How a Family’s Sacrifice inspires an LCS Pro | DRIVE: Massu

- Massu’s journey to the LCS stage has been unlike any other. Born in Iraq at the height of the Iraq War, he and his family fled their homeland when he was just a baby, after his father narrowly escaped a kidnapping attempt in Baghdad. Although Massu’s time in Iraq was cut short, his ties to his homeland remain close at heart.
Now, as he enters his first LCS playoffs, Massu reflects on the sacrifice his parents made all those years ago, one that has allowed him to pursue his dreams in the #LCS.

Massu has an amazing family. An immigrant family with a doctor for a father who is supportive of his son making professional video gaming his career? Even without the story they went through back in Iraq, this would be noteworthy. I am not a fan of FLY, but I hope to see Massu have a lot of success in the LCS moving forward!

What a wonderfully told story. Equal parts sad, touching, inspiring, and hopeful. Very happy to have an episode of DRIVE with one of the resident rookies, as I've thought a few times this split that I don't really know much about most of them. Also very happy that Massu and his family were willing to share their story. Seems like he's got an amazing family behind him, and it's always so touching to see a family / parents so passionately supporting their child who plays in the LCS. Great episode!

My favorite LCS content series is back and it's about one of our new rookies! Most Challengers fans will know Massu (aka the "WiFi Wizard") and his accomplishments, but I didn't even know his family background nor what his dad did for the safety of their future. Incredible story, much love to your family Massu.
The last time I saw drive was probably Akadian I guess. It's been years since that video was released and is still memorable. Keep these coming LCS, you guys are doing great.

I’ve got so many memories from my three years deployed in Iraq from 2004-2009. I loved the local friends I made. I wish to see them again. This story I was waiting to see before bedtime. Now I can meditate and relax about my good memories of my time there. 🇮🇶 Thank you to your family, and you for your sacrifices and hard work. I am sorry for any pain our occupation may have caused you.

oh i hope massu stays in the lcs for a few years and grows. He def has some ints in early lane but first place for his first split is something. bwipo, jensen, and inspired could be a rock that finally lead to another dominate lcs team like tsm, TL of old.

Haven't really been watching this year. NA is the only Bo1 region now, and I personally find that boring. But this was actually inspiring. I'm watch all of the playoffs, and I'll be rooting for FlyQuest. Something about self-sacrificing fathers really gets to me. I cried twice in this.
