PLEASE help Chance get another MR2 after an F3 tornado used it as a battering ram and slammed it through a cinder block wall at the YMCA (every $ helps) gofund.me/209b592b
😄 definitely a C.
458🤤
just saw the tornado hoovie 🙏
Hi Mr. Hoovie, Gofundme organizer here! Thought I'd come by to say THANK YOU!! literally, for stepping in to help my friends and I get Chance a new car and promoting the effort! Words can't describe how happy our little group is for him and this miracle. We will always be extremely grateful for the kindness of you and everyone for all the help, whether it be through donations and or words of support. Honestly, we are still at a complete loss of words that this is actually happening, but I count it as an absolute blessing for all of us!
On the day of the tornado, Chance and I went out to eat with another friend and visited places right after. We got home almost two hours before the storm happened. I woke up to the tornado warning (I live close to the new Southeast HS building) and pretty much saw part of the storm. Because of the big meal we had earlier, Chance decided that he didn't want to miss leg day (as you can see, he loves the gym 🤣) and went. This part I didn't know of until Chance sent a video of the funnel forming in front of the YMCA and sent another message minutes later saying that the tornado just hit the facility. Finding out that his car was a total loss broke my heart lots knowing how much it meant to him. It's a relief to find out it didn't go too far, but even seeing the intense damage done to the MR2 still hurts (we were talking about how it likely fell through the roof given how it landed).
I still remember the day he got his MR2 for the first time. He was super excited and even went as far as to drive to each of our houses to surprise us with it. I was the friend who had the honor of being given the most rides in it and the friend who was the very last to ride in it. There was still so much more he wanted to do with the car, but now it's time to focus on the road to recovery. Chance has a lot of hope now that everyone is coming together just for him and is happier than ever! Once again, thank you SO MUCH!
I have had the pleasure of owing both a white 91 NA MR2 T-bar with a car phone... and a Spa Yellow 03 S2000...this completely wrecks my heart. I wish I still had that MR2....
I'm happy with your decision not to put the giveaway on camera. It lets the people receiving the truck keep their dignity. Not only do I like you but I respect you as well. Good job Tyler.
Could not agree more. I really loved and respected his decision too.

Nope. Hoovie encourages people not to have enough savings & insurance to cover themselves.

I would'nt call it exploiting someones misfortune for views, because the views are gotten from the charity and giving back, not the misfortune of the person. but I get what your saying.

Australia just recently legislated that manufacturers need to hand over key information so independent mechanics like the Wizard can repair cars without highway robbery costs dealers had been charging for their technical info.
we need that in the usa. these companies are setting up the vehicles with all sorts of digital alerts, reminders, and configurations that compel the owner to take the cars into the dealerships. its just a digital form of engineered obsolescence
Soooo... no more Tesla sales in Australia, huh? Elon doesn't like sharing
It's been that way in Europe for years.
Provided the vehicle is maintained in line with what the dealer would do and use the warranty is honoured.
EU is also hot on Right to repair! As a windscreen technician I was miffed when Hyundai/KIA told BOSCH, Hella Gutmann, Texa etc to GTFO about the codes for their newer ADAS systems.. Apparently there is a lawsuit going about this, and I heard just yesterday that Toyota/Lexus has done the same crappy anti-competition bs.. This means that only official services can calibrate their ADAS systems (as in LDW, auto headlights, LED matrix, obstacle id etc systems)

In 1967 we moved into the house we built in Andover. I inherited the house when my mother died and i owned it until 2019. On April 30 2022 that F3 tornado removed the entire roof, most of the front dining room, the entire garage and utility room. From all reports i have heard nobody died unlike the F5 from 1991.
i hope the family as safe in the very large basement.

I love how you did this off camera. Hoovie, you have made a life long fan here 🖖
I am a automotive locksmith and the way the industry is changing has definitely affected how many vehicles we have programming access to. The dealerships see their service department as a major source of income so every year they try and find new ways to lock the computers so only dealer tools work on them or in Chrysler's case they lock the CAN coms and you have to find a special connector to be able to intercept CAN communication. This might be the biggest fight capitalism and right to repair ever have.
Haven't owned a car in a while so I think I'm going to stick with a vintage vehicle next time.
@@themoviedealers it's your best bet at avoiding electronics just make sure parts are available because most manufacturers quit making any parts after awhile and then supply and demand take over and the parts get expensive.
part of my job is clearing codes on vehicles when they leave our shop. the joke is there’s never a dodge without a code on it. MOPAR is the absolute worst when it comes to self repairing anything. we frequently have to send rams to the dealer to have codes cleared
@@camreng9379 it depends on which model Chrysler it is but most 2017+ Chrysler's require a star connector to be plugged into the green star port to do anything other than very basic diagnostic work. If it's a Fiat car or a Fiat in disguise (Jeep Renagade) you have to access the RFH module above the headliner with a different kind of special cable. Thanks Stellantis for making Dodge's worse.

Random weird coincidence... While I was watching this, the instant he showed the Tornado footage, the Tornado alarms went off in my area. They do a test, every first Friday of the month at noon. Really weird timing!
Side note... I always wonder what would happen if we had a tornado in the area during that alarm test time. No one would think to worry lol. Then again, when my place got hit by one, they didn't even have alarms going....
For the last 15 years or so in Oklahoma if there is an elevated risk of tornadoes on the day the sirens are usually tested, they will not have the test in the middle of the day to avoid giving people a false warning. Doing it this way avoids the boy who cried wolf scenario where people hear the test, and then don't take the actual warning later in the day/evening seriously.
For now, there are NOAA Weather Radios that can do county-based alerts in case your cell network gets jammed. Eventually, there should be cheap enough ATSC 3.0 (aka NextGenTV) tuners which can receive embedded alerts for tornado warnings and whatever else you want, weather-wise. Such alerts would be geo-targeted down to the foot, and unlike NOAA Weather Radio, isn’t county-based. It uses the recent polygon warning system implemented by the NWS. So false alarms, especially at night, would be minimized.
Keep doing your great work Mr. Maniscalco. Thanks for brining light on a situation but not making it click bait-esque. Much respect my dude.
Hoovie, good for you with the Excursion giveaway and helping that poor dude with the MR2! Your channel is not only entertaining and informative, your heart is definitely in the right place! Keep up the good work.

Much love from OKC. Working for an insurance company the past 23 years here in OKC and being on the frontlines after our fair share of horrific tornadoes (multiple F5's), you just cannot appreciate how much damage the tornadoes do to not just houses, but cars. in fact, it's almost more shocking how much damage they do to cars than they do the houses. It's amazing how a tornado can just pretzel a car like it was nothing and then throw them hundreds and sometimes, thousands of yards away. The Joplin tornado back in 2011 is the one that I'll never forget because they ended up bringing in all the trashed cars to the hospital lot and it was just piles and piles of twisted, unrecognizable vehicles.
Just as Moore has experienced and now Andover, you guys will get it all rebuilt again (wasn't it a F5 victim back in the early 90's IIRC) and be stronger than ever before. God bless.
