and I've been hooked every since :)
Thank you for watching, I bought that bag of green peanuts on Sunday 10-7-12 at a local fruit stand near Jackson,MS were my Mother in law lives. We boil peanuts at our house every Oct.6-7 and have been doing it for the past 3yrs that seems to be when the big peanuts or Goobers are in season as some folks call them round here.
We love our boiled peanuts...Lots of my family love the Cajun seasoned..I love just the salted. Yum Yum Yummy!! I love how you showed the ratio of water and seasoning. Learn something everyday here on RUclips!! Thank You!!!!!!!
Thanks for the video, Joe. I stopped off at a Farmer's market south of Jackson, MS yesterday & picked up a 1/2 sack of p-nuts that'll get boiled up today. Appreciate the recipe & cooking times!
Thank you for doing this video... I grew up eating boiled peanuts and now that I'm all 'grow-ed' I like the Cajun ones... it is impossible to find green peanuts in the city even though I am in the south... so I make an annual trip to the woods to find my peanuts and now I will be cooking my very own... 👅love that heat!!!
Yliyah Hawkins Thank you please do try them, If you want to do a smaller version checkout "SmokyRibs" channel and Rus scales my recipe down, tell him I sent ya
Hi, very impressive, and thank you so much for sharing. But wow you Texans like to go big! I second your comment about solving the world's problems with a sittin' chair and drinking an ice cold beer - that's what makes this video unique, a bit of the Texas culture, learn to make Texas style peanuts and then some. And nothing comes close to the satisfaction of cooking outdoors when you've got a cold one in your hand. Well done from the land of Australia!
Hey Joe, enjoyed your boiled peanut recipe. Great how to video. Rus uses the rocket pot, you have the seafood boiler. Both work great. I use a 16 quart pressure cooker and add old bay and Tony chatterie cajun spice. The cook done under pressure in 25 min. Then let pressure die down on it's own, and let peanuts sit in the seasoned water for couple hours and soak up the salt and seasoning. Guaranteed to work. Freeze in quart bags. Warm up in hot water from faucet. Of course these are peanuts freah green peanuts out the garden dirt, not ones off season been dehydrated. Those take forever to get done. Need to soak those overnight and get the water back into them. There is a difference.
Thanks so much for sharing this Joe! I favorited this video, because you are giving explicit directions on the proper amount of seasoning to use, and taking the guess work out of it, and I will be back to watch this again when I have a peanut boil. I've got to know where you are buying the bagged green peanuts at? I seen green peanuts at Wal-Mart about a month ago, but wasn't to sure about buying them there, lol Are they still in season, or am I too late? I love cajun boiled peanuts!!!!
I’ve boiled a lot of peanuts in my life but I usually just do salt and a tiny bit of vinegar. I came to this video to see what Cajun spices you use.... I’m boiling a 4lb batch right now and I got my cooler full of beer and my lawn chair I think that’s the most important part!
I got some boiled peanuts here in Tennessee at some gas station they were mushy and dry and Taste down right nasty but never tried Cajun style I'd like it spicy I'd put in some habanero peppers or but jolokia
Awesome video man..I was actually eating a can of the allens cajun peanuts while watching this video they are pretty good..I will have to try making my own sometime..Cheers
Dude! Great video. I made some boiled peanuts today loosely following your recipe. Some of the nuts ended up soggy almost like a boiled green beans - but I simmered mine for a long time instead of letting them sit. Still awesome. My secret ingredient is chicken stock cubes.. that gives a.lil msg to punch you in the tongue. Cool video.
Downair ! How's Mama and nem? I love it and God bless Dixie ! I am Southern to the core. thanks for the video and instructions. I am boiling some now for the debate.
Joe, great video, clear, concise, interesting. You choice of spices sounds delicious! Can't wait to try your recipe. I found your video at Boiled Peanut World. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
My new favorite recipe!!!! I used this to boil up 40 pounds of peanuts last weekend! Way better than my usual recipe, thought it might be too much cayenne but its not, I used swampfire instead of slap ya mama but everything else was the same! Thanks for this! Next year I'll add something to it so I can tell folks it's my recipe, J/K. But seriously this recipe is legit! Thanks again!
I purchased them from our local farmers market, but i'm sure you can buy them online, just Google green peanuts for sale, but if you have to get dried one they will have to cook and soak much longer
Excellent video Joe. Thinking back I can not recall ever having boiled peanuts and those look pretty damn tasty. Now I need to find out where I can get a huge sack of them like the one you had. Oh yeah, great idea with the lawn chair and beer cooler!
Just got back from down south, and yep them Boiled Peanuts Rock!! Might just start a stand up north. Just curious can the peanuts by dried and in the hull or do they need to be green? Thanks a lot for the video, your recipe looks really tasty..
this was very helpful thank you. i wondered if oil was added, that was the big mystery to me. i guess not. its just the sogginess of the fresh boiled peanuts and the oilyness of the peanut itself that had me wondering. thx again.
Hahahaaa! I like the part where you sit down next to the cooler, drink beer, and watch the pot boil. I've had boiled peanuts, but never done it myself. Quite a project, but I know the results are worth it.
If I were to order the green peanuts from the Amazon link above today, how long will they stay good before we boil them? I want to give the green peanuts as a gift to someone for Christmas (they will then boil them for us over the holiday). Thanks in advance!!
I boil mine with chicken stock, red peper flakes, salt, garlic and Slap ya Momma!!! I bet the herb combination gives it a nice taste! Where did you get that paddle from?
You can boil just a couple of pounds of peanuts for about $10 depends on the price of nuts per pound and seasonings ect. The boil I did in the video was with 40lbs of nuts and coast me about $100 including the $35 I paid for a full refill of propane
Thank you, by the way I have a couple of oyster vids on here, search my channel and check them out, We love our oysters all year around here in Mississippi

I purchased them from our local farmers market, but i'm sure you can buy them online, just Google green peanuts for sale, but if you have to get dried one they will have to cook and soak much longer

A sitting chair, not to be confused with a standing chair. Also just FYI you need ink pens for most things. Because Blood pens are hard to find.
