    I'd normally scoff at any self-promotion, especially when it comes to RUclips fitness videos, but the app you've shown looks pretty sick. I'm a data scientist and would be keen to know how it uses AI to build the workout templates - are you taking age, stress, etc.. as input features and predicting an ideal routine? what training data have you used?
    I'm on waiting list!

    • @SantosAl
      @SantosAl 2 года назад +4

      It would also be interesting if you were able to input what muscle was most stressed in an exercise, and then have the AI take that into consideration. And also include HRM/activity trackers to truly track your present state, especially since the app has a stress function, having the activity tracker make this function more modular would be quite interesting.

      Sounds very cool indeed! I was someone paying out £80 a month for a routine up until a few months ago when I decided I didnt wanna pay out anymore and preferred to just do my own workout.
      I found sticking religiously to a routine abit boring but also not optimal. There were many days my CNS felt hammered or a muscle group hadn't recovered properly and my coach would just say "get it done".
      This sounds far more flexible and fun. I hole its competitively priced and doesnt price out too much of the market.

    That first one is a really good point I hadn't thought about. I just assumed all muscles were equal. My chest is clearly lagging behind for some reason, even though I do one compound and one isolated exercise for it, and 5 sets per session (10 sets in total per week) like with most other muscle groups. So maybe it just needs a bit more volume.

    Machines taking away the stability buff allows you to lift more weight and with better hypertrophy leading to more size gains than just using free weights for them ‘stabilising’ muscle gains.
    similar to Delaney’s ‘make sure the targeted muscle is first to reach failure point’, machines helped,me do this do.
    (Thought throwing free weights around with zero mind muscle connection was how to get big for far too long)

    • @JoeDelaneyy
      @JoeDelaneyy  2 года назад +13

      For sure, I think sometimes machines are like isolations for the prime mover & synergist. I know that doesn't make sense, but what I mean is, they take away all of that stabilisation work you're talking about, so it's just the core action left. And if you think about the difference between what you can lift on machines vs free weights (although it's hard to calculate exactly), it goes to show how much that extra stabilisation can sometimes limit the overall lift. Obviously from an injury perspective you also want to train that stabilisation to some extent, so the conclusion yet again, as it is with so many things in lifting: do both.

    • @herculesbush4337
      @herculesbush4337 2 года назад +6

      Compound lifts are the best, and free weights are more compound then machines so really you get more bang for your buck with free weights. Muscles used for stabilisation are still muscles and contribute to strength.

    • @JoeDelaneyy
      @JoeDelaneyy  2 года назад +3

      That doesn't include warm-up sets. I would definitely do some of those though. Warm-ups are pretty specific to the person, muscle/exercise being trained and conditions (temperature in the gym etc). I usually do a couple of light sets of my first exercise (because the first tend to be a more complex compound), then subsequent exercises I might just get away with the one high rep warm-up set. I'm not personally into excessive warm-up routines.

      Probably not considerably since around 2015/16 ish (it was around 2015 when I started following programmes etc so that was what I referred to in my video as the second phase of making gains I went through). People are kind (or mistaken) and tell me I'm probably just at my natural limit. I think it's more just a case that I would need to bulk for longer than I'm prepared to in order to gain considerable size. I reckon I could gain another 10lbs of pure muscle if I was to literally just say fuck it and bulk for a few years... maybe 5 ha. It would be slow and not worth it for me...

      @@JoeDelaneyy I'm 35, and looking back I think I wasted too much time in the gym not achieving anything. I bounce between 170 and 180 too, and am either stronger but less lean @ 180 or lean, fitter and weaker and probably struggle to fill out a t-shirt at 170.
      If I was to talk to my post newby gains self at the age of about 23 I'd say don't waste so much time in the gym, realistically without the hot sauce you're not going to change noticably, the results after that aren't worth the effort! Always enjoyed your full natty realistic content though, keep it up 👍🏻

    Would it be better to divide your body into left and right side if you have a 2 days split?🤔 Much more equal tho😂

    Great video, today I learned my arm isn’t my leg, na I’m just kidding 😂, good points made and I will admit I have been making some of these mistakes. Hopefully not anymore !

    I think the biggest single mistake I made was not having a programme - I’ve now come to the end of your PPL programme and looking at possibly moving to the full body split.

      Full body split was the best decision I made. Amazing results. Il go twice a week some times 3.
