    Learning is part of any sport process. That is why I really enjoy this channel as I am trying to learn to nose ride (key for longboarding). I don't want to just stay where I am at. As long as I am having fun in the process and not being hard on myself, don't see what the problem is. Not that I am trying to be a professional or anything, just better with more skills in my pocket HAHA

    Another great video.
    You don't see folks try heels over much. Maybe because toes over is difficult enough.
    If people are enjoying the surfing they do at their current skill level then that's fine for them.
    I don't go to the lengths you do to analyze my surfing. But Im always working to improve. Focussing on a particular move or maneuver is the way to go. "Just go surf" doesn't help me much.
    I'm 55 and think I still have some potential for improvement in me.

    Hehe… I get those comments a ton too… maybe it goes back to the mindset of surfers being a little bit opposed to structure and rules, free soul surfing rebel’s against the man🤪
    Surfers SURF… which I totally respect and get… but improvement takes practice and if you don’t have a goal to strive for then it’s easy to lose focus and as a result not improve. Great vlog buddy🤙🤙

  • @Mongiloyd
    @Mongiloyd Год назад +2

    I too like to analyse a lot of what I do. Here's my 2 cents! Noticed that as soon as you turned and put your heel over the nose the board steered out of the wave. Could be because your too much on the shoulder as the waves had little power and didnt require the amount of rail pressure. Great video! Btw are you still going for a comp? I recommend to have a focus on succession /finishing rates of certain moves. A topic for another time! Cheers!

    • @LongboardSessions
      @LongboardSessions  Год назад +1

      Thanks Tim! Yes you could be right, but I also stepped too close to the inside rail with that foot.. I think that was the main problem.
      I do plan on doing comps, but sadly I'm missing most of them this year! There are two I was planning on competing in and didn't realize theyre right into the middle of my vacation in virginia.

    Do you have any tips for surfing in the winter in jersey? I am at college now so can only surf during winter and summer break. I only have a 3-2 wetsuit but I have gloves a hood and booties. What thickness will I need for December?
    Also, love the reggae!

    • @LongboardSessions
      @LongboardSessions  Год назад

      You'll need a 5/4 with a hood, 7mm boots, 7mm gloves. That typically does the trick. You'll freeze in a 3/2 haha! Surfing winter is really fun, but make sure your warm before you head in the water. Run that car heat on high haha! And getting out is the worst

    • @LongboardSessions
      @LongboardSessions  Год назад +1

    I love the learning process so I agree with you. But some times we can get caught in over analysis, so as you have said - work on one thing. Harder than it sounds, sticking to the plan is difficult sometimes. I know I often go with a simple plan and wind up working on 2 or 3 related things. When the monkey chatter gets too much , I embrace the “suck” and give up and just surf LOL 😂.

      Well I don't have a specific one I would recommend, but just try and get the longest one you can find. If money is no issue, go for the classic hamboard. I think that one is 6' long!

      if you dont feel like spending 600 on a skateboard, i bought a piece of wood about 4.5 ft long and maybe 16inch wide and cut it in half to make two 8 by 4.5 bits and made two skateboards out of it, it just stuck some old longboard trucks on them and it works amazing

  • @pengren1191
    @pengren1191 Год назад +1

    Great video. How long is your skateboard? Do you feel it is good enough for land practice or the longer the better? Heard people said cross stepping on skateboard is harder. Your thoughts?

    • @LongboardSessions
      @LongboardSessions  Год назад +1

      Not exactly sure of the length, but it's not very long. Longer the better tho for sure! As for it being easier or harder on a skateboard, that depends. Once you get the hang of cross stepping on a surfboard it becomes easier than on a skateboard. But until that day, skateboard is easier. However, skateboard is always good to hone your cross stepping skills because it is technically harder.
