Making a Premium Hand Made Cigar

- This video will explore the making of a handmade, premium cigar. After the tobacco has been grown, picked, cured, fermented, and aged, it is ready to be assembled into cigars. This video shows how the wrapper, binder and filler leaves are prepared and then put together into cigars. Different techniques for bunching and rolling the cigars are also shown.
This video is a remastered version of an earlier upload. Much higher quality, some different media and higher resolution stills.
This is probably the best video I've ever seen on the subject of cigar rolling. Thank you.
I'm always amazed to see that these guys have all their fingers, I have lots of respect for these guys. Thanks for making my cigars.
Gives me a whole new appreciation for cigars.
I have a better appreciation for the contents of a premium cigar, so many fillers to manipulate into a great roll.
This is a great video. Very well made and entertaining. Makes me appreciate a lot more my cigars.
I'd be happy if I'd be able to roll cigars with my own hands, because of the craftsmanship... Thank you for your vids, they are very informative. Great work, Doc.
This was great, especially the chuckle I got at the 30s vs 5m30s rolling comparison. That would be me.
Now we need a vlog of the process of siting a patch of tobacco, harvesting seed pods, starting, fertilizing, weeding, smashing tobacco worms, cutting, stacking, racking high in barns and curing and stripping and packing and warehousing. There's a lot more to it :) The best wrappers in the world come from the best soil (geology), in the most productive non-irrigated land in the world. That same county, also produced record-breaking levels of CBD oil output, the first year it came into production. We are losing that ground to housing and paving.
First off perfect 👌 Cigar soundtrack 😃🌹. When something looks easy, it probably isn’t . I think 🤔 of it that way. Great video. Kudos from Alaska 💐💐🌹🌹👍❤️
Thanks Doc, that was great....I never get bored watching these artisans at work!
I will never smoke or vape in my life, but this was very fascinating to watch and learn. Praise these craftsmen at hard work.
Always fun to draw back the curtain and see behind the scenes on how cigars are made.
Such hard-workers.
Imagine how well these people could roll a blunt
"No, not that Fidel..." Nice one, hahah.

The Ashton Esquire Maduro along with the Crystal Belicoso are an excellent choice for cigars.............Nicely rolled, robust and full flavored.

This is a great series of videos you have put together Doc. Thank you for these great and educational videos, they are very entertaining.
Wow! I have a little more respect for a well made cigar, now that I have seen how it's done.
ditto
holy hell i LOVE cigars my fav is Quintero
Very cool! Nicely done video, thanks (now time to go fire up one of my fav robustos…lol)!
It is a vegetable-based gum. We call it pectin (used in canning) and in Spanish it is "pegamento vegetal" or, simply, "goma."
wow man awesome video, I learned a lot about cigars, and appreciate them even more than i did before!
This is a very entertaining and informative video............Excellent work Doc...;-)
Do anything hundreds of times a day and you'll get super quick and efficient at it. Makes me appreciate my favorite cigars that much more though.
Thanks doc for the video. its always good to be reminded on how our smokes are handled and made when smoking them. Im surprised you don't role cigars often! LOL! CHEERS!!!!
Thanks for sharing
I like you guy's work KEEP IT UP .
I love some traditions..I will also treat my cigars better.
How did he know I hade a cigar in my hand. What a stocker. Lol
Yep, I bet he is great at stocking a warehouse (you mean stalker)
Just imagine the nice smell of the cigar factory !
Absolutely fantastic skills.
Great video! Love Me a Cuban!
That's amazing.
Watching this after a cigarette making video. So much more appealing.
thank you, it was very educational
CRAZY SKILLS!
Damn!!!!, they got skills!
The Ashton Aged Maduro #10 is an excellent full flavored aged cigar.
Great video
What do they do with the waste in rolling the cigar? And what is the adhesive they use?
I roll cigars everyday except I don't use tobacco to fill them. 😉💨💨
+Que Bezzy I have to know: Why do you kids tolerate such shitty weed you have to smoke the whole bag to get a buzz from it?
+Que Bezzy I know you be smoking on some shit that you can stand to smoke a whole cigar's worth of. Bring your nut sack up to Washington State and get an eighth of Trainwreck or Purple Kush from a weed store.
+jmowreader OG Kush, Trainwreck, Sour Diesel, Jack Frost, all them are nice.
+jmowreader A small blunt will give you a nice buzz, depends on wtf you're buying. Don't generalize shit you have no idea about.
+Que Bezzy LMAO, I died at "get yo dumbass off my nut sack" XD
Tremendous skill!
Premium cigars are NOT as harmful as cigarettes.
Doc Diaz true but you are still at risk for mouth and throat cancer
only a increase of 2% if you smoke 2 or less a day
lol. Obviously you are a spokes person for the tobacco industry 🤣
btvbrndn u don’t even inhale so you can’t get throat cancer you could possibly get mouth cancer if you smoke like five a day.!
@@btvbrndn wtf why would you put cigar smoke in your throat
Wow...either with hands or machine, they must have a big salaries....Cool...I just ordered a box of cigar, I never tasted in my whole life, because it quite expensive. Nice vids...
big salaries... you must be quite dense
I was smoking a VegaFina robusto. also made in the Dominican republic. it was an awesome smoke :D
Preferidos is a spendy stick but OH so good!
8:20 Boston Red Sox hat
What magnificent artistry! I always try to remember the work that goes into each cigar that I smoke (granted, I only enjoy a couple every month LOL). And watching the hands of the master rollers tells me one big difference between "los torcedores" and workers in a cigarette factory: "los torcedores" have a career to be proud of.
yeah they all look like they're thriving
The song is called: Mueve La Cintura Mulata.
Doc, that’s a great Panama you’re wearing in this video. Was that a local purchase? Who made and shaped it? Cheers!
where i can buy tobacco leafs i want to make my own cigar
Great video man what is he stuff they were they using to seal them with?
It's a vegetable-based "glue." They call it "goma." Kind of like pectin.
what is that cream they use for gluing the cigar top?
It is a vegetable-based gum. They call it "goma." It is colorless, odorless and tasteless when it dries.
do you know where can i get it from in the us?
moodonha For about five bucks or so, you can buy a small bottle, usually less than an ounce, of glue and use it for repairing your cigars. I can't remember where I bought my bottle, but you can do a web search.
Or, better, you can go down to your local supermarket and buy some liquid pectin that's used for preserving home made jams and jellies. It's the same stuff. You can buy 6 fluid ounces of liquid pectin for less than five dollars. Be sure to get liquid pectin and not the powder. The powder is too messy.
thank you. great video, i forgot to say.
Anyone knows wat company this cigar factory is?
Is that glue there using to roll the cigars ?
Hay que or pa Santo Domingo gracias doc
Interesting:)
Chewing tobacco is really helpful
In which way?
What is the paste/adhesive used in the rolling process?
It is a vegetable gum. Very similar to pectin. It is called "goma" or "pegamento vegetal" in Spanish.
Doc Diaz TY, thoroughly enjoyed this and other posts of yours.
hejustleft Thanks, man. Much appreciated.
Excellent. I was wondering the same thing. Thanks for sharing the info, Doc Diaz
p loco it adds to the flavor and for some reason it wont kill you! o.o awesome huh so its perfectly fine
God I love cigars
PS: thats why a hand made will beat out a machine any day.
Well done graduations!!
Some of these guys could make a killing in Colorado now of days...
all i can think of watching this is weed lol
G.k Universe all of us stoners do.
cigarettes & cheap cigars have a lot of filler and chemicals added to make them cheap and very addictive, this also makes the harmful. Pure tobacco is not actually that harmful.
superb
DOC=superior
what type of paste/glue are they useing during the rolling...?
Is this where blunt wrap companies make their roll ups from ?
💯
What is the name of the machine
what about the one with coke in it?
Cool
2:31 - BONCHEROSSSSSS, BONCHEROSSSS, loled
what is the name of background music? by the way, great inform video.
The name of the song is Mueve La Cintura Mulata.
are you in Dominican Rep or Cuba?
damn ese, I got t get these vatos to roll my blunts
What’s the stuff they’re using to stick it?
It is a vegetable-based gum.
send me one in the Philippines! lol :)
Hell yea
Yooo I'm high asf right now that's why I'm here.
I did not love the cheesy, cliche, and wholly unnecessary Latin music in the background, lol. That said, however, it's a great video simply because of the wonderful information it conveys -- great insider look at how these talented torcedores do their work! Very informative and educational -- thank you.
Chad Bye Felicia
Fuck off chad it’s called culture
I hope I can get my hands on a Cuban one day.
ive had them a few times (you can get them in Bahamas and Bermuda) they taste no different then any other real good hand made cigar also you can get them shipped to you from Canada theres some sites out there
They're usually a lot more 'rich'... I don't know how else to explain it, other than just 'rich' or 'ripe'. It has to do with the growing conditions in Cuba; the perfect temperature, humidity, soil pH, experienced farmers, buncherros, torcedores, etcetera. They usually output the best to keep their good name, and the hype kind of contributes to a sort of placebo effect. I've had two Habanas and one counterfeit from the D.R., and couldn't tell the difference until I looked closely at the bands. Good smoke overall, hope you can get ahold of one. I got mine on vacation and didn't have any issue bringing them back home.
yumchin42 I was up in Pentictan and Osoyous visiting family this past winter and couldn't find one unfortunately. I'll be looking next time I'm in Vancouver though, I know they'd have one. But, for now I'm gonna have to wait.
They're not as good as the hype puts them up to be, but it's definitely something you should look forward to trying. It's a unique smoke.
Legal in Canada, was up there not too long ago and you can smuggle them back down, but that term is an overstatement at best lol, just throw them in the trunk.
I luv smoking cigar occasionally
The woman are beautiful
Happiness is....
because cigars contain more nicotine and the "toxins" are not burned off as easily in cigars as compared to cigarettes because they burn cooler. For this reason, you ingest more toxic chemicals from cigars. Love your vids Doc (and cigars), but I'm a doc too ;)
Premium cigars don't have nicotine. Only gas station cigars do. 🚬🚬
hey man quick question, where exactly in the dominican rep. is this and do you have the name of the place?
This video was taken at the La Aurora factory in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Doc Diaz If I was to go there personally to visit, will they sell me cigars for a fair price? I plan on visiting soon. Thanks for the reply, and for the great video aswel!
Daniel Jaquez They don't sell cigars at retail at the factory. Although they will give you some to smoke while you are there, they don't retail cigars. No factory does, that I know of. It's probably easier to get cigars in the states than in the countries where the cigars are made. Kinda strange, but true.
hah, i was thinking the same thing!
6:06 I can watch that guy all day
Reason for rolling cigar with blade? 5:58
It's to make different shaped cigars like a torpedo for example
8:20...spits on cigar.hahahahaha
La Aurora
All them dark backwoods why they never end up in the pack
