Just what I was after...looking into buying 3 monitors for just under the 200 pound mark each.
After watching your FOV vid ...i have been using iracing for 12 years and realised that a single screen just don't cut it. You can tell by that comment that I'd never put my screen dimensions into iracing!! Lol I did and I realised how much better and more realistic the grip levels feel with the correct FOV but impossible with a 46" single plasma which is 1300mm away from my eyes.
Really helpful your vids Dave 👌

This is all helpful stuff David, thank you. I would add that monitor selection can become a lot like the world of the golden eared audiophile. That is to say one can crunch all the numbers and stats they like to find the best of the best and then pay accordingly. But if the difference between a good monitor and the best can only be determined by computer analysis, then your spend has reached it's point of diminished returns.....you need to be completely honest with yourself and aviod the trap of confirmation bias, you need be able to actually 'see' the difference in the real world with your own eyes or your insistence that the emperor has new clothes just because you paid for them will cost you big time for nout....

Good video but noticed two inaccuracies:
    * Refresh rate DOES very much impact blurriness (together with response time). Google "persistence blur".
    * Gray-to-gray response time generally is not faster than black-to-white or white-to-black response time. And even the monitors that are advertised as having 0.5 ms actually have something like 2-6 ms in reallity.

Stay in 1080p that's for sure, so you can push for a good refresh rate. Other than that, it's up to you, just do as he did and you'll find what you need !

  • @oktc68

Many Freesync monitors are also Gsync compatible, but it's better to match up your GPU's output with the refresh rate of your monitor or cap your FPS (not forgetting to set to the correct Hz in Windows) If you don't have room for triples then an UWQHD curved monitor is way more immersive than 16:9 flatscreen. (In my experience, try before you buy if possible) I wouldn't recommend 4K unless you're rocking a 4090, and intend buying a top tier monitor, (OLED or Mini LED, personally I'd rather have a 2K OLED than a 4K LCD)

  • @nflisrigged1395

I get 186 fps in iracing
    on max settings
and my 21.9 aspect ratio monitor is 200hz refresh rate
I see it and it looks great!
So smooth it's almost looks slow motion ! Once you see it , you'll never go back to 60hz .
But yes a 144hz is fine
    Anything over 120hz
    You'll notice it smooth.

@@Sampsoid Thank you, could I bother you a bit more please? I just need your personal opinion on usefulness of "high punch HDR" in specific driving scenarios? Like when sun is bearing directly into eyes or bright lights areas during pitch night driving... Does powerfull punchy HDR help to make it easier or harder to see aspects important for competitive racing? Or is it a mute point? Or is there a middle ground/settings like 400, 600 hdr...? Or whatever🤓 Thanks

Hey David...posting this before I have looked at your vid here....
I want to find out what the best TV is for sim car racing on a PC for my computer desk. I have an Acer Predator 27" 2560x1440, IPS panel, model # XB271HU (EXCELLENT) monitor now which I love. But, I'm thinking I want something around 35" or so for the sim car racing.... time to do the research...I sit within about 2 feet away from the screen.
I also have a self-built very fast PC.... Asus Hero XI MB | Intel 9900k CPU | nVidia EVGA 2080ti-FTW3 | 16GB Corsair RAM | 850 Seasonic PS | 7 Noctua case fans | Phanteks Evolv case

A few corrections. gsync and freesync only work in 1 monitor setups. Period. It's a hard coded driver limitation. You really need to watch Battle(non)sense 's channel on youtube. There's simply nobody on this platform (youtube) that knows more, or has done more research on vsync, gsync, and input lag with regards to computer graphics than that guy.

    hey buddy
I'm at the decision point looking at 32" x 3 as my choice from the answers I've received on my previous query, but another obstacle has come up when I actually started looking for monitors....
where i live 32" 144hz IPS is just crazy expensive....
So i have 2 Options for my Triple Screen Sim Racing setup.....
    32" 1440p 75hz IPS vs 32" 1440p 144z VA
(both options above are priced very close)
Is the Black Smearing & Viewing Angles of VA panels a problem/issue for Sim Racing?
Should i go with 75hz IPS or 144hz VA....?
    Thanks

    Hi David,
    Very helpful video. Thank you.
I already have a very nice 31.5inch curved 2K MSI gaming monitor but I am thinking about going down the triple set up route. How important is it to have 3 identical monitors? I ask this question because the cost of 2 additional, identical, MSI monitors would be pushing on towards £1K (eeeep!) and I am looking for a more economical route.
Is it technically possible to run a set up that, for example, has monitors that run at different resolutions and/or refresh rates? My assumption is that it can be done but that the settings for all 3 screens would adopt the 'lowest common denominator'. Educate me please!
    Thank you

Awesome video sir! I have one question if I may, I would like to upgrade rig now, and I really like the size of 31.5 (32) but there is no pro-gaming option flat and only curved - is there any real reason why to chose only flat? i have been digging into the math around configuration with curved screens a bit a it looks like its possible to counted correctly based on physical measured width. ¨My only aim is to be really fast in iRacing, nothing else matter.

Coming from VR exclusive racing I'm now torn between triple 27" 1080, or triple 32" 1440. It basically boils down to 82 vs 91 ppi. The question I have and can't really answer is. Is it really that much better looking when my middle monitor would be about 50-55cm away (maybe a little further for the 32")?
The requirements to drive triple 1440p would make even my 2080 cry if I'm pushing for 60-100FPS I feel.

Don't discount a TV when it comes to picking a screen for single screen sim racing. Sim racers don't necessarily need the uber low latency that you want for first person shooters or fighting games. "Low enough" is enough. I sim race in front of a 55" 4K HDR TV which is right up against my wheelbase. It is very immersive for not too much money.
