      It's been said that good marketing is both 'grabby' and 'sticky'; This is absolutely both of those, and helpful to those around people at risk. I remember being raised by a shockingly at-risk parent, pre-opioid crisis, from age ~8-onward. These resources are important, for rescuers, unfortunately.

    I think we need to make a distinction about what actually constitutes an overdose, because all opioids make you nod out. Remember the opium dens at the turn of the century? They would all be given naloxone today. Just because someone isn’t responding doesn’t necessarily mean you need to spray them with that. If they’re breathing, & their color is good, they’re basically just “asleep”. I’m on 120mg of methadone & when someone did it to me it put me into acute withdrawal. We addicts understand the risks, if something happens, it’s on us, not the dealers… (maybe big pharma under some circumstances.

    • @danmcdonald8736
      @danmcdonald8736 Месяц назад

      Your not wrong, esp with tranq on the US east coast. That shit really knocks you out. Ive only narcaned 1 person out of the many that most would consider unresponsive because her lips started turning blue.
      I don't see them telling people to wait till they see blue because they'd rather have a pissed off withdrawing addict than a dead addict.

    0:18 another technique you can try is the sternum (aka breastbone) rub. Make a fist and put the knuckles in the middle of your fingers on their sternum. While applying some pressure (you don;t need a TON), rub your knuckles up and down a few times. If they don't react to that after 2-3 tries, then proceed to check breathing and administer Narcan. If you try the sternal rub on yourself, you will realize that it is very uncomfortable and would easily make someone react if they weren't overdosing. Great video!
