The Perfect Game: Harvey Haddix remembered

Early this spring, PG sports reporter Bob Dvorchak went on a road trip to the hometown of baseball legend Harvey Haddix. There he met his widow, Marcia Haddix, who offered a look at her collection of memorabilia while sharing her memories of her husband and his perfect game.

I had the memorable pleasure of once meeting Mr. Haddix after a game at Three Rivers in the mid 80's. We chatted, and he could not have been a more perfect gentleman. He smiled and showed me his 1960 World Series ring, (which looked like it was 24K), and signed my program. My one brush with a childhood hero, which I won't soon forget. In this ridiculous era of greedy, detached sports millionaires, the Kitten stands as tall as any of 'em.
