I love this format. It's pitched at about the right level of difficulty for me. Plus I love the humour and the way you guys bounce off each other. ¡¡Me encanta!!
¡Gracias, Steve! :) Cx
Cuidense.
jajajaja muchas gracias :P :)
Seeing that this says "Advanced Intermediate" and I've only been studying for 5 months, I was expecting to be lost. Then I wondered if me having studied mostly Caribbean dialects would make it even more difficult. But I could understand around 90% of the conversation! It didn't feel like I was straining to understand a foreign language, it just felt like I was watching a podcast, completely relaxing. I forgot it was even in Spanish! I'm impressed with my knowledge and thankful for your approachable content. Definitely subscribing!
¡¡Estupendo!! ¿De qué país eres? :)
I want to connect with him in every way I can, so even though I don’t “need” to learn Spanish (he’s fluent in both), I don’t want to settle for just communicating with him in English.
That's a beautiful reason to learn the language and, for sure, he'll appreciate it very much. Much love to you both! Cx
This was good. There were a few parts that I did not understand, but knew the question or answer because i did make out the other words. I realized, the problem with comprehension (for me) is speed and word recognition. This paste (speaking) was good for me. And, i understood most of the words.
¡que guapa, Cynthia! 😍
¡Muchas gracias, Tina! ¡Claro que sí! Cx
for me these video are perfect the one skill I need to improve on and pos is the hardest is listening, I work for a Spanish company in the UK but when the Spanish talk fast ( and sometimes in vasco ) its really hard to understand even I've been studying for several years. my work are sending me to Zaragoza next month to work there as like an immersion, very excited :) listening and talking is now my top priority :) thanks
Hola, Mark.
OMG, I understood the vast majority! Love the format.
¡Estupendo! :)
I was quite pleased with myself becasue I was able to follow the thread of the conversation and grasp most of what was said. As such I was able to answer all the questions correctly. I find that my listening skills are far better than my speaking ability. Whilst I'm able to understand what is being said I then find it hard to formulate the sentences I need to respond.
Exactly the same for me.
¡¡¡Qué bueno!! Buen trabajo :) Cx
¡¡Olé!! :) Cx
¡Estupendo, Juliana! ¡Bienvenida! Cx
I loved it! Going to Spain in about a month - this was perfect for getting my "ears in shape". ¡Mil gracias!
¡¡Genial!! ¡Disfruta de España! :) Cx
Great video!! The speed was perfect for me I could understand every word. I’m glad I found your channel.
¡Estupendo! ¡Bienvenido a LSS! :)
Great help, I'm a beginner and followed nearly all of it. Really useful stuff.
¡Magnífico! :)
I didnt understand everything, but I was able to get the gist of the conversation and understood enough to answer most of the questions correctly. Good video.
¡Genial, Bruce! :)
Y’all look awesome!! I love your channel. I’ve learned so much and enjoy your fun videos ❤
¡¡Muchas gracias!! :) Cx
Super, very useful, i could understand nearly 100%, and the speed is perfect. Thanks and Feliz navidades
¡¡Feliz Navidad!! ¡Muchas gracias! :) Cx
Pasas y datíles. The only one I missed. Gordan, you are a strong man (not to eat sweets). You guys are a riot. Love how you 2 wrk so well together. Great sense of humor you have. Cynthia is such a sweet lady. I love laugh.
¡Muchas gracias! ¡Felices Fiestas! :) Cx
Excellent format! Keep on going! Es muy interesante ! Gracias.
¡Gracias! Cx
I loved this exercise!! I did get most of this. The odd word like currents or dates I missed but the rest was good. Pace was perfect- challenging but not frustrating. Thank you!
Pasas y dátiles :) ¡Buen trabajo! Cx
true!! dates, currents and raisins I haven't heard before (at least I don't remember them). So same!
I try to catch your videos - I liked this one, it was just the right level for me as a beginer, keep up the great work
¡Muchas gracias! :)
I understood all the conversation but had to guess that it was shop bought cakes you were talking about The perfect speed for me. Thank you.
¡¡Estupendo, Sally!! Cx :)
More videos like this, please!
¡Por supuesto! Cx
Me encanta escuchar esta estilo de aprender!
¡Muchas gracias, Mary! Cx
Cx
Loved this test of listening to spanish. Understood about 80%. very happy that my listening skills are progressing nicely. Thanks so much from Irene from London England.
¡¡Estupendo, Irene!! :) Cx
Like it and understood much of it ! The speed was perfect for a newbie in spanish, while still sounding natural!
¡Estupendo, gracias! :) Cx
It was very good for me. I understood much and learned some new vocabulary. Thanks.
¡A ti! :)
love the session, it's helpful and fun. thanks.
¡A ti! :)
Bien hecho! Danos más!
;) Claro Cx
THAT WAS EXCELLENT A REAL ENCOURAGEMENT TO ME.THANK YOU
¡Genial! ¡Muchas gracias! :) Cx
¡Muchas gracias! :)
Loved this format.
¡Gracias! :)
Loved it! Do more of these. Listening to everyday conversation is a challenge for me and this is exactly what I need to improve my Spanish.
Fantastic! We released another video today! :) Cx
I really enjoyed this format because i could test myself and i could answer all of the questions. I do have a lesson on line every week which is an hour of only speaking Spanish with a Spanish lady in Cadiz so that helps.
You'll end up with a nice southern accent, Steve ;) Cx
@@LightSpeedSpanishChannel No not really she used to live in Madrid and has just moved to Cadiz. Anyway I live in Murcia which is unbelievable with things like Do Cana Ma
¡¡Hola, Ju!! ¡Muchas gracias! :) Cx
I just discovered your channel. Oh wow, I understood a lot of what was said and I love this format. I need help with listening and comprehension and this is short and sweet.
¡¡Muchas gracias, gg! ¡Bienvenida a LSS! Cx
Sí, entiendo todo! Me gusta mucho la interacción entre ustedes. Yo nunca escuché la frase “bollería industrial.” Gracias para hacer los videos. Son buenos profesores!
¡Muchísimas gracias! :)
I 43 and I just started learning Spanish about a month ago. I say I picked up about 25%. I understood the part about reading.
¡¡Muy bien!! :) Cx
Loved this. And I did pretty well! Thanks.
¡Olé! :)
I’m progressing and learning more and more
¡¡Estupendo!! Cx
Enjoyed it very much, I understood and answered most of the questions. ( I am a beginner)
¡¡Estupendo!! :)
¡Genial! :)
I got most of them which is a great improvement for me from two months ago.
¡Olé, Trevor! :)
Love your videos they really help me 🙏
¡Gracias, Chris! :)
I understood most of the conversation I missed a little but I enjoy very much listening to you both speak and It was the perfect speed for me ☺
¡¡Muchas gracias!! :)
What a fantastic video of which I understood about 90%. The speed of Spanish was at a good pace for me. I truly love the relaxation that you both demonstrate to us Spanish language learners. Muchísimas gracias para los dos. Marion
¡Muchas gracias, Marion! :)
This is so cool, i understood mostly everything about 90 percent was easy but my problem has been answering in Spanish that's where i would need lots of help.👍
Try this next time in one of these videos: try to write down the answer when you first hear it and then see if you can reproduce it (without looking at it) when we ask what was said. Cynthia x
I surprised myself. I haven’t daily studied Spanish in 8 weeks , I consider myself a cross between A1-A2 I almost never get to speak with a Spanish native and all my good habits I thought were gone and I just decided to listen to some RUclips today. I found your channel and I decided just to do it and I understood I would say about 80% of everything and I had the context on all the topics that you mentioned and I actually remembered I don’t know how I did that…. 🤩🤩🥳
¡¡¡Olé!! ¡¡Buen trabajo!! Cynthia x
Thats was a perfect speed for me! And I totally enjoyed your content and humor, you guys are very funny together, i enjoy that. And i was ab,e to understand and answer all the questions correctly, so proud. I intend to follow your lessons. I want to brush up my Spanish as I'm going to Mexico in a couple of months. But I really want to get back to Spain! Thank you for such well thought out, yet spontaneous and natural Spanish lesson!
¡¡Muchas gracias, Lynn y buen trabajo!! Disfruta de tus vacaciones en México :) Cx
gracias!
That was actually a lot easier than I thought it might be… Thank you for making it easy to follow!
I took 4 years of Spanish in high school (a long time ago), but I never became fluent. Recently I have been using DuoLingo to review and start learning again, but talking/listening has always worried me… (I’m not the most social person, and also there’s certainly no way I was going to become fluent from 1 hour of class per day with 30 other students for the teacher to focus on)
DuoLingo does have “listening” exercises, but only like one sentence at a time. Actually, they do have a podcast, but I tried the first one and it seemed way too hard to follow the story (even though it wasn’t super complicated)
I was worried I might never be able to listen in real time (even though I do think directly in Spanish for the A1 exercises I’ve been working on), but I enjoyed listening to your conversation, very approachable 🙂
(Of course, I did have to pause and look up various terms, like “campo” is not just field, but also countryside! I also learned: rodear, bollería, me sabe mal, casera [which I proudly guessed from context], bizcochos, género… Many new terms!)
Edit: After watching the questions, I also learned dieta rara, (uvas) pasas, and dátiles (some of which I had tried looking up before, but I couldn’t understand well enough to write them down). Ultimately I got all the questions right, except the ones relating to these terms
That's fantastic!
It's great that you could work out some new words from the context or from words that you already knew!
Doulingo is a fantastic tool to get people started and to drill vocab and expression, but nothing beats chatting to native speakers and listening to them talk :)
Cx
I enjoyed this very much, too, even though I understood maybe 60%. I understood the topics, but not always the details. But I liked the challenge and I'm grateful you reviewed it.
¡Muchas gracias! :) Cx
I really enjoyed this format. Wondering at what level of conversation it was at. (A1, A2, B1 etc.)
B1-B2. ¡Muchas gracias! Cx
Hola Gordon y Cynthia, I understood everything. You guys have great sense of humour and love the chemistry between you two. I learn so much from you both, its really good fun and entertaining. I have never heard boyería or voyería, don't know if I spelt it correctly. Please keep making these kind of videos, thank you
I stumbled on that one for a moment as well, but realized *Poof* (light bulb goes off) that it was BOLLO he said. You'll find that word is a generic of sorts, you can use Word Reference or other things to dig in to it if you like.
Bollería = pastries
¡¡Muchas gracias!! Es bollería (industrial). Cx
¡¡Buen trabajo!! Cx
Correcto, but sweet ones :) Cx
That was excellent practice, thank you. I hope you do more videos like this. (I only missed 2 questions.)
¡¡Los haremos!! Muchas gracias :) Cx
Qué libro tan encantado estás leyendo, Gordon? No nos dejes en la oscuridad!
He's reading: 'Do It! Let's get off our buts'. It's a 90's book. Cx
Me encantó esta clase.
¡Muchas gracias! :)
This was great! Thank you for this kind of content. I was actually able to keep up although my Spanish has become very rusty!
¡¡Buen trabajo!! Cx
Gracias.
¡Muchas gracias! :) Cx
I at least understood the topics being discussed and your individual preferences therein. Of course nouns are often an issue since many nouns are not used frequently. For example I had no idea your were saying raisins or dates. I enjoy your channel and I think this is a very good method to improve compression skills.
Muchas gracias. I think that you'll find the answer to your question in the comments :) Cx
Yo! Understood most of this. More like this please😊
¡¡¡Olé!!! :)
Me encantó este video!
¡Muchas gracias! :) Cx
Understood all and answered all the speed was fine
¡¡Genial, gracias!! Cx
Thank you! I understood the conversation throughout and could mostly keep up but the odd word was new to me or i could not hear properly.
¡Buen trabajo! :)
Hola, gracias a ustedes.
¡Gracias! :)
Very good video. You have a new subscriber. Gracias!
¡Gracias! :)
Brilliant loved the way it was done, understood almost everything, Gordon is losing his south shields accent he's not posh yet but different.
Yeah i got like 75% of this. Pretty good for me.
¡¡Qué bien!! :) Cx
As with someone else's comment didn't get currents or dates, but that's good as now added to my vocabulary list.
A suggestion.....perhaps introduce new vocabulary for us to learn and listen for. Maybe for example give use 4 book genres to learn and listen for. All in all it was great.
¡Gracias! :)
I was pleasantly surprised at how well I kept up with the conversation. I got all the answers apart from "dates and currants". Gordon doing the Geordie accent reminds me of a couple of jokes (not necessarily funny ones, but Gordon and Cynthia might like them)...Joke 1: A Geordie walks into a hairdressers and says, "Can I have a Perm" and the hairdresser says, "I wandered lonely as a cloud..." Joke 2: What's the difference between a kangaroo and a kangaroot? Answer: One's an Australian animal and the other one's a Geordie stuck in a lift. 😉
jajajajaja I got the second one, the first one Gordon had to pronounce it for me, but I got it!
Well done, by the way!! Cx
@@LightSpeedSpanishChannel Gracias Cynthia. Love the videos. You and Gordon have a great vibe and being fluent in each other's native language is a terrific combination for teaching. One final (not necessarily funny) joke about accents...A Scotsman goes into a cake shop in Glasgow and says, "Is that a macaroon or a meringue?" and the person behind the counter says, "No, you're right, it's a macaroon." 😁
jajajajajaa me gustant tus chistes :D.
Muchas gracias :) Cx
Watched this twice understood more second time.
¡Buen trabajo! :)
Soy alergicó a gluten, lactosa y sulphitos y no puedo comer fuera mi casa.
I understood about 50 percent which is an improvement for me.
¡Olé! :)
¡Gracias, Lynn! Cx
I understood 100%! The speed was very slow.
¡Enhorabuena! :)
La conversacion esta muy clara
¡Gracias, Zeyad! :) Cx
Like you Gordan, I am an English speaking native living with my Spanish wife, in Spain. The other day we were speaking about something and I said, "no me interesa." She stopped me and suggested that I start using "no me apetece" more because it is not as strong as "no me interesa." Therefor, when you were both talking about eating cake, and you said, no me interesa, I immediately thought that you were being a little forward and a nicer way of stating this would be to use the other form I mentioned. Would you agree with my Spanish wife? Thanks.
'No me interesa' could sound rude (or not at all). It all depends on how you say it and when. However, 'no me apetece' can't always substitute 'no me interesa', for example:
¿Qué opinas de la política? - Pues, no me interesa mucho la polítca. (I'm not interested in politics that much). Here, you wouldn't say 'I don't fancy politics' (no me apetece la política).
(I'm sorry, but I don't fancy) If you said: no me interesa (I'm not interested) that could sound rude.
I hope that that helped, Tommy!
Cynthia x
Thanks for the reply. It helped tremendously. In fact, your example about going to cine is similar to what actually happened. My “peña” which is obviously Spanish, wanted me to go to a Pueblo for a wine festival and my Spanish wife over heard me telling them “lo siento pero no me interesa.” Which led her to tell me “no me apetece” would have been better and nicer! She just lacked your professional explanation.
Thank you again.
Tommy
Un placer, Tommy. Me alegra haberte podido ayudar. Un saludo. Cynthia x
Entiendo bastante de preguntas y respuesto
¡Buen trabajo! :)
Hi guys. I didn't catch the word before industrial? The way to express mass produced food? Thank you for this🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 A+
Bollería industrial :) ¡¡Gracias!! Cx
Lo hice muy bien.
¡Olé!
I got everyone right!!! 🎉
¡Olé! :) Cx
Magnificent! Are both of you British? I'm a new fan and subscriber! Mucho gusto y saludos desde Malasia 😁🏅
¡Hola! ¡Te damos la bienvenida a LSS!
Yo soy de Madrid, España, y Gordon es de South Shields, Inglaterra :)
@@LightSpeedSpanishChannel ¡Vamos arriba, chicos! ❤️🇪🇦🇲🇾

I don't speak Spanish, but I understood 99% of that conversation. I did have to look up bolleria. Here in Granada it would be pronounced "bodgeria".
Any road up...
¡¡Buen trabajo!! Cx
You sound like Brian Johnson of AC/DC. Lol.I understood the gist of what you were saying but sometimes my lack of overall vocabulary is a problem.
La próxima lo harás mucho mejor :) Cx
I'm surprised that this is Adv Inter? I understood 90% of your conversation. I think its because you intentionally spoke slowly. Because my in-laws in Valencia speak so fast in their normal conversation I can hardly follow 🙂a lot of slang and words joined together. Anyway I appreciate your videos a lot! Muchismas Gracias
¡Gracias! Cx
hola profesores ,six years omg paciencia mis amigos poliglotas !!

mmmm chocolateeeee
What's the name of the music in the intro?!
Spanish pride :)
I don't know how to spell bodarilla industrial but , that would be called processed food in the US.
Bollería industrial. It's processed food from a bakery (sweet pastry). Cx
@@LightSpeedSpanishChannel Jaja. He oido esta dicho antes.
this was very easy, what level would this be? I honestly haven't practiced my spanish in years but this was almost too easy, i felt like you guys were being too kind to us
Well, I think that this would be at an intermediate/ hight intermediate level.
Good for you!!! Cx :)
- I divvent knaa man!....Light Speed Geordie??
jajajajajaja Why aye!! :P Cx
Decimos "Processed foods" e "super processed foods" en ingles.
Sí, pero de bollos, no de lo demás. processed cakes and things of that sort. Cx
Hi.what does it mean, boderia industrial,I guess, but cannot find in dictionary
Bollería industrial. It's in the comments below :) Let me know if you can't find it. Cx
Entiendo casi todo, pero “voyería? boyaría?” Y necesito subtítulos cuando Gordon habla Geordie.
Bollería = pastries
