I'm 66 years young, and Must try your delicious peanuts
Hey Rus you showed this process so well! I love Cajun Boiled Peanuts. Those road side stands always get me to stop. Great video Bud and that cooker was excellent for these! Cheers with a cold one!👍
Thanks for checking it out Rob! We look forward to getting green peanuts every year so I can boil them up. Cheers!
Looks delicious. Cant get them where i live. Gonna have to start making them.
These get better every time! I love this time of the year.
Did you bring a bag into work?
omg i love boiled peanuts! we moved too far away from the one place that had green peanuts so i could make them myself without too much salt. i made them in my pressure cooker and it was so fast!
Yeah we do too. I was raised on them. I've used the pressure cooker on smaller batches. Works pretty good, but I've got my boiling method down to a science so that is usually how I do them. Thanks for watching Gail!
Great video Rus, I haven't made boiled peanuts in a long time. You are right about the fresh green ones, now I need to see if I can find them here.
Thanks Tom! We try to do them every year at this time. I normally don't shoot a video on it, but it's been years since I've done a video on boiled peanuts so figured I would this year.
Green peanuts , living in the western NC mountains I've actually raised a few,got the seed from coastal fishing trips and your right I was eating them right outta the ground, best peanut I've ever ate, gotta try this!!!
Still kicking ass! I've been trying to find a good boiled peanut recipe and this one is definitely the one I wanna make! Thanks for all the videos as usual! Keep it up and I wish you all the best!
I never had those before. The peanuts look great. Cheers, Rus! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Hope you can try them one day Dwayne. Cheers!
Awesome Rus. I’ve always wanted to try boiled peanuts 🥜
Thanks, hope you give em a try sometime
Lots of good info Rus. Something I’d love to try.
Thanks for checking it out Tommy!
too funny (to me) . West coast Canadian here, had a "bucket list" trip and when in North Carolina (mid April ) bought boiled peanuts. Taste was good, but I didn't like there was no "texture" to the nuts. .. and kinda messy to eat w/ all the wet shells etc. I told the ladies we Canucks boil eggs we don't boil peanuts. They thot that was pretty funny.
thx for the video. Brought back good memories.
Yeah, they are not for everyone, but most southerners were raised eating them and we sure do love em. Thanks for watching!
Love the video, and love boiled peanuts. Thank you
Howdy Rus. I remember seeing boiled peanuts at road side stands throughout the southeast while doing long haul. I meant to give them a try but never did. So maybe I'll give it a try. That said I've never seen fresh green peanuts anywhere up here in the "Great Pacific Northwest ". So I'll see what I need to do. One thought is maybe I'll grow some peanuts in my garden next year. I know folks who have grown some verity's up here and they did well. Anyway great video, have a great day 🌤 👍🍻🥜
Hello Victor! I'm not certain where all peanuts are grown but I know it has always been a big deal in the south east. Hope you get a chance to try them one day to see what you think. Thanks Victor!
Awesome rus I ran spay rig on row crops and then at harvest time I’d run peanut combine we’d have like 1,200 acres peanuts every year since the soil was really sandy id eat so many green peanuts I’d dang near throw up lol reminds me of the taste of raw chestnut’s cheers man 🍻🍻
That's a lot of peanuts! Thanks for watching Buzzed, I appreciate it! Cheers!
Awesome job, Rus! First time seeing this ! Nicely done and I definitely would crush some of those peanuts! Have a fantastic week! Cheers brother 🍻🍻
Thanks Bat! Cheers
Grew up in west Texas having never heard about boiled peanuts.
Moved to northern Alabama for a few years and found out about them. Loved them.
Always wondered how they were made. Have thought about trying it out a time or two. Glad I watched this video. I was going to try it with dried peanuts.
I just don’t know if they sell green peanuts in Oklahoma.
My attention began to waiver but then you said cold beer and boiled peanuts and my mind jumped right back into action😅
I boil green and raw peanuts in a crock pot every year. Raw peanuts cook better in a crock pot because you don't use tons of gas. This video reminded me to go pick up a bag from the farm.
We have done that as well as a pressure cooker but for bigger batches, I boil in a pot
Pressure cooker like Instant Pot does a great job though typically a smaller amount of peanuts.
Yes they do!
How does the amount of gas used make them cook “better”? Cheaper I can see, but what about the crock pot makes it “better”? A flavor you prefer? Cook faster? Different texture?
@@SmokyRibsBBQI'm not sure I can get green peanuts in East Texas but I can get raw. In an Insta Pot, how much time do you think for raw peanuts?
YES!
GREAT COOK RUS
Thanks, I appreciate you checking it out!
Never heard of them Rus - Not a lot of green peanuts up here in Canada as far as I know. - I'll bet they taste great. - Cheers!
It's a southern thing Garry. I wouldn't expect anyone in Canada to know about them. Thanks for checking the video out though, cheers!
Hey Rus. I can Say I have never Had boiled Peanuts. Would love to try these at some point. Maybe not to spicy. Thank you for Sharing Brother!!.🤔😝😛😛
These are spiced like we do crawfish. It's not super hot but a nice spicy flavor. Can't describe it really, but many people just do them in salted water.
I love boiled peanuts and thanks to this video, I will probably do my own. Also, that pot is so big. It should be called a cauldron ha ha
Yeah, it's really too big for only 10 pounds, but it can get to a rapid boil super fast and really saves time. I primarily use it on seafood but did great for peanuts as well.
When I first tried them I was like yuk goopy peanuts, then I tried them hot and spicey and fell in love lol
Wow!! I did 10lb of green peanuts! Saturday myself! Our Kroger has them first time I’ve seen green ones there.
Awesome
Boy, those look delicious, Rus! I think I'd like them spicy with a beer too!👍😋🍻
Thanks Kevin! One of our favorite southern delicacies that we look forward to every year! Pairs perfectly with beer cheers 🍻
I’ve tried it when a neighbor brought som back out here in Colorado. I like peanuts but that’s definitely an acquired taste I think you had to grow up with
Y'all have some serious crawfish up there in those cold CO mountain lakes. Go getcha a mess of those and boil them up along with the peanuts...got yourself a mountain cajun feast!
Maybe so. I’ve been eating them since I was a baby so I acquired the taste really young. It’s a southern thing for certain
Russ with my raw peanuts I just dump the peanuts in the water and let them float. After boiling for about an hour and half I turn the heat off and let the pot sit for about an hour or so. The peanuts will sink down into the water in that time. Then I turn the heat back on and boil till the are the texture I like. Then I let them sit in the brine maybe overnight so they will take in the salt. I suspect this will work similarly with green peanuts but I don’t know. I like mine cold out of the fridge. Thought I might be the only one 😊
Yeah this is a different method. You are doing the dry raw peanuts like I do red beans. Not needed with green peanuts. I will do raw peanuts when green peanuts are not available. Thanks for watching
Yep, boiled peanuts and cold beer 👍🍺🍺🍺🍺
I tried some years ago in NC. Had no flavor and tasted awful to me. Yours sounds really good wish i was to grab a hand full. Great info !!!
Bland peanuts definitely would not be very good, but when they are done right, they are awesome.
When I first moved down south, and everybody was like “you gotta try these peanuts”…. I was not the slightest bit turned on.
But since then, I have got some and I like them more now than I did then , still not convinced😂
But I made myself a promise that I am going to make some on my own, and then make a third judgment ! So thank you for sharing :)
Homemade with fresh green peanuts are much better than the roadside or convenience store peanuts that are normally made with raw (dried) peanuts and of course the recipe makes a difference as well
Even though I'm a Georgia native and my family down South are Peanut farmers I've never cared for boiled peanuts! I prefer them roasted (or "Parched" as Mom called them). Roasted in the shell and done until they're "almost burned", looking like coffee beans ...
Here in Mississippi we do them both ways and I like them both but I'm especially fond of spicy boiled. YUM!
@@SmokyRibsBBQ Just like I prefer fried okra over boiled okra! And I don't like the breaded fried okra either! Mom always cut up the okra and shook it in a bag of cornmeal, then got a cast iron skillet hot with Crisco shortening ... Crunchy and delicious. She passed in 2001 at 93 and NOW I have a fried okra craving! 😁
I only like okra in gumbo, and I make it first so it doesn't turn slimy and I cook it away. Only the flavor is in the gumbo. Wouldn't be real gumbo without it. My mom made fried okra all the time. I would eat it, but was not my favorite for sure.
Boiled peanuts for the win!
Well looks I'm gonna boil me peanuts ,great informative video
What do boiled peanuts have that makes them special? Never had them, it's hard to imagine anything other than raw or roasted.
They are a Southern delicacy and offer great flavor and texture either just salted or spicy boiled. Totally different experience than eating roasted even though I like those too.
@@SmokyRibsBBQ don't know if I can get green peanuts out here, I'd love to try them
What type of peanut that can be planted and what time of the year please reply back.
I’m not a peanut farmer. I would suggest researching it.
How many time take the peanut's for boiling
Did you watch the video?
Maravilha adorei
Thanks for watching
Russ loved this spicy boiled peanut spicy recipe! From an old sub!
Hey Glenn, thanks for stopping by and watching! I appreciate it and the long time support!
👍👍😃🔥🍺
If there was enough space to write it in here I'd tell you about the time I did em in the pressure cooker and released the before the pressure was absolutely on 0 psi! 😂
Uh oh! That don't sound good. I've done them a few times in a instant pot pressure cooker.
should of put the rods closer to the lid
No biggie, they turned out perfect without trying to hold them down. Just figured I would try it, but it's made for steaming laying on the rods and not trapped under them. If I put the rods above the level of the water then they were useless anyway.
***Allergy warning***:
This video made in a facility that processes peanuts.
Absolutely haha 😂
peanut plant eat dead bird meat thats why peanut is tasty sir
I didn't know a peanut plant had teeth haha 🤣
I use a pressure cooker to cook them "raw peanuts"
Takes half the time and the spices get in them good
I've used a instant pot on fresh and raw peanuts many times, but you are limited to how many pounds you can do at one time is the only drawback. Thanks for watching
