While it’s sad, it makes perfect sense especially bc after the war it was very hard all alone, especially for women. And as far as I saw, there were no promises made of coming back. They thought it was a goodbye. And there is nothing wrong with the movie or the west, just right person, wrong time. And with that, have a nice day.
@@itabella3143 did any of you watch the damn movie? War was over, he moved back to US, and he decided to return to his lover in France. They were married and had baby, and the baby got sick and died. Due to the death of the baby both of them drifted apart and seperated. Then, she remarry to an American and move to US is the train Station scene above. He wrote his life story and put it the bag where eventually Bradley's wife character brought for him years later when they were on holiday in France. Bradley's character found the life story of the old guy in the bag and turn it into his novel and took all the credits and profited out of that old guy's story.
