Matthew Smith Yeah but then the LOB and Peyton would’ve been at their peaks at the same time. Instead of Russ peaking after the LOB. Now they are stuck in 2nd round purgatory with no way out unless they consider a serious change in the roster. It doesn’t matter how great Russ is if his great years are being wasted away just like Rodgers was and Mahomes will be. They take up too much salary cap and they have to get very lucky with drafting

As a 49ers fan, you know that Manning as a 49er would have been an amazing fit as well. They were literally a QB shy of winning multiple super bowls. Instead, they won zero.
Captain Check Down and Colin Sackorpick were NOT the answer.
There is a very good chance that SF wins the 2012 Super Bowl with Manning and who knows what happens against Seattle in 2013? Maybe the beat down we saw in the Super Bowl, or maybe after having met 4 times in two regular seasons, instead of zero times with Denver, he would have their number and smashed them. No idea. He was better than Colin, so I would like to think that he would have won that game.

As a Broncos fan a younger me was very stressed out during this time period. 😂 Very happy about how it all played out.
Edit: also would have been a nice addition to throw in all the vets and great talent that came to play for Denver just because of Peyton's presence. Great video though

I honestly think a huge selling point for the Broncos was the thinner air. Imagine if you had sub-par arm strength, but you had the opportunity to play 8 games where the altitude is much higher, and the air is much thinner. It absolutely makes a difference.

I could see Manning not wanting to go the niners based of not wanting to follow a legacy... I could’ve seen him going to the hawks... but if anything I bet he never wanted to go to the NFC because he didn’t want to challenge with Eli for a SuperBowl bid... that’s probably why Eli went to the Giants instead of the Chargers.... really though, he shouldn’t went to the jets.... Manning’s would’ve owned NY... and with Rex D... they could’ve down some damage... also, John Fox is a terrible coach....

I live in Nashville and when Peyton Manning had narrowed down his final teams and the Titans were one of those teams, the local pop radio station changed their name from 107.5 The River, to 107.5 The Manning. They said if he signs in Nashville they were going to keep that name until he retired lol

I am a huge broncos fan but at the time I wasn't so sure about the signing for 2 reasons 1. Drafted Tebow and subsequently traded him to the jets which I thought was an odd move after only playing in a handful of games and 2. Manning's neck. But man, did it pan out!!!

You don't remember what all the sources said happened with the 49'ers? Peyton wanted to sign there over Denver, the defense, O-line, Frank Gore, etc. But Jim Harbaugh started playing pass with Peyton and tried telling him competitively that he could throw it harder than Peyton, which rubbed him the wrong way, just like all the players said Jim Harbaugh would show up in pads playing QB to demonstrate the offense. I remember this clear as day. Alex Smith went off after this.

As awesome as it was smashing Denver to win SB 48.. I was really happy to see Peyton still end up getting a second ring before he retired. He may have seemed kinda corny at times, but you couldn’t not respect the man and his game. All the years in Indy was crazy to watch when they were in the prime time game, watching him call audibles and read the defense at the line and field general that shit. Was hard to watch him struggle to throw it downfield in that last season/super bowl tho.

crazy to think about the possibilities
    - Washington Redskins = Manning vs Manning 2x a year
    - New York Jets or Miami Dolphins = Manning vs Brady 2x a year (at least)
    - Seattle Seahawks = the team that beat Peyton in the superbowl. imagine 2013 peyton with the legion of boom, ridiculous. the 49ers also would have been similarly interesting in that way.
-Manning to Fitzgerald in Arizona? Lethal.
-Peyton joining his hometown team in Tennessee but also a division rival, would face the Colts 2x a year.
Ultimately, I'm glad he went to the Broncos. He fits the uniform really well, he had the greatest MVP season ever, finished his career on top, and the horse thing really completes the narrative arc nicely.

Peyton would have probably won two titles with San Fran but he didn’t want to play in the NFC because he didn’t want to possible block his brother from getting to a super bowl. Peyton was on record saying he really didn’t like playing against Eli.
